SNIP

Becca kept moving about the room helping those she could and making sure anyone ‘not’ hurt was swiftly dispatched from the room to keep the chaos to a minimum. Those who wouldn’t leave were reminded that perhaps there were others that needed help. It was that chance to check around that she hoped would move some extra folks out and give the medical staff a chance to breathe and see just how bad things were.

”doing ok there?” he called to Rebecca as the medical team reorganised triage.

Everyone seemed to come in with someone else so Becca was busy sorting out the people. Most were eager to return to their part of the ship to assist wherever possible. But one marine who had brought another in crossed his arms and looked defiant. “Uh uh. Not moving doc. My buddy here is hurt and I’m not leaving him.” His ‘buddy’ was in for an arm whose bones were crushed in his left arm from a tool cabinet in the fighter bay slamming into it from the explosion.
- Erickson

Ryley glanced over, sized up the marine then returned to his task saying over his shoulder and loud enough for the marine to hear. ”Sorry we dont recognise stubborn or stupid as ailments that are worthy of taking up valuable triage space during emergencies. And while I am totally for your no man left behind sort of mentality he’s not going to go anywhere.”

Becca heard the man standing his ground in front of the nurse and smiled, coming over to help. “Ok, let’s get your friend to a chair over here and have a look. I’m Rebecca.” She helped the Marine get settled and nodded to his friend. “Are you all right?” She knew they would stick together, but it wouldn’t help if the moment she turned her back, Erickson passed out behind her. Her eyes bore into him with friendliness, but also a look that said she could stare him down if he remained stubborn.

As he helped his friend Rebecca could see that the other had some small lacerations around the fingers. Some bleeding was present but it was superficial. “Just a couple cuts ripping that cabinet away. I’ll keep,” he said, noticing that she had noticed his fingers. While he seemed to have heard the doctor he was, at the moment, ignoring it.

The nurse swiftly got a pain block for the Marine in the chair and a brace to bracket the arm till the Doc could see to him.

Once he was done with the woman Ryley approached and stood by Rebecca as she and the nurse braced the arm. He visually swept it and the turned to Erickson and asked ”Something fall on him or he fall into it?”

In reporting mode the marine replied, “When the explosion came Jimmy, his name is Jimmy Okes, was doing maintenance on one of the birds, fighter craft, and the heavy tool cabinet that was nearby fell against him.” Erickson glanced at Jimmy. “Took three of us to get the cabinet off.”

Rebecca smiled as the Doctor stepped up and took over. She touched Ryley’s arm in thanks and reassurance as she stepped back. Once Erickson had given his report, she touched his arm and smiled. “Let’s see to your hands, shall we? Can’t help others if you don’t take care of yourself.” She nodded to a chair nearby for him to sit in. “Doc will take care of Jimmy. And you can watch from here.” She moved to the cabinet she had used several times already. Getting some sterile swabs and cleanser she moved back hoping that the Marine had at least been willing to compromise this little bit so she could take care of him.

Erickson gave a wry smile and a nod. “Got that right,” he said, letting her do what she could to his hands. “Say, would you be interested in seein a holo with me?”
- Erickson

Rebecca actually blushed. “You don’t even know me. Why would you ask me to a holo?” Half of her was intrigued that anyone was interested. The other half had no idea what to say. She hadn’t dated since the Academy. Which was…a long time ago. She wasn’t even sure how to react to the asking.

“How better to get to know me,” he said, then shrugged. “Well, the after holo and talk about the holo. You never know. I might be more than talk about my guns and escapades.”

Rebecca seemed slightly more gentle on Erickson’s hands now, though.

Erickson relaxed his hand more in hers. “Davis, our field medic could take a lesson from you. He’s as rough as a badger’s .. ah, pretty rough in doing first aid.”

Ryley meanwhile was busy examining the other mans fingers. Gently he moved up the arm and traded for his tricorder. Still in ewr shot of Rebecca and Erickson he couldn’t help but overhear. He could help his response however, just chose not to. ”Either you’re exactly his type, he’s forward or he gave his head a whack and has no idea what he’s saying as the adrenaline wears off or has no sense of personal boundaries due to head whack or personal issues. Scan his head on setting three, if it comes back clean send a referral to the CNS for him.” he said to them both without looking up from adjusting the recorder. He began scanning and continued.

”Then go see a holo with him, nice girl meets nice boy in a crisis seems legit”

Ooc: Gene how broken is this guys arm? Like bone fragments everywhere or like Harry potter after Lockhart took his bones away in chamber of secrets? :p
OOC: Er, that is an old memory <G>

His arm was broken/fractured in four places. While the skin was only punctured in one place, the arm was in nasty shape. Not beyond medical science now but still it looked ugly.

Rebecca scoffed at the Doc’s response but turned to Erickson. “Sure… once things are settled and I’m not stuck here with Mr Congeniality,” she nodded over her shoulder to the Doc, “I’d love to. Thank you.” She turned briefly to glance back at Doc and stick her tongue out. It was childish and only a moment, one he would miss if not looking, but it made her feel better. Turning back to her ‘patient’, she smiled. “There, bleeding stopped,” she said and sprayed the sealant over it to ‘second skin’ the scrapes so they would heal and not bleed further. “Anything else while you are here? Don’t want you playing tough and not mentioning something. It doesn’t do anyone any good if you aren’t up to snuff. Agreed?” She was stern with her query, but the smile softened the blow a bit.
