He allowed Molly to take the lead going up the stairs to the front door and she could swear she heard a… growl… escape Cal as they reached the top, Boomer right beside them. Silently, the Marine opened the door to the home and allowed Molly to step through first. : : : : : : : : : : : : The next few seconds found Molly in Cal’s arms as he carried her up the stairs to the second floor, his lips like fire against hers. When they reached the door to his room, which was slightly ajar, Cal kicked it open with his foot and brought Molly to the bed. Laying her on its soft surface, Molly felt his lips drip passionately down her body as their clothes flowed off. : : : : : : : : : : Laughing, Molly let Cal carry her up the stairs. Her lips burning with the same passion as his, her breathing intensifying with every step. When Molly felt his bed touching her back, it was the first time in a long time that she felt that the world was finally right again. : : : : : : : : : : : (FADE TO BLACK) : : : : : : : : : : : : Cal : : : : : : : : : : Slowly, conscience made its way back to Molly’s body. Yet, she remained still not understanding where she was nor what had happened to her. Her whole body felt dormant and she didn’t recall laying down to sleep. : : : : : : : : : : And then suddenly everything came back to her. She tried to move her arms and legs but the soft bed linen felt like sand paper in whatever limbs she managed to move. Her breath caught in her throat and she shivered. : : : : : : : : : : Crap! With a sudden movement Molly sat up, looking for her chronometer, trying to figure out for how long she had been out, only to find Cal staring at her, a smug smile on his lips. : : : : : : : : : : Taking her hair out of her face, Wright looked at Harris through narrowed eyes. “What?” : : : : : : : : : : - Molly : : : : : : : : Cal’s eyes shined in a way Molly had never seen and only two other women ever had. The Marine was completely smitten with the woman laying beside him. With a warm smile, Cal answered. “I cannot believe I didn’t see it before. God, you really are perfect Mol’s… at least to me.” : : : : : : : : Cal : : : : : : Molly smiled as her cheeks turned pink. “Ah, stop it. You clearly didn’t read my records or you would know that perfect is something I am far from.” Her eyes roamed Cal’s face, shoulders and bare chest… Slowly, she reached for his arm, tracing his skin with the tip of her fingers. “You are the perfect one.” Molly’s gaze followed the movement of her hand as if she was mesmerized by the Marine. Finally, her light brown eyes found Cal’s. As she stared lovingly at their beautiful blue shade, Molly felt like the luckiest girl alive. If only they didn’t have jobs to do… if only they could lay on that bed forever. Her lips reached for his and relished on the sweetness of his kiss. As they moved to his ear, she whispered softly. “I guess now I know why women can’t seem to stop chasing you…” : : : : : : - Molly : : : : Cal pulled Molly against him as they kissed, the sweetness of her lips… her touch… was intoxicating. As Molly whispered in his ear, Cal chuckled softly and with a playful swat to her butt whispered back. “Well… I can tell ya one thing.” He winked. “They might chase me, but I can promise you one thing Mols… from now on, I’m only chasin’ you.” The Marine pulled Molly in once more, his lips moving from her lips, to her ear, then to her neck. Reaching her collarbone, Molly could feel Cal tremble slightly. In a ragged hushed tone, Harris said with baited breath. “I have never hungered for another woman’s lips… her body… her touch… like I do you. If time were to stand still forever in this moment, I would never want anything more in this existence then to spend it forever in your arms.” : : : : Cal : : With his last words, Cal would feel a soft peaceful breath leave Molly’s body, and then a new, trembling one, being let in. Almost as if she was fighting back tears. : : “God Cal…” She buried her face on the crook of his neck. Her arms softly wrapped around his torso pulling him close. When she looked back up to him her eyes were slightly moist. “That’s the most beautiful thing anyone has ever said to me…” She smiled and then shook her head. “You certainly are a man full of surprises… I never thought you to be like this. Sweet, sensitive, caring…” : : Kissing his lips once more, Molly relished in the peacefulness of the moment, and as she pulled him closer once more, she continued. “When it comes to love, I don’t have as much experience as you do… that’s for sure.” A slight playful smile formed on her lips, but it quickly vanished as the love and awe in her eyes took over again. “All the men I was with, I loved, and I loved them deeply.” She was sure the plural ‘men’ would not get lost in Cal, but Molly didn’t care. Her involvement with Ryan had been what had ultimately dissolved her relationship with Ashton and Cal knew it. He just didn’t know how far their relationship had gone. “But one thing is certain… I never felt for them what I feel for you…” She smiled. “I never knew that love could be this powerful… this simple… this complete… and most of all… I could never have imagined that it was in front of me all this time.” : Cal pulled her close, nuzzling and kissing her neck in a soft, sweet way. Clearly wanting nothing more than to be close to her. He had literally lost count of the times they’d made love, the passion and intensity of their time in his simulated bed blurred time and space. Harris was not the man he was before. He wa a man thoroughly and deeply in love… and it scared the hell out of him. Every woman he had truly loved before her was dead… taken from him and before their time. He felt cursed and while he ached to be with Molly, he was terrified History would repeat itself. : As they laid on Cal’s bed, Molly’s heart felt like it was about to explode in a million of happy pieces. His arms around her felt like home. Like they would keep her safe through the roughest of situations. Like while she was in them, she was invincible. Her lips found his neck, his shoulders, his arms, his chest and his lips again. And suddenly her stomach growled. : : - Molly Harris growled at the touch of her lips. His body snapping to the ready to take her once more… needing to please her again and again. He was thankful the Holodeck was soundproof! But, as he pulled Molly in top of him, he heard her tummy growl. It took all he had to stop what was destined to happen once more and be a voice of reason. “Mols… Baby… you need to eat.” He said with a chuckle and a smile. And I think I do too” With a firm swat to her bare butt, he added with a cocky smirk “You can try to keep up again later.” Cal

Molly looked at Cal through narrow eyes, as a sly smile settled on her lips. Leaning forward, she placed her lips almost to his ear and whispered seductively “You wish…”

With a wink, Molly climbed off the bed. Cal was right. Both of them needed to eat. It had been far too long. As she sat naked on the edge of his holographic bed, Molly’s eyes settled on the Marine. She smiled. A true smile this time. And the look in her eyes told him exactly the feelings she had for him. With a contented sigh, Molly’s hand reached for Cal’s, and her fingers intertwined with his. She didn’t want to get up… to get food… to break the spell that they were both in. She just wanted to stay there, in that room, forever, throughout eternity. Alone, having only each other as company.

“Thank you.” the words escaped Molly’s lips. It was not clear what she was grateful for, and it felt like she didn’t know it herself. But it was almost as if she needed to say it. Eventually, Molly continued. “For… everything… I guess… for standing by me on the Turing. Both on board and after… Thank you for never giving up on me. For being there when I needed it… and… thank you for this. Thank you for looking past all the flaws that I am and to bring me here.” She smiled. “Calvin Harris… I must say… You are definitely a surprise…” She paused. “But one thing is certain… I could never had made it without you.” Leaning towards him again, Molly planted a soft kiss on his lips. “Thank you for never giving up on me.”

“Not at all” Cal said with a warm smile. Running his hand down Molly’s leg, Cal lend in and stole another intoxicating kiss. In his head, he wanted nothing more than to go right back to trying to break the holographic bed in which they now laid, but there was a voice of reason deep within warning that without rest and food, the Marine’s aggressive & passionate bedroom antics might lead to either another awkward exhaustion induced blackout or quite possibly… a heart attack. With a wink, Cal added. “Mol’s… you’re as smart as they come and a great officer. You do the job and do it better than anyone I know, myself included. The fact that your XO was a back stabbing facktard is irrelevant. I think and always have thought that Intel is lucky as hell to have ya. I’d never give up on a Troop I truly believed in… you included.”

At Cal’s words, Molly blushed slightly.

Straightening herself back up, she asked Cal. “Do you want to bring up the rest of our picnic? Or do you think Boomer ate it by now?”

  • Molly

“Knowing Boomer, that damn food’s been gone for hours. I’ll make us some sandwiches” He added with a laugh. With another kiss and a flirty tug of of Molly’s bottom lip with his teeth, Cal slipped from the sheets and into his boxers. “You comin’ beautiful of is this gonna be snacking in bed?” The Marine winked playfully from the now open door… a suspicious-looking and breadcrumb-faced Boomer standing behind him.

Cal

Molly softly licked her lip, still mesmerized by Cal’s kiss. She watched him put on his boxers through wanting eyes. With a slow look from the Marine’s head to toes, Molly replied “I wouldn’t mind snacking in bed… with the right kind of snack.” She gave him a seductive wink and another admiring glance. And her face broke into a joyful smile.

Putting her bottom underwear back on, Molly grabbed Cal’s shirt, slipped it through her head and followed the Marine to the kitchen.

Molly

As Molly left the room, Boomer walked dotingly beside her… occasionally brushing against her leg. When Cal caught sight of this as he rounded the stairs to go down, he laughed a booming laugh. “I really think I programmed Boomer TOO well! Even as a hologram, the damn dog’s a flirt!” He waited for Molly to join him at the top of the stairs and winked at Boomer. “I got’er from here boy.” To which the dog… scowled… at Cal and, nearly knocking the man off his feet, shot ahead of the couple down the stairs.

Rolling his eyes, Cal nodded down the stairs. “Yes… WAY too well.” Grinning widely at Molly, he added. “The old fart’s probably gonna try and cover up the evidence!”

Cal

Molly chuckled. “Like father, like son…” she commented with a playful wink. “When he has such a ladies man for an owner, Calvin, you can’t really blame him, can you?”

Harris snickered softly. “Watch it now, I’m off the market ya know… no more ladies man for this Marine.”

As they walked down the stairs, Molly’s fingers intertwined with Cal’s. She sighed contently and remained in silence until they reached the kitchen, appreciating every moment of the evening.

Cal loved the feel of Molly’s hand in his and he barely felt the steps beneath his feet as they reached the first floor, rounding into the living room. The fire sprang to life as they entered and as it was always programmed to do, Federation News Network (FNN) clicked on on the main view in the room over the fireplace. The talking heads were going on about a first contact with what appeared to be a long lost human colony on the remote planet of Beta Prime, a people that call themselves the Regians.

Molly caught the planet’s name and she found it to be vaguely familiar, but she didn’t dwell on it for too long.

When they finally reached their destination, Molly crouched next to Boomer and held out a hand to him. “Don’t mind Calvin.” She whispered into the dog’s ears loud enough for Cal to hear, as she scratched Boomer under his ears. “He’s just jealous of what we have, isn’t he?”

Molly

Harris froze for a moment watching Molly. It was like ice had splashed over him and as he watched, Molly became his beloved ‘Nessi… flirting with Boomer while sporting one of his favorite old shirts. The Marine felt the wave of panic wash over him… it was going to happen… again… he knew it. He was cursed and he suddenly found himself wanting out… immediately… of everything. The Holodeck, the Dresden, the Corps… he couldn’t take the curse that haunted him claiming another life.

Suddenly, without any warning, the Marine slipped below the cabinet and crashed to the floor.

Cal

The sudden sound startled both Molly and Boomer, who ran from Molly’s hands straight to his owner.

“Calvin?” Molly rushed to the Marine’s side and checked for his pulse. It was still there. Had he… fainted?

Worried, Wright patted his cheek a few times trying to make him wake up.

Molly

Cal immediately started to stir, looking up from the floor into Molly’s eyes… puzzled. The way the Marine looked at her would give Molly a shutter. As she looked down into his eyes, Molly knew at once that the man she loved wasn’t there. The man staring up at her was a man lost in time… haunted… and it was clear he saw someone else when his eyes fell on her’s.

As Molly looked into the Marine’s eyes she saw a gaze she had seen before. The one she had seen a long time ago at Starbase Halcyon, right before she became the CO of the Turing. Back then, she had blamed it on drunken stupor, but now there was nothing she could blame it on. Thinking it best to let the subject rest, Molly didn’t approach it.

Then, as suddenly as it had happened, it was gone. Cal shook his head slightly and his momentarily pale blue eyes flashed the brightest deep blue Molly had ever seen. His cheeks flushed, skin still a bit clammy, Cal asked softly… in a still confused tone. “Mol’s… what happened? Are you OK”

Cal

Cal would be able to see the worry in Molly’s eyes. “I am… why wouldn’t I be?” She paused and then continued, trying to choose her words carefully. “You fainted Calvin… Out of nowhere…” Placing her hand on his forehead she checked for his body temperature. “You need to eat. We’ve stayed way too long without food… How are you feeling?” Molly asked as she tried to help him slowly getting up.

Molly

Harris looked even more puzzled than before. Slowly climbing to his feet, Cal looked down quizzically at Molly. “I’m really not hungry Mol’s. I’m fine. You said I… fainted?” He looked at her in clear disbelief. It was as he looked down to her that Cal winced slightly and brought his hand to his hairline just above his right eye. Pulling his hand away from the now growing knot on the top of his forehead, the tips of Cal’s pointer and middle finger were red with blood.

Not hungry? In Molly’s head that was a definite warning that something wasn’t right, especially when coming from the mouth of someone who had just told her how they had drained all their energy and needed to eat…

“Huh!” The Marine huffed with a slight chuckle. “Guess you’re right, I did pass out. I wonder what the frack for.” Even Boomer looked shocked. The holographic dog walked gently to his master and nuzzled Cal’s left hand with his head. As Harris absentmindedly scratched the dog’s head, he nodded to the fridge behind Molly. “Babe… grab me a bag of frozen peas outta-da freezer… top self of the door.”

Cal

Opening the freezer, Molly took the peas and handed them to Cal. She was silent. Her mind working through what had just happened. She had a suspicion as to why Harris had fainted… a struggle she faced every day.

Sitting down, she asked Cal. “You know we can postpone the rest, right? If you’re not feeling well, maybe I should just take you to your quarters and give you something for you to eat there…” Not that she wanted it, but to her, he was the priority.

Molly

Cal chuckled softly. “Like hell I’m leavin’! I’ve waited for this night for far too long. It’s not gonna end over a bump on the head. I’ll be fine in a few minutes. That said…” He looked quizzically at Molly. “… what da’hell happened Mols’. I mean, I remember… well…” He gave Molly a flirty wink. “… then you were talking about food and… and…” He looked more concerned at the conversation this time. “… I woke up down here in the floor. How long have we been downstairs Babe?”

Cal

“You don’t remember?” Molly’s eyes shown the concern his words caused her, and Cal would be able to know that he was clearly missing part of the picture. “I… I don’t know… two or three minutes… are you sure you don’t want to go to Sickbay?” She sighed worriedly. “Please don’t make me drag you there, Calvin… You know I will.”

“Like hell I am.” Cal rolled his eyes. “I’m perfectly fine Mol’s… maybe I did just over do it.” As the Marine ran his fingers through his hair once more, he looked deep in thought for a moment before the expression passed.

The look in Cal’s eyes right after he regained consciousness told Molly that whatever had happened had been related to his past. Possibly with his ex-wife. The way he had looked at her had been the same way Cal had had in his eyes a few years ago at Starbase Halcyon when he had mistaken her for his deceased spouse right after Belle’s passing. Molly was a trained Intelligence officer. She could put two and two together. For a second, she wondered if she should bring the subject back.

After a long pause, Molly finally spoke “I think you confused me for Vanessa.”

Molly

Harris huffed as he climbed to his feet. “Don’t be stupid Molly. Why da’ hell would I confuse you for ‘Ness. Ridiculous!” Thing was, the tone in his voice wasn’t hostile or mean… it was the tone of someone very rapidly trying to change the subject. “Think…” Cal asked WAY more carefully than he usually did. “… think you could hand me a beer? Third shelf, left side.” Stepping toward the living room, Cal moved slower than his normal pace and seemed not as normally sure of his footing.

Cal

Molly recognized the tone. And she also recognized that Cal knew she was right. He just didn’t want to admit it. Instead, he was trying hard to change the subject to something else. Something wasn’t right. And if Molly had to guess, something hadn’t been right for a long time already.

Wright didn’t argue, but his next question surprised her. “No!” The word came more harshly than she meant it to be. “You just fainted Calvin! You’re not having a beer, and I most certainly am not giving you one! Syntethol or otherwise!” Molly observed his unstable walk for a second before continuing. “You can’t even walk right.”

She sighed heavily. What had started as an amazing first date, was quickly turning sour. “Calvin… you may fool a lot of people, but you can’t fool me. I’m not stupid, and you know it.” She paused for a moment, paced slightly next to him. “There was only one other time you looked at me the way you just did before you passed out. And that was at Halcyon, right after Belle—“ Molly couldn’t finish it. She swallowed her memories and carried on. “You were drunk, you had your TV on, and you thought I was Vanessa. You even tried to ‘make Ali a big sister’” Molly embellished her last words with air quotes.

Sitting down, Molly’s voice cracked. “You just gave me the same look…” She paused. “You can lie to your friends, you can even lie to yourself, Calvin… but don’t you dare lie to me.” Molly’s gaze seemed to penetrate the Marine’s. “I know that something is troubling you… and probably has been for a long time… but if you want me in the picture, you have to deal with it. With me, or someone else. But if I am in for a lifetime of being mistaken for your ex-wife and triggering something in you, I am out.”
