It was at that moment that Hannibal realized that he was getting ahead of himself. He wasn’t sure why he hadn’t realized it before. Maybe it was because he so desperately wanted to prove to everyone in Starfleet that he could still do that job. Maybe prove to star fleet that he was completely innocent in what had happened with those children. Prove to everyone that he still had it. Or was he just trying to prove it to himself.

“I’m sorry General, I seem to be getting ahead of my self. I didn’t even think to ask if you even wanted intelligence on who and why these creatures were here on your planet? I became so focused on trying to rescue my shipmates that I didn’t think to ask you for permission.” He felt a little deflated at how he had let his ego and his own personally quest for redemption to interfere with his judgement.

“Lieutenant…” General Shuan said rather softly. “… we’ll all been there. We want to help others, to do more than just stand around. It’s what makes us human after all, right?” Walking to Ashur, she patted the young man on the shoulder. “It takes someone special to stick their necks out for others in times like these. And it takes an even more special person to want to really get their hands dirty in finding a solution. You do what you feel you need to do, Lieutenant. My people will assist in what ever way we can.”

Hannibal smiled, “I want to get that intelligence, it is what I was trained to do. Do you have anything that can mask my body heat? If not, I’ll find some mud along the way.” He asked, as a plan started to form in his head.

The General smirked. “We broke the light barrier, Mr. Ashur…” And with a wink, added. “… we have what ever camo-tech you might need.” Motioning to the Squad Leader that had brought him in. “Get the Lieutenant what ever equipment he might need for his mission.” The man nodded “Yes General” and waved Ashur to him.

Shuan

Hannibal followed the captain out of the room. “If these are Romulans, it will make things easier. I spent a lot of time with them over the years.” He explained, “What i’m thinking is that I’ll sneak in there undetected and try and access the base. As I leave, I’ll send out a signal to you which will indicate that you will be free to blow it up.”

-COS

The Squad Leader nodded as they walked. “I think we can work that out for you Lieutenant. Any preference on your desired… boom?” The wiry smile crossed the man’s face as his Lieutenant trotted up to the pair. “You boys look like you’re to no good.” The brunette young woman laughed. “So Cap’…” She continued. “… we ready to roll out?” With a shrug, the Captain motioned to the COS. “Up to Starfleet when that is.... you ready?” He asked Hannibal flatly.

Squad Leader

Hannibal smiled at the two. “I’ve got no desired boom,” He replied to the Captain before turning his attention to the both.

“I’m ready to get this party started.”

-COS

The Captain nodded and motioned to the door. Outside waited a ground transport and the trio climbed in. After a rather quiet and focused trip, the craft came to a stop and the Captain opened the door, stepping. “This is as far as we can go. We can monitor comms and relay to your ship, but we can’t enter. You report on you’re way out and we’ll blow it. Sound good?”

Hannibal nodded in acknowledgment.

Squad Leader

Orin climbed out with a bag over his shoulder.

“I managed to make six smart proximity detanator plasma bombs. A little bit more kick than a grenade.” he said.

  • Orin, Engineering

Hannibal took the bag. “Thank you Commander.” he turned to the whole group. “Thanks for the help, see you on the other side.” He slung the bag over his shoulder nodded then turned and headed off into the trees towards the compound.

-COS

As Hannibal approached the compound from what appeared to be the northern side of the facility, he could make out an open hanger bay door to an empty bay. At the back of the bay were two Jem’Hadar guards on point beside a large door, above which was a sign that in large letters read ‘Corridor A’. Both guards were actively gripping back and forth about something but Hannibal was not near enough to hear.

The base was smaller than he might have expected, extending to the east several hundred feet while the west end… near the hanger bay… appeared to be the shorter way around to the back of what looked to be an approximately 25,000 square foot structure. Vegetation was heavy with plenty of cover to go around either side. The only question was which way… left (east - the long way) or right (west - appearing to be the shorter way).

Hannibal looked on ducking low in the nearby vegetation.
“Not Romulans, Jem’Hadar, great.” he muttered quietly as he observed the base. He looked around cautiously. Thinking he needed more information before he proceeded into the base, and decided to take the route the east. Moving slowly, trying to observe everything. He was looking for sensor equipment, patrols anything that might either give away his position, or allow him to follow a route in.

-COS

There were no patrols aside from the two guards, which were rather easy to slip by. The first side of the building was solid and secure. But as he rounded the corner, he was nearly seen by a Jem’Hadar trooper who stepped out a door and walked away from the COS’ position, leaving the door he left through open. This appeared to be the only real chance into the facility Hannibal had seen thus far.

Condor

Hannibal watched as the Jem’Hadar trooper walked away from the open door. It was curious, he didn’t recall Jem’Hadar being this careless in the past. He watched him for a moment, before turning his attention to the open door. He didn’t like this, it seemed to easy. He quickly looked around for something he could throw. Finding a rock, he threw it hard, away from him and near where the trooper was walking. He hoped it might get his attention enough to see if anyone else came out of the door to check on the noise.

Double checking his gear, he did his best to remain still in the shadows, breathing as slow and easy as possible, barely moving, watching the result of his distraction.

-COS

OOC: Sneaky ass!

IC: As the rock hit, two other Jem’Hadar Troopers swooped out the door after the sound, leaving the path open to the still open door. But for how long?

Condor

OCC: He he, btw did you get the e-mail I sent you?

IC: Hannibal smiled. Grabbing another rock he threw it deeper into the jungle, hoping to lure them further away. After the throw, he decided to take the risk. He darted towards the wall near the door and, doing his best to keep his movements to a minimum, he darted to the door and inside.
