Ellie sat in the middle of Main Engineering and looked around. She wasn’t sure what was next, but they had some repairs to make. She wheeled over to one of the consoles and began looking at the damage reports that would need to be taken care of.

Orin stepped into Engineering. Pausing in the doorway, he took a breath and made sure his uniform was neat. This was his first time in Engineering as Chief. He wasn’t sure he was ready to be in charge but wasn’t that normal for all command staff on their first command assignment?

‘Here we go.’ he thought as he stepped through the door.

Looking around, everything seemed to be in order. There were the small adjustments that needed to be made but that was a constant on a ship. Small things never went away, they just changed places. Otherwise, engineering felt content. As for the crew of the engineering department, well he’d just have to see.

Appearing that no-one was going to volunteer an update Orin called out.

“Someone give me a status report.”

OOC: Contacted my JO via email.

Ellie looked up “Yes Chief. We have repair teams at the shield emitters and secondary life support systems to ensure that all the damage has been corrected.” She said as she rolled over to the new Chief Engineer “We also have several teams at the nacelles working on repairing damage there. I am heading to the secondary computer core and work on repairs there.” She said “We have weapons and some warp engines.” Ellie added “We have teams finishing up on the engines.”

Engineering was aware of the engines kicking in as the Dresden was responding to the distress signal. From the sensor information which engineering had access to, they could see that they were heading to a potential firefight. The shields were now at about 81% and the speed was really pushing the less than pristine nacelles.

GM

Ellie sighed “Let me get the shields up to 100%. We need to get the nacelles repaired quickly as well.” She said looking at the CE “What do you want the teams to do?” She asked glad that she no longer needed to make the decisions.

KLeinhoffer (eng)

Orin didn’t hesitate.

“Prioritize structural integrity, shields, and weapons. If there’s anyone left to spare after that, put them on propulsion.” he said walking over to the main engineering station and bringing up the ship system displays, “I can feel her discomfort and we’ll get it sorted as quickly as possible.

Ellie nodded “We’ll get her straightened out.” She said as she headed to the shields and got to work.

Kleinhoffer (eng)

The engineer managed to bring up the shields back to 100%, but at a cost: the replenishing rate for shields went down by 8%. The ship computers had tried to compensate for the condition of the nacelles by diverting power to the nacelles thus reducing the shield replenishing rate. It was then that the engineer also noticed that the phaser banks charging rates were also slightly down. The effect of this on the potential firefight with the ships that the Dresden were moving to was not too significant, but the Dresden would have problems if they were to encounter a hostile Klingon D7 class ship.

GM

Ellie touched her comm badge =^=Cmd Orin. We need to get the Nacelles back up to speed. The shield regeneration speed is down 8% and phaser banks are also down. I have shields back to 100% but it was at the cost of that.” She said.

KLeinhoffer (eng)

=^=I see that on the console.=^= Orin commed back while looking to see what he could do about the power deficiencies through the consoles, =^=Looks like we’ll have to prioritize propulsion after all. Pull a few engineers from the other systems and get the nacelles up as much as you can in the time we have. I’d rather have a higher recharge rate than capacity right now. I guess we’ll have to go for rate of fire and speed over endurance and power.=^=

  • LtCdr Orin, CE

Ellie nodded as she responded =^=Yes sir.=^= She motioned to the two engineers that were with her and commed =^=Alvin and Simon. Meet me in the Nacelles and get them repaired.=^= She said as she moved toward the nacelles. Her chair able to get into the area that needed to be repaired.

Kleinhoffer (eng)

Ellie arrived at the nacelles and began working with her team on making the needed repairs to get more energy to the ship as they needed. She wasn’t sure what she was going to find once she got in there.

Kleinhoffer (eng)

At closer inspection, the problems were found to be worn out magnetic relay parts that kept the plasma from melting the nacelles themselves. Whilst the insides of the nacelles were not melted per se, the irregular distribution of heat had caused the problem with the nacelles not working at optimal condition.

GM

Ellie looked at her readings and touched her comm badge =^=Chief, we’ve got worn out magnetic relays up here.” She said “We need to work on replacing these relays to regulate the heat distribution.=^= She said as she began slowly moving through the nacelle that she was in and began working on making repairs =^=If you could replicate about 15 or 20 magnetic relays and send them to the port nacelle, I’ll start working on those.=^= Ellie said.

Kleinhoffer (eng)

=^=I’ll get a team right on it.=^= Orin replied as he got the crew of NEs busy getting magnetic relays made.

  • LtCdr Orin, CE

They were successful in repairing the nacelles.

GM

With the shields and nacelles repaired, =^=Let’s get teams back to working on the structural integrity fields and phasers.=^=

Orin felt the shift of the ships state when the nacelles were restored and made some adjustments from his master console to fine tune the system.
