Harris immediately sighed, suddenly feeling like a small town cop caught in a Farmer’s Market fight over a damn piece of fruit. “Alright…” The Marine began, clearly now equally annoyed with both parties. The last thing he wanted was to get stuck unwittingly aiding and abetting a worthless ass grave robber. “… let’s take it from the top. But before you answer, Mr. Lorenzo, please be aware that this transmission is being recorded…” He nodded to the Comm Officer, who immediately tapped a red RECORD button on her console. “… violation of the UFP’s ESCA (OOC: Educational, Scientific and Cultural Accords) Guidelines for off-worlders… acquiring… protected Cultural properties is a felony. With that being said, why is Captain Ryu accusing you as such?”

Col. Harris, CO

Orin was slightly surprised. from his previous experiences, recording of official communications was standard.

“I had paid for the piece with the credits that was agreed upon,” said Lorenzo. “They had taken my money and wanted the piece back. Who are the robbers here?”

GM

Hannibal looked down at the tactical display as the parties spoke, Making sure that either party wasn’t trying something while they were talking.

-COS

Sensors showed that Lorenzo’s ship had been repaired and the warp core was online once again.

Standing on a dark corner in the back of the Bridge, arms crossed over her chest, Molly watched the scene unfold. As she became more and more bored with the circumstances, she wondered if there were ‘local’ authorities that were better suited to deal with the situation than them. After all, it was starting to look more and more like they had fallen in the middle of a petty dispute over some piece of art.

Moments earlier, her research into the Ardanans had revealed some interesting tidbits of information about Lorenzo of Stratos — his love for art, and his art gifts to his clients. She wondered for a moment how he acquired his pieces.

“Alright Mr. Lorenzo…” Harris began flatly, looking now directly to the man on comm. “… what evidence do you have that proves you are, now, the rightful owner of the property being claimed as stolen? A contract, a receipt… anything?” The Marine stifled the snort as he realized he was sounding less like a Marine and more like a cop.

Harris, Sheriff ‘round des’ parts

OOC: Sorry, clicked too close to the submit button before.

IC: “Captain,” said the Andanan suavely, “We had a spoken agreement. There was no need for it to be written down.”

Suddenly, the Andanan ship reversed at full impulse and in two seconds had gone into warp.

The Efrosian ship powered up their engines when the Andanan ship began its move.

GM

Orin had felt the ship prepare to run but the feeling and the even were so close together that he didn’t have time to voice a warning.

The sudden exclamations on the Bridge made Molly lift her head from her PaDD and glance back at the viewscreen. The Ardanan ship was gone. An innocent man doesn’t run… Molly thought. No matter how Lorenzo pleaded, he certainly seemed much more guilty now.

Capt. Wright, CIO

Amelia had sat silently on her chair to the right side of Harris during the whole exchange. Unwritten agreements were common among the high society or amidst powerful circles, so the Ardanan’s words did not surprise her. This was usually because powerful people had a liking to keeping said power, and many times the deals and people they were arranged with were not the most licit of businesses.

Manning hadn’t liked Lorenzo the moment he had opened her mouth. She knew the type. She had lived among them. And she despised every single one of them. This one was no exception. The moment his ship disappeared into the void, in her mind she knew for a fact he was guilty.

“Colonel, I think that Mr. Lorenzo doesn’t need protection anymore…”

Lt. Cmdr. Manning, XO

=/\=Dresden, we are going to give chase. Please allow us to do so.=/\= the Efrosian Captain said.

GM

=A= With pleasure, Captain Ryu…=A= Harris growled as his fist slammed onto the arm of the Centre Chair. =A=… we’ll take point.=A= He snapped as he killed the video feed and nodded to the Helmsman. “Pursuit Course Ms. Greyhawk…” With a motion toward the screen, Harris commanded. “… punch it”

Harris, CO

Orin extended opened himself to the Dresden ready to make on the fly adjustments.

The sensors indicated that the Ardanan had moved towards the star system 16 Cygni. The ship was moving at warp 9.

GM

ETA for the Ardanan ship to the 16 Cygni system was about 8 hours and 17 minutes.

GM

Harris leaned forward in the Command Chair and pursed his lips for just a moment before commands started to flow.

“Comm…” He barked. “… drop a line to Fleet Command. Advise we are in pursuit of a vessel believed to be in possession of stolen cultural artifacts of a Federation Ally. Will advise once suspect ship is in custody.”

“Helm… as soon as we start to close on that ship, I want to know immediately.” The Marine snapped.

Turning to Wright, he said flatly. “Pull all available files on that ship and go over with Tac any scans we got before they bolted.”

“Tactical…” He continued. “… I want firing solutions the moment we get in range, fire a single salvo across his nose and if doesn’t stop… blow’er nacelles.”

Harris turned to the Security Chief. “Have your Alpha and Bravo teams suited up and in the Transporter Room in five.”

With that, Harris stood from the Chair and began walking toward the Ready Room. “Exec… you’re with me. Orin, you have the Conn.” And stepped through into the Ready Room.

Harris, CO

Orin looked up.

“Aye sir.” he snapped smartly and moved to the command chair.

This would be his first non simulated run in the command chair. He had plenty of experience being left in charge of the trade station but that never went anywhere. During that time he had made extensive use of the command training library and challenged the course during a six week ‘vacation’ to the academy and passed it with high recommendations.

Orin got a far away look for a moment as his feet slowly brushed along the decking in front of the chair.

“Tactical, pull ten percent of the power from the lateral and aft sensor arrays and channel it into the forward arrays and narrow the sensor area by fifteen degrees. That should boost our forward range and resolution by about twenty percent each.”
