Harris immediately sighed, suddenly feeling like a small town cop caught in a Farmer’s Market fight over a damn piece of fruit. “Alright…” The Marine began, clearly now equally annoyed with both parties. The last thing he wanted was to get stuck unwittingly aiding and abetting a worthless ass grave robber. “… let’s take it from the top. But before you answer, Mr. Lorenzo, please be aware that this transmission is being recorded…” He nodded to the Comm Officer, who immediately tapped a red RECORD button on her console. “… violation of the UFP’s ESCA (OOC: Educational, Scientific and Cultural Accords) Guidelines for off-worlders… acquiring… protected Cultural properties is a felony. With that being said, why is Captain Ryu accusing you as such?”

Col. Harris, CO

Orin was slightly surprised. from his previous experiences, recording of official communications was standard.

  • LtCdr Orin, CE

“I had paid for the piece with the credits that was agreed upon,” said Lorenzo. “They had taken my money and wanted the piece back. Who are the robbers here?”

GM

Hannibal looked down at the tactical display as the parties spoke, Making sure that either party wasn’t trying something while they were talking.

-COS

Sensors showed that Lorenzo’s ship had been repaired and the warp core was online once again.

Standing on a dark corner in the back of the Bridge, arms crossed over her chest, Molly watched the scene unfold. As she became more and more bored with the circumstances, she wondered if there were ‘local’ authorities that were better suited to deal with the situation than them. After all, it was starting to look more and more like they had fallen in the middle of a petty dispute over some piece of art.

Moments earlier, her research into the Ardanans had revealed some interesting tidbits of information about Lorenzo of Stratos — his love for art, and his art gifts to his clients. She wondered for a moment how he acquired his pieces.

“Alright Mr. Lorenzo…” Harris began flatly, looking now directly to the man on comm. “… what evidence do you have that proves you are, now, the rightful owner of the property being claimed as stolen? A contract, a receipt… anything?” The Marine stifled the snort as he realized he was sounding less like a Marine and more like a cop.

Harris, Sheriff ‘round des’ parts

OOC: Sorry, clicked too close to the submit button before.

IC: “Captain,” said the Andanan suavely, “We had a spoken agreement. There was no need for it to be written down.”

Suddenly, the Andanan ship reversed at full impulse and in two seconds had gone into warp.

The Efrosian ship powered up their engines when the Andanan ship began its move.

GM

Orin had felt the ship prepare to run but the feeling and the even were so close together that he didn’t have time to voice a warning.

  • LtCdr Orin, CE

The sudden exclamations on the Bridge made Molly lift her head from her PaDD and glance back at the viewscreen. The Ardanan ship was gone. An innocent man doesn’t run… Molly thought. No matter how Lorenzo pleaded, he certainly seemed much more guilty now.

Capt. Wright, CIO

Amelia had sat silently on her chair to the right side of Harris during the whole exchange. Unwritten agreements were common among the high society or amidst powerful circles, so the Ardanan’s words did not surprise her. This was usually because powerful people had a liking to keeping said power, and many times the deals and people they were arranged with were not the most licit of businesses.

Manning hadn’t liked Lorenzo the moment he had opened her mouth. She knew the type. She had lived among them. And she despised every single one of them. This one was no exception. The moment his ship disappeared into the void, in her mind she knew for a fact he was guilty.

“Colonel, I think that Mr. Lorenzo doesn’t need protection anymore…”

Lt. Cmdr. Manning, XO

=/\=Dresden, we are going to give chase. Please allow us to do so.=/\= the Efrosian Captain said.

GM

=A= With pleasure, Captain Ryu…=A= Harris growled as his fist slammed onto the arm of the Centre Chair. =A=… we’ll take point.=A= He snapped as he killed the video feed and nodded to the Helmsman. “Pursuit Course Ms. Greyhawk…” With a motion toward the screen, Harris commanded. “… punch it”

Harris, CO

Orin extended opened himself to the Dresden ready to make on the fly adjustments.

  • LtCdr Orin, CE

The sensors indicated that the Ardanan had moved towards the star system 16 Cygni. The ship was moving at warp 9.

GM

ETA for the Ardanan ship to the 16 Cygni system was about 8 hours and 17 minutes.

GM

Harris leaned forward in the Command Chair and pursed his lips for just a moment before commands started to flow.

“Comm…” He barked. “… drop a line to Fleet Command. Advise we are in pursuit of a vessel believed to be in possession of stolen cultural artifacts of a Federation Ally. Will advise once suspect ship is in custody.”

“Helm… as soon as we start to close on that ship, I want to know immediately.” The Marine snapped.

Turning to Wright, he said flatly. “Pull all available files on that ship and go over with Tac any scans we got before they bolted.”

“Aye Sir.” Came Molly’s voice from the far corner of the Bridge, startling any crew member that might not have seen her come in. Immediately, she moved to an empty console and sent a request for the scans to the Tactical station. Without missing a beat, she started to pull any information she might be able to – both at her clearance level and lower – about the ship commanded by the Ardanan.

Capt. Wright, CIO

The man was a main supplier of parts to Starfleet ships. He had personal friendships with two Starfleet Admirals, who had helped him in his acquisition of art pieces. There was nothing illegal with their dealings. His ship was rather more well fitted than the usual freight ship. He had held certain patents of technologies used in Starfleet ships. It was reported that it was more manoeuvrable than runabouts. It was fitted with a small but powerful warp drive, capable of reaching Warp 9.8. Weapons were the standard phasers. There were about a dozen photon torpedoes but a ship of that size (about six decks high and 150 metres long) did not have more storage space.

OOC: Oops, I missed this one. My bad! — Joana

IC:
Molly cocked an eyebrow at the documents showing on her search.

“Commander, from what both Tactical and I can gather, the Ardanan ship is quite manoeuvrable, has six decks and can reach warp 9.8. As far as weaponry is concerned, it holds standard phasers and twelve photon torpedoes…” Molly reported while working on the rest of the information she had gathered.

Her security clearance did wonders when it came to dig up the kind of people they were chasing. Tapping her console a few more times, she forwarded what she had found to Cal’s PaDD and pulled the information on the two Starfleet Admirals referred as Lorenzo’s personal friends. She wanted to know who they would be dealing with.

Capt. Wright, CIO

“Tactical…” He continued. “… I want firing solutions the moment we get in range, fire a single salvo across his nose and if doesn’t stop… blow’er nacelles.”

“Aye Sir.” Came an insecure voice from the second tactical station. Ensign Johansson had been assigned to the Dresden a few weeks before and he had been caught in the middle of the whole situation, but he was determined to see it through and prove his worth. The fact that he seemed to be immensely terrified of Harris didn’t help.

Harris turned to the Security Chief. “Have your Alpha and Bravo teams suited up and in the Transporter Room in five.”

With that, Harris stood from the Chair and began walking toward the Ready Room. “Exec… you’re with me. Orin, you have the Conn.” And stepped through into the Ready Room.

Harris, CO

“Yes, Sir.” Amelia acknowledged, promptly standing up and following Harris to the Ready Room.

Lt. Cmdr. Manning, XO

Orin looked up.

“Aye sir.” he snapped smartly and moved to the command chair.

This would be his first non simulated run in the command chair. He had plenty of experience being left in charge of the trade station but that never went anywhere. During that time he had made extensive use of the command training library and challenged the course during a six week ‘vacation’ to the academy and passed it with high recommendations.

Orin got a far away look for a moment as his feet slowly brushed along the decking in front of the chair.

“Tactical, pull ten percent of the power from the lateral and aft sensor arrays and channel it into the forward arrays and narrow the sensor area by fifteen degrees. That should boost our forward range and resolution by about twenty percent each.”

  • LtCdr Orin, CE

“Yes Sir.” The same meek voice as before made itself heard on the Bridge. This time a little more assertively, as Johansson frantically tapped his console to fulfill what had been requested of him.

The Dresden was catching up to the Ardanan ship but the Efrosians were being left behind.

GM

After some time passed, the sensors showed that the Ardanan ship would be in weapons’ range in ten minutes.

GM

“The Efrosian ship is lagging behind, Sir, but the Ardanan ship will be in weapon’s range in ten minutes. Ready to fire the weapon’s salvo on your mark.” Came the heavily Scandinavian accented voice of the Ensign at the second tactical station.

NE Johansson, Tactical

Orin took only a moment.

“Message the Efrosian ship and ask if they want us to intercept or hold back and wait for them.”

Orin would prefer to intercept but he didn’t want to step on any political toes.

  • LtCdr Orin, CE

The Efrosians had said that they would be grateful if the Ardanan ship could be detained.

GM

OCC: Sorry about my absence.

IC: Hannibal returned to the bridge and approached tactical.

“Ensign, what have we got?” He asked the NE at tactical, as he waited for the relieve brief, he looked at the display.

-COS

Orin nodded. He hated harming machines, but also knew that it couldn’t always be avoided.

“I want focused ECM and signal jamming on that ship. Target propulsion and sensors using phasers only. We’ll worry about weapons if they want to try manual targeting after they’re blinded.”

  • LtCdr Orin, CE

The Ardanan ship was going to be in photon torpedo range in 8 minutes.

OOC: Photon range is 2.5 million km; phaser range is 300,000 km FYI.

GM

OOC: Yeah, but we want to detain them, not indiscriminately blow chunks off. LOL

Jud

OOC: I know. That was what the ECM was about. I was just posting to keep from getting AWOL. :)

Kenson

=A= Mr. Orin… =A= Came the sharp snap of the Dresden’s Commanding Officer over the shipboard comm. =A=… status report Commander. =A= There was no harshness in the Marine’s voice, it was smooth and cool as he awaited his response.

Harris, CO
