“Tactical…” He continued. “… I want firing solutions the moment we get in range, fire a single salvo across his nose and if doesn’t stop… blow’er nacelles.”

“Aye Sir.” Came an insecure voice from the second tactical station. Ensign Johansson had been assigned to the Dresden a few weeks before and he had been caught in the middle of the whole situation, but he was determined to see it through and prove his worth. The fact that he seemed to be immensely terrified of Harris didn’t help.

Harris turned to the Security Chief. “Have your Alpha and Bravo teams suited up and in the Transporter Room in five.”

With that, Harris stood from the Chair and began walking toward the Ready Room. “Exec… you’re with me. Orin, you have the Conn.” And stepped through into the Ready Room.

Harris, CO

“Yes, Sir.” Amelia acknowledged, promptly standing up and following Harris to the Ready Room.

Lt. Cmdr. Manning, XO

Orin looked up.

“Aye sir.” he snapped smartly and moved to the command chair.

This would be his first non simulated run in the command chair. He had plenty of experience being left in charge of the trade station but that never went anywhere. During that time he had made extensive use of the command training library and challenged the course during a six week ‘vacation’ to the academy and passed it with high recommendations.

Orin got a far away look for a moment as his feet slowly brushed along the decking in front of the chair.

“Tactical, pull ten percent of the power from the lateral and aft sensor arrays and channel it into the forward arrays and narrow the sensor area by fifteen degrees. That should boost our forward range and resolution by about twenty percent each.”

  • LtCdr Orin, CE

“Yes Sir.” The same meek voice as before made itself heard on the Bridge. This time a little more assertively, as Johansson frantically tapped his console to fulfill what had been requested of him.

The Dresden was catching up to the Ardanan ship but the Efrosians were being left behind.

GM

After some time passed, the sensors showed that the Ardanan ship would be in weapons’ range in ten minutes.

GM

“The Efrosian ship is lagging behind, Sir, but the Ardanan ship will be in weapon’s range in ten minutes. Ready to fire the weapon’s salvo on your mark.” Came the heavily Scandinavian accented voice of the Ensign at the second tactical station.

NE Johansson, Tactical

Orin took only a moment.

“Message the Efrosian ship and ask if they want us to intercept or hold back and wait for them.”

Orin would prefer to intercept but he didn’t want to step on any political toes.

  • LtCdr Orin, CE

The Efrosians had said that they would be grateful if the Ardanan ship could be detained.

GM

OCC: Sorry about my absence.

IC: Hannibal returned to the bridge and approached tactical.

“Ensign, what have we got?” He asked the NE at tactical, as he waited for the relieve brief, he looked at the display.

-COS

Johansson looked nervously at the Chief of Security. “Right.” He said anxiously before clearing his throat. “It seems that we have quite an interesting ship on our hands, Sir. Small, can reach up to warp 9.8…” He said as he pointed to the specs on his console. “Just the standard phasers as weapons from what I can see… and a dozen photon torpedoes… Should be in range within ten minutes.”

NE Johansson, Tactical

“Thank you, Why don’t you take the aft security console, we may need you soon.” Hannibal suggested

Orin nodded. He hated harming machines, but also knew that it couldn’t always be avoided.

“I want focused ECM and signal jamming on that ship. Target propulsion and sensors using phasers only. We’ll worry about weapons if they want to try manual targeting after they’re blinded.”

  • LtCdr Orin, CE

“Aye Sir.” Hannibal replied sharply. After a brief moment he responded. “Ready”

The Ardanan ship was going to be in photon torpedo range in 8 minutes.

Hannibal could see the target clearly on his console. He could also see the Efrosians drifting further and further behind as the ship moved.

GM

OOC: Photon range is 2.5 million km; phaser range is 300,000 km FYI.

GM

OOC: Yeah, but we want to detain them, not indiscriminately blow chunks off. LOL

Jud

OOC: I know. That was what the ECM was about. I was just posting to keep from getting AWOL. :)

Kenson

=A= Mr. Orin… =A= Came the sharp snap of the Dresden’s Commanding Officer over the shipboard comm. =A=… status report Commander. =A= There was no harshness in the Marine’s voice, it was smooth and cool as he awaited his response.

Harris, CO

-COS

=^=We are closing on the Ardanan ship. The Efrosians requested that we detain them so I’m waiting for us to get into phaser range to disable their propulsion and sensors.=^= Orin responded to the comm as he waited for the range to close.

  • LtCdr Orin, CE

Keeping an eye on the viewscreen and an ear on the orders being shouted on the Bridge, Molly kept trying to access any kind of information on the two Admirals previous documents had mentioned. She wanted to know exactly who they were dealing with.

Capt. Wright, CIO

=A= Thank you, Mr. Orin… we’re coming out. =A=

Harris, CO

Hannibal kept the weapons lock while he awaited new orders.

-COS

OOC: Sorry for the absence. RL just caused time to move so fast. Before I realised it, more than a week has passed since my last post.

IC: Just before the CO emerged from his ready room, Wright was able to ascertain that the Admirals connected to the Ardanan were Admiral Leonard Stein, once head of Logistics in Starfleet. He was retired but still in Starfleet in an advisory capacity, and Admiral Lee Valerius, who was co-chair of the Starship design approval committee and also a member of the Interplanetary Relations Council in Starfleet.

GM

Colonel Calvin Harris emerged from the Ready Room, his Exec right behind him. Walking to the Centre Chair, the Marine glanced at the screen and then to the Dresden’s Chief Engineer. “Commander, when will we be in range of the Teleporters?” Harris then turned a side glance to Manning and smiled slightly. “You were right Exec… we don’t… /always/… have to blow stuff up.”

Col. Harris, CO

“Transporters sir? I’m not sure. Tactical, time to transporter range?” Orin called out.

Looking to the CO as he vacated the chair, “I would still recommend phasers to bring their shields down as attempting transport onto a shielded vessel carries significant risks.”

  • LtCdr Orin, CE

Harris settled into the Command Chair and nodded. “That’s exactly what I plan to do.” Pausing for but a moment, the Marine smiled slightly as he looked back at the CE. “Commander Orin, the moment we are within range of the transporters… and not before… I want you to be ready to aid Tactical in burning out that ship’s Shields. That should knock out their Deflector and drop them from Warp. The second that’s done, get us a lock with Tractor Beams. Ya followin’ so far?” The Marine asked with a grin.

He then continued. “When that’s secure, I want a transporter lock on every living person on that ship and we’ll Beam’em to Bay One.” Harris turned to his COS. “Lieutenant Ashur… when they arrive, I want a Security team waiting on them.”

Harris looked to his Intel Chief. “Captain Wright… can you slave their Flight Controls from the Dresden once their shield’s are down? If not, once they are off ship, you can lead a team to take control of the ship from within?”

Harris, CO

Whilst they had already reached photon torpedo range, it would be another 90 seconds before they reached transporter range.
