Mason took a moment to pause after the last meeting he’d just with his Petty Officer, and blew a long slow breath out. His stay on the Dresden was just beginning but alread the slew of paperwork that had headed his way was nothing short of an avalanche of virtual carbon. It forced him to leave his extracurriculars, both legal and highly illegal, to the side as he got up to speed. Thankfully Petty Officer Trant was a solid NCO, and knew her way around those under her command. The fact that she’d already briefed him on all the different problem children, grumblers, superstars, and solid personnel was a blessing. She deserved a little reward for doing the best job he’d ever seen greeting a new officer to a posting.

There was one constant that Mason had quickly come to learn aboard the Dresden. If you wanted something nice that wasn’t spat out of a replicator there was only one stop worth your time, and that was the Ops Officer Stores. The officer sat back down in his desk before shooting a quick message to the other officer, asking where and when would be a good time to meet to talk over acquisition of morale improving items. Sending the message off the Maquis sympathizer stretched with a long groan before turning back to his paperwork. No rest for the weary and all that.

=^= If it’s official business I can come to you, if it’s off the books swing buy the Operations Lounge after shift.=^= Came the reply, with Stores working from his HUD most of the time his replies were always prompt. The accompaniment deck and frame number was in the senior officers quarters close to Masons own.

Stores

Mason quickly typed out his reply. =^=I’ll be in the Ops Lounge after shift then. Thanks for replying so quickly.=^=

Glad to have a plan on what to do for his petty officer the officer began to dig into the backlog of paperwork. The end of shift was coming, and he needed to review four more personnel files , look over two equipment manifests, and write an report on the status of section before that. Focusing on the task before him the engineer set himself to work.

Finally free of the incessant paperwork that had dogged his every step throughout the workday Mason began to head over to the Operations Lounge. It took him a moment to find his way, but in just a few moments he was standing before the lounge door.

He decided to play things a little older school, and rapped his knuckles on the lounge hatch, and then took a moment to wait.

The hatch slid open on what had been a standard department head’s quarters. But where the main room was once intended to be an extension of the officers quarters, Stores had made it a comfortable place to entertain.
Stepping out of the back room that was originally intended as the sleeping quarters in his old overall’s and a tool belt the OPPs chief smiled “Welcome to my new digs Chief. ” Stores grinned” Looks like the CO has promoted the last of her problem children, hasn’t she!”.

Stores.
