The comms are not compromised. The source of them seems to be coming from a terminal outside of the field in the aft of the alien ship… fortunately near the docking portal you all found. The majority of life signs on the ship are in the field, including the human one, but there are about a dozen that are clear of it and moving around in the rear of the vessel.

Priscilla shook her head. “No, the loop is so minuscule it’s not an issue. Not even a full second. But the ones we are talking to are outside that sphere of influence, so our conversations aren’t compromised.” She glanced a bit harder at the screen then turned to the others with a slight frown on her face. “And there is a human aboard their ship. Outside the sphere.” The declaration was made with both certainty and confusion. Sure, a human on their ship made sense. If the Dresden were hooked to the station and this happened, she’d probably have someone from there on this ship as well. But it hadn’t occurred to her, till now, to even look for one. “Maybe they can help speed up the dialog and help us understand what’s occurred.”

She then looked at Drillek. “Do you think there are scientists, outside the sphere of influence, that could help us on the station? A connection there would be extremely helpful as well.” She wasn’t sure why they weren’t talking to the station at this moment, as well. Sure, she hadn’t thought of it till now, either. But now she had. And getting it ‘straight from the horse’s mouth’, so to speak, would be the best thing for all of them. Wouldn’t it?

Drillek looked at Simms for a long moment before speaking. “Lieutenant… unless you have scans that I don’t have, you should be seeing the entire station encompassed in that field. So I am confused as to why you would think there is someone on the station that isn’t affected. But, let us hypothesize. If there is someone safe within the field… the systems themselves are in the field, and therefore stuck in the same loop as everything else. So what do you propose we do to ‘make that connection’, as it were?”

At that time, the proximity alert sounded. The Dresden was within docking range of the alien ship.

“That’s quite enough, Doctor.” Holloway snapped at Drillek. As the Dresden closed in on the alien vessel, and after the docking mechanism had been set, the Engineer’s behavior had become a little too much on the aggressive side for Molly’s liking. She understood that he had a personal connection to the station in the form of his son. So maybe that was putting the man a little on edge. Holloway made a mental note about it.

Renveer’s attention snapped to Lieutenant Simms. “A human? On their ship?” It was an alarming development… deciphering the intentions of the aliens was already difficult, but now it appeared that not only did the aliens dock with the station before the anomaly appeared, but a human had been taken aboard their ship… whether willingly or not they had no way to tell at this moment.

The executive officer looked to Captain Holloway. “Captain, what are your thoughts on the away team? Lieutenant Forgrave is a must, and sending Colonel Harris wouldn’t hurt. Given the nature of the anomaly, it might be good to send Lieutenant Simms to get a closer look. And if negotiations are a concern… Lieutenant Gadi would have expertise in that department.” He declined to mention that one of the two of them should also accompany the away team, knowing that Holloway would handle that decision. Still, part of him hoped to be sent on the mission. This was a new species, after all. Met under unfortunate circumstances, yes, but this was what he lived for. Cultural exchange was his specialty, after all.

Molly shook her head. Her eyes darting from Renveer to Simms, and back to Renveer. “Unfortunately we can’t take everybody, Commander.” Holloway’s tone was serious, but there was a glint in her eye that let on a hint of amusement. “The scans detected life signs in the stasis field, so Dr. Janvier should come along. She can also be the scientific liaison between the away team and the Bridge.” There was no doubt in Molly’s mind that she would also go. If anything were to happen, she trusted herself to get out of danger without putting members of the crew unnecessarily at risk. However, she also knew she needed someone a bit more diplomatic than herself should the need arise, and as much as she wanted Renveer by her side, she would rather trust the Dresden’s Bridge to his capable hands than anyone else. With a soft sigh, Molly gave Renveer an apologetic glance as she continued. “You’ll have the Bridge. I’ll take Gadi.” Plus, if anything happens, she’s Intel. Molly silently added to herself.

With a nod, Holloway looked around. “Forgrave, Harris. You’re with me.”

As she walked with large strides away from the Bridge, she tapped her commbadge. =/\= Holloway to Gadi and Janvier. I need you both at the docking port to greet our guests. =/\=

OOC: I am not entirely sure which docking port would be the correct one, but I know that magically everyone will be at the correct one. :p – Joana

Hsull stepped from the turbolift onto the bridge, immediately noticing the activity. He had decided to briefly visit the bridge and familiarize himself with the Tactical layout, and once again appeared to have walked into a somewhat tense situation. He had caught the tail end of the Captain’s commands, “Ma’am, I assume we are preparing to visit our new friends over there. May I suggest diplomacy..... with caution. Please use care.” Hsull walked to the tactical station and leaned his cane against it, before observing that all systems were in a green status. “I believe I speak for all here when I say that we would like to have you back here in one piece.” Hsull sighed, “I can tell you from personal experience that the alternative hurts like hell.” He once again scanned the readouts on the tactical display and reached out a furred hand to make some minor adjustments.

Molly smiled warmly at Hsull. It lasted only a split second, but it was already more acknowledgement than Holloway many times gave. “I’ll keep that in mind, Chief.” She said. There was a hint of amusement in her tone. Burnt one of your nine lives? Molly thought it, but didn’t say it. She was familiar with the alternative Hsull mentioned, though. But she didn’t mention that either.

Renveer nodded his understanding to Captain Holloway and turned back to the viewscreen to observe the alien vessel for a moment. When she had left the bridge, Renveer walked over to Lieutenant Simms. “We fashioned a few probes on the way here, do you think there’d be anything to be gained by sending one into the anomaly? Maybe it’d give us more precise data on how the distortion works, exactly. Which could help us figure out a method to dispel it.”

Priscilla had been about to retort when the Captain had piped up then departed. Turning away from Drillek, suddenly not so pleased with his attitude and hoping it was just the stress of the proximity to the station and the inability to get to it, she nodded to the XO as he asked about the probes. “Of course. If they can get in and out of the anomaly. And can keep their data in the process.” She started to pull up the specs on the modified probes.

He looked over to Chief Hsull’s station. “Run continuous scans of the area and warn us if there are any incoming ships. We’re lucky pirates and scavengers didn’t find them before we did, but they might not be far behind us.” He considered the alien ship once again. “And see if we can determine that vessel’s main offensive capabilities. We want to be prepared for any possibility once they’re free of the anomaly.” He was still wary of their intentions. They might be a fly caught in a web at the moment, but who’s to say they wouldn’t turn into the spider once they were free.

(Lt. Cmdr. Renveer, XO)

It didn’t take long for Holloway’s voice to come back through the comms. This time, it was obvious that she was not in good spirits.

=/\= Holloway to Renveer. Our new friends attacked Lieutenant Forgrave. He’s stable, but there’s still plenty we don’t know. If we do not have an open channel with them, I need you to open one and ask what the hell is going on. They seemed in need of our help, but if they don’t need it, we can just leave them here with the anomaly and figure out some other way to go about it. Keep me posted. Holloway out. =/\=

The idea of an attack as soon as they boarded was not a good way to begin. Priscilla frowned as she went over the final settings for the probe. She had the trajectory set so it would approach as close to the central set of windows as possible. She needed to be sure those inside were still up and about. It might make a difference. Sure, they were experiencing a loop… but if there was a way to insinuate something in their field of vision that may help…

It was a long shot but she was trying to think of a way to communicate with the station since they couldn’t actually communicate.

The probes were set and ready. Whether or not they would be affected by the field was unknown.
