The idea of an attack as soon as they boarded was not a good way to begin. Priscilla frowned as she went over the final settings for the probe. She had the trajectory set so it would approach as close to the central set of windows as possible. She needed to be sure those inside were still up and about. It might make a difference. Sure, they were experiencing a loop… but if there was a way to insinuate something in their field of vision that may help…

It was a long shot but she was trying to think of a way to communicate with the station since they couldn’t actually communicate.

The probes were set and ready. Whether or not they would be affected by the field was unknown.

GMT

Renveer spun back around to look at the viewscreen, stomach turning. His experience as a counselor emphasized the importance of communication, especially when defusing a situation such as the one they now found themselves in. The language barrier was probably still unbroken, considering that their peaceful intentions had seemingly not been conveyed to the aliens accurately. Singing was not his strong suit, but Renveer swallowed his pride and moved to stand in the center of the bridge.

He identified the alien of smaller-stature that had appeared to calm the others during the last part of their conversation. Renveer cleared his throat and paused for just a moment to consider his medium. He settled on a trill nursery rhyme, hoping that the familiar tune would give him something to anchor his pitch.

“We would like-” he coughed as his voice wavered, then took a deep breath to start over.

~”We would like to help you out,
We docked with you to assist
Why would you attack us now?
Please explain so we calm down”~

Renveer tried to appear confident in the attempt, but it was a shoddy rendition at best. Hopefully his performance wasn’t insulting at least.

(Lt. Cmdr. Renveer, XO)

There was no response from the ship. In fact, there were no beings visible on the screen, although comms were open.

OOC: Crossposting as from my understanding, that’s where Hsull is. If I am mistaken, feel free to void it! :) – Joana

Hsull had been watching the scene unfold and wasn’t too terribly surprised at the attack on the Security officer, he checked the Tactical station quickly and tapped his comm badge. =^= Hsull to Holloway, Ma’am if you all will evacuate the umbilical I can use phasers to surgically separate the alien ship from the the station and us. On your command of course. =^= As far as Hsull was concerned they had been attacked and an armed response was the accurate answer. He hoped Forgrave wasn’t badly injured.

CWO4 Hsull - TO

It didn’t take long for Molly’s voice to come through. =/\= Holloway to Hsull. The anomaly is affecting both the station and the alien vessel. Disrupting that might be a bad idea at this point. I’ll keep your suggestion in mind until I hear from Commander Renveer’s attempt of contact. Standby for now. Holloway out. =/\=

A few minutes passed before Holloway’s voice came in again. =/\= Holloway to Renveer. Any news? =/\=

Holloway, CO

Priscilla was grateful the Captain didn’t allow the surgical separation. Attempting that thru the distortion field could have devastating consequences for all involved. And with a time loop in affect as well… The idea made her shiver a moment.

After glancing at the readiness of the probes, Priscilla turned around. “Sir… the probes are ready. We aren’t sure how the field will affect them. I would suggest a skim along the surface of the field to begin with. Then a probe thru the edge of it before making a full fly by of the interior near the science lab locations to see if we can record anything thru the field and or windows.” If they could get good readings the first two passes, she hoped they would be able to see what was happening inside the station on the third pass.

Renveer frowned. =/\= Renveer to Holloway. There’s been no response to my attempts to continue communication from the bridge. In fact, the aliens seem to have abandoned theirs, we no longer have visual contact with any of their crew. =/\=

“Chief Hsull, have you scanned the ship for weapons? Their behavior is erratic thus far, we should be prepared for anything.”

The executive officer turned to Lieutenant Simms, eager to proceed with something useful. “Understood, launch the probes when ready, but be sure to have them investigate the anomaly near the station, not the alien ship.” Renveer hesitated before adding, “And be gentle, Lieutenant.” He was sure she would be, but Renveer was feeling overly cautious. Understanding the anomaly was important, but he knew that multi-tasking in this way could backfire, if the probes ended up disturbing either the relations with the aliens or the stability of the anomaly. But he trusted the Chief Science Officer, so he settled for watching her progress with bated breath.

(Lt. Cmdr. Renveer, XO)

The scans of the alien ship showed what were potentially weapons systems, but none of them were powered up.

GMT

Hsull scanned his tactical display for a moment. “There appear to be weapons systems present but none show any signs of recent activity, nor are they currently powered up in any way.” He checked his status displays again. “Would it be feasible to transport another away team to the unaffected part of the station and approach the alien ship in that way ?”

Hsull TO

OOC: Just for clarity sake: The entire station is effected, and half to two-thirds of the alien ship save for some part of the aft section.

Priscilla nodded. “Of course. Station scans only.” She tapped in the commands for the first probe. She wanted it to skirt as close to the anomaly as possible without actually touching the field. All telemetry was scanned. Visual to see if they could see through it, as well as readings on strength, any possible fluctuation, frequencies, etc. “Probe one away,” she announced as she also made sure it never strayed close to the ship attached to the station.

Renveer nodded his acknowledgement to Hsull. “Good. Keep our weapons similarly powered down, we’ll approach this from a diplomatic standpoint as long as we can.” Though he had no idea how things were progressing down in the cargo bay, Renveer hoped that the lack of communication from the Captain meant some progress was being made. “Still, this is alien technology, Chief. See if you can get any more information on the ship’s systems and purpose. Is it a warship or a science vessel, for example?”

Renveer turned his attention to the viewscreen as he watched the probe depart. He resisted the urge to stand over Lieutenant Simms’ shoulder, instead standing tensely in the center of the bridge, waiting for any update from anyone.

(Lt. Cmdr. Renveer, XO)
OOC: Cross posted

On Simms’ screen a message detailing Gadi and Holloway’s conversation would appear with a request for her to determine if the idea was feesible or bust:
Bethany just shook her head as the weapons appeared out of his pockets. The brass knuckles were a nice touch, the pocket knife, well no Southern man worth his salt would be caught dead without one. She stared down the connecting tube, tapping a finger to her thigh, listening to the conversation around her and thinking. Bethany wasn’t really a full fledged intel officer, but her job entailed listening and remembering random pieces of information and putting them together. “Captain, I’m not an engineer or a science officer for that matter, so I could be completely off base. But I remember reading a report where emergency transporter armbands were modified to use as a very sensitive phase discriminator to create a subspace isolation field. They were then used to allow the crew members to move through a temporal distortion without being affected.” Additional bands could be made to attach to crew they needed to help fix the problem from the station - possibly. She wasn’t sure they could be used to bring someone OUT of the loop. “And if there is someone from the station on that ship, but caught in the loop…even being able to get over there and observe what is happening could be useful.”
OOC: reference: https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Timescape_(episode)

Molly was a fully fledged Intel officer, but she was as far from a scientist as one could be. “Send that idea through to Lieutenant Simms. If there’s someone that could make it work, it’s her. And right now, no idea is a bad idea.”
Lt Gadi, CNS

Hsull’s four fingered hands moved over the tactical console the tips of his claws making a slight clicking noise as he activated various readouts and data streams. He was wishing the data from the probes was all ready in the data banks. “Sir, as near as I can tell from what data we have, it’s not a war ship, perhaps a science or exploration vessel. Their armament seems more defensive than offensive. We should know more as soon as the probes send us some data.” Hsull checked the video feed from inside the umbilical. “Sir, it seems Mr. Forgrave has entered the alien vessel along with the counselor.” Hsull wished he had been there with Forgrave as he found he really liked the strange talking Security Chief, but his place was here on the bridge for the moment.

Hsull - TO
OOC: If I’m wrong as to the alien vessel, let me know.

OOC: You are pretty close to spot-on! Well done!

OOC: Fixing some splits

As the first probe moved out of the launch bay, it was noticably tracked by the alien craft, but no reaction was made by the ship. As it moved towards the station, a more clear view could be seen through the transparent dome that topped the facility.

Inside everything seemed frozen. People in mid-stride… a dropped mug hanging in the sir before crashing to the floor… a small drone flying from one lab to another… and most noticeable was a group of the aliens and Star Fleet officers and civilian scientists ducking for cover next to a table on which sat a small, unknown device which pulsated with a golden aura. The device looked like a small star, it shone so bright. Further information from the probe put it at the epicenter of the temporal field.

GMT

Hsull was carefully monitoring the audio and video feeds from the away team as well as trying to determine who, what and why the aliens and their vessel were and what their intentions were. He switched from that to a split image of what the probe was sending back. Speaking to the XO, “Cdr. it appears that there is some kind of device in the station that has frozen everyone and thing in time, it also seems that Mr. Forgrave can communicate with the aliens at least on some level, all I get are the same musical tones so far.” Hsull’s bronze furred fingers moved rapidly over his console, “There’s still no evidence of any hostile intent, other than Mr. Forgrave getting zapped by that drone.”

Hsull - TO

Renveer looked over Lieutenant Simms’ shoulder at the visual displayed by the probe of the inside of the station. He whirled to walk back to the center of the bridge, nodding acknowledgment to Chief Hsull as he did so.

Renveer took a breath, then tapped his comm badge. =/\= Renveer to Holloway. We have visual of the inside of the starbase. The phenomenon seems to originate from a small, pulsating, brightly lit device. There are aliens aboard the station, and based on how they’re frozen alongside the Starfleet personnel, they might have been discussing the object with Federation scientists when it started… emanating this field. If the aliens know anything more about the object, that information would provide another piece of the puzzle. =/\=

The executive officer looked back at Hsull. “That thing looks like it’s generating a lot of power. See if the sensors can determine if it has a stable energy source or not. If it’s going to explode at some point, I don’t want that to be a surprise.”

(Lt. Cmdr. Renveer, XO)

Hsull checked his readouts and current sensor data, hopefully they would know more when the probes finished their scans. “As near as I can tell, things are fairly stable, at least for now. My take on this is that the aliens found this device and not knowing what it was accidentally triggered it and came to the station for help. Not knowing that it would affect the station as well. It seems we need to shut the thing off somehow,.........the how being the problem, I realize I’m stating the obvious, but thinking aloud sometimes stimulates ideas from others.” Hsull looked around the bridge, hoping someone would have an idea about disarming the device.

Hsull - TO

Sensor readings were flooded with temporal ‘static’ coming from the field, but it was thankfully steady in it’s output. Previous logs from the station provided no clue as to the nature or solution to the field problem. In fact, the station’s logs mentioned nothing about the object or the aliens at all.
