Suddenly, Molly’s voice came through the comms. =/\= Holloway to Simms and Drillek. Shalir, one of the lead technician’s for the alien vessel will be helping us with moving the object you detected, it seems to be a power core of a satellite made from a very particular type of metal. I’m sure she’ll be able to brief you better than I can. She will be coming with me to the Bridge. Currently, you will be able to understand her thanks to the pulse we just felt, but she won’t be able to understand you unless you allow her to briefly touch your temples… =/\= There was a hesitant pause, as if Holloway wasn’t sure whether what she was saying made any sense to the Bridge crew. =/\= Are you both okay with that? =/\=

Holloway, CO

Hsull was checking tractor beam alignment and settings again when he heard the Captains announcement. Maybe, finally they could try to extract the now known to be, power supply. The fact that the Captain was bringing one of the aliens aboard caused him to glance down where his cane was resting against the tactical console, and to wonder if that was a wise decision. Subconsciously he began tensing and relaxing the muscles in his legs and the flooring beneath the console made a slight ripping noise as his claws dug into the surface.

Scant minutes later, the lift doors opened and the Captain and a familiar face, but unfamiliar figure, stepped onto the bridge. Shalir’s eyes widened in astonishment at the sheer scope and size of the Dresden’s command center, and avian-like eyes darted all over in wonder.

Drillek stepped forward and looked at the Captain and said “So we can understand them, but they can’t understand us… is that correct, Ma’am? At least not until they physically contact us? Thats… amazing.” he said as he looked at Shalir with curiosity.

Hsull watched the Captain and the alien as they exited the lift, his left hand was grasping the top of his cane seemingly in a casual manner. His understanding of the situatio0n was that the alien must touch them in order to have full communication, that wasn’t going to happen in his case, at least not right away. Suspicious by nature, he felt that the Captain might be a tad premature with the trust issue. He hoped he was wrong but always preferred to err on the side of caution, he curled back his upper lip and placed his tongue behind his front teeth while inhaling through his mouth, trying to, pick up anything from the pheromones the alien was giving off. This gave the appearance that he was snarling and displayed his rather impressive dentistry, but was a perfectly normal Caitian trait.

OOC: Should be interesting when Hsull and the new CIO meet.

As the Captain and their guest arrived, she nodded in greeting and stepped aside to let Drillek step closer. She knew the contact for understanding was a necessity due to the emergency, but she was concerned what other things that contact would reveal. She had things, sometimes drifting to her foremost mind, that she certainly didn’t want shared with the crew. Biting her lip, she then smiled and nodded once more in agreement at Drillek’s comment about the impressiveness of the concept. “Welcome,” she said by way of habit, realizing that the creature wouldn’t understand her.

A sideways glance and a soft smile at the TO let him know she understood the tension coming from that direction and tried to let him know she understood.

Lt. Harper entered the bridge and casually strolled to her station not acknowledging anyone as she went. The station devoted to intelligence was near tactical and communications. She glanced over at the CTO and nodded, not yet knowing him well. She glanced over his tactical panel. Another wave of a distant but fond memory passed over her. Harper had been the Chief of Security on the Montgomery before… NO! her mind screamed at her. She could not afford to be distracted by sentimentality. She turned to face her station and stand by should she be needed.

-Lt. Harper, CIO

Hsull heard the lift doors swish open and the moment the occupant stepped on to the bridge alarm bells and whistles began going off in his head. Though the officer was dressed in a Starfleet uniform,...... there was an aura about her that suggested menace and danger. Hsull’s immediate reaction was for his hackles to rise and his claws to come out, he managed to stifle the snarl that was building in the back of his throat, and noticing that no one else seemed bothered by this new officers presence he just gave a glaring stare as the officer casually walked to the Security station, giving him a brief nod as she stood there. He looked down and realized that he had actually grabbed his cane and his thumb was on the firing stud for the phaser hidden in the grip, he quickly placed the cane back under his console and now tried to keep track of the alien the Captain had brought with her and this strange new officer who seemed to pose a threat somehow. Things were getting very busy on the bridge right now.

Molly nodded as an answer to Drillek’s question, and then spoke to Shalir. “This is Dr. Drillek, he’s the lead Engineer behind the station.” She said motioning first to Drillek, and then to Simms. “And this is Lieutenant Simms, our Chief Science Officer. They are the ones leading the crew’s efforts to move the field from the station and your ship.”

Turning to the two officers, Holloway continued. “This is Shalir. She’s a member of the Lidrians, the alien species that vessel belongs to. As I mentioned before, I don’t now exactly the biology behind it, but in order for her to understand you, you’ll have to allow her to touch your temple for a brief moment. The process is absolutely painless. I can let her know if you are willing to go ahead with it. If not, I can find someone to act as an interpreter. It is entirely your choice.”

Holloway, CO

Drillek shook his head and said “I don’t see that as being necessary.” and stepped forward to Shalir and nodded. Like she had with Holloway, Shalir brushed his temples and then looked at Drillek. Drillek looked at her a moment and then said “Is that it? I expected… more.” and he chuckled. Shalir then looked at Simms.

Not wanting to overstep being so new Lt. Harper stayed out of the way. She would volunteer should the need arise, though she doubted the section would approve.

-Lt. Harper, CIO

Following along behind the initial group came Forgrave; breathing somewhat heavier than the others. He had lingered behind in the docking tube; making sure that the security officers left there had solid orders and procedures to follow. He had rushed in an effort to catch back up to the group, but hadn’t quite made it in time.

Joining the others on the bridge; he couldn’t help but give the new Intelligence Officer a lingering glance; he trusted StarFleet (at least, he mostly trusted them…), but Lt. Harper was a hard entity to accept. He’d put out as many feelers as he could; cashing what few favors he had in an effort to find out more about the officer, to no avail. He has personal issued with Xenos; he knew this and was trying to overcome his prejudices. But Harper.... he doubted he would ever be able to feel comfortable around the strange being.

With a gentle shake of his head, he dismissed his troubled thoughts, and sidled over to the new Tac Officer. With a face caught somewhere between a smile and a grimace, he nodded politely in greeting to Hsull. “How’re thing’s looking over here? I’ll admit, I was a bit concerned when that pulse went off; weren’t quite sure how y’all’d take it, but seems like we’re all still here, so I reckon it weren’t too tense.”

-Forgrave, CoS

Hsull sighed, “By y’all I assume you mean me. I’m still all for pulling the thing out of there and then blasting it with a quantum torpedo, but I’ll play by the rules unless danger becomes apparent. What’s your take on the aliens and did you notice the new officer by the security console ?” Hsull nodded in the direction of new officer. “There’s something very strange going on there, I mean besides the appearance. It was all I could do to keep from attacking when she first came off the lift.” Hsull ran his hands through his mane sweeping it back down his neck. The tie on his pony tail had come loose and he was looking a bit wild at the moment. “I trust Starfleet to a point, they do make a nifty bionic eyeball, after all.” Hsull tapped his temple beside the bionic eye, it suddenly occurred to him that with the eye and a few other parts here and there that he was now a damn cyborg. He looked at Forgrave, “Damnedest thing just popped into my head.”

Hsull - CTO

Shalir spoke up; mostly to Holloway, Drillek, and Simms, but also to the rest of the bridge crew. “The Captain mentioned you had a plan to deal with the temporal field. If you can explain, I may be able to help ensure that we have the greatest chance of success.”

Drillek spoke up. “We have determined that a small beam of anti-chronitons will be able to pentetrate the field to the source. One that is done, the field should be minimized enough, thus allowing us to use the tractor beam to move the device off station.” Shalir nodded and her eyes grew wide. “The fact that you can produce such a beam is truly a marvel. If I may… if you can focus such a beam and use it to envelop the core, I have the necessary equipment to contain it. My team can then transport it back to our network satellite and make the necessary repairs.” Shalir looked at Holloway and said “Would that be acceptable, Captain?”
