Wiles drew his phaser as he stumbled, eyes widened in shock from the impact and the unexpectedly harsh expression he had received. “Halt!” Wiles yelled as he aimed unsteadily at the woman’s back. “Go no further!”

Two fingers signaled to his assistant division officer, NEnsign Astin, to block the exit to engineering, leaving the woman standing between two Starfleet security officers, both with their phasers drawn.

(Ensign Osten, Security Division Three Officer)

A message beeped through =^= Sickbay to Engineering: Can you send up a small repair crew? We’ve lost power and a couple of consols have blown.=^=

Lt. (j.g.) Janvier, CMO

Ellie looked around “Gavin, Esther, get to sickbay on the double.” She said =^=Chief, there are two engineers headed your way.=^= She said and then spun around in her chair “If you fire those weapons in here, don’t hit the core or we have more trouble than we do right now.” She said as she left security to deal with the unidentified woman and began working on determining damage and getting systems back up and running.

Orin was at a console, before many others had a chance to react, trying to scan readouts and damage indicators. He opened his senses to the ship hoping it could tell him where the problems were.

  • Orin, CE

Ellie looked at Orin “Are they insane. What are they going to do?” She asked “Blow us out of space?” Ellie touched her comm badge =^=Bridge can you lock onto the intruder and beam them to the brig?=^=

All the while, the woman had remained perfectly still. She watched as the crew scrambled to make sense of what was going on around them. Suddenly, a smile crept on her face.

She raised her hands into the air slowly, her smile becoming more menacing. Then her body began to glow a bright light, temporarily blinding everyone around her. A moment later, the woman was gone, replaced by a large glowing ball of light and energy, pulsating and arcing with what resembled electricity.

From the center of this light ball, several smaller balls of light were projected outwards. Two balls of light hit NE Astin and Ensign Osten, sending shocks of rippling energy through their bodies. Astin fell to the deck, screaming in pain. Osten himself would feel pain shooting throughout his body. Another ball of energy and light hit Orin directly in the head, engulfing his entire head for a moment, before causing the man to collapse on the deck, unconscious.

A ball of light nearly missed Ellie, hitting the console next to her, sending sparks flying.

Wiles fell to a knee as he gritted his teeth against the pain, mouth open in an inaudible cry of agony as his hand involuntarily released its grip on his blaster. Hissing through his teeth, Ensign Osten looked to NE Astin for support, but saw that she was hit as well. Scrambling on all fours, Wiles crossed the short distance from himself to the felled chief engineer, attempting to drag the man to safety behind a nearby terminal.

Breathing heavily from exertion and wincing from the pain, Osten slammed his hand into his comm badge as he sunk to the ground beside Orin behind what cover he could find. =^= Osten to bridge, engineering is under attack! =^=

(Ensign Osten, Security Division Three Officer)

The comm call did not go through, as it appeared his comm badge was malfunctioning. If Osten would check the CE’s vital signs, it would appear the man was not breathing and did not have a pulse.

Ellie ducked at the sparks and grabbed a phaser from under the console and fired at the being that was attacking them. She had to neutralize them before they hit the warp core and blew them out of the sky. She had no idea if her message got to the bridge or not.

Wiles gulped as his comm badge sputtered, beginning to realize just how dire the situation was. He Flinched slightly at the sound of phaser fire, Kleinhoffer’s warning about hitting the warp core flashing across his mind.

Ensign Osten heaved against Lieutenant Orin’s dead weight to sit him up against the console in their make-shift cover, but it was only then that Wiles noticed the lack of movement in the betazoid’s chest. A pang of regret shot through Wiles’ body as he closed his eyes and allowed himself one slow breath to process the death of the chief engineer.

OOC: Just a side note… not all comms are going through

IC:

The large ball of light seemed undamaged from the phaser fire. It flew through the air towards Ellie, morphing back into the form of the humanoid woman.

“Your weapons will not hurt me,” The woman said. “I suggest you stand down before more of your people are killed.” The woman looked down towards CE Orin.

-GM SEMAJ

Wiles poked his head around the corner to look for his fellow security officer, suddenly very worried about NE Astin’s condition considering what had happened to Orin. He saw the humanoid figure rematerialize and approach Kleinhoffer and stood slowly to emerge into full view.

Raising his hands in a sign of surrender, Wiles took a couple cautious steps forward. He avoided approaching the phaser he had dropped earlier. “We understand. We are standing down.” Wiles glanced at Kleinhoffer, hoping she would agree that doing so would be the best idea at this point.

(Ensign Osten, Security Division Three Officer)

Ellie looked at the woman “The only way I will stand down is you heal my Chief Engineer.” She said her eyes narrowing “Since you seem to be all powerful. That shouldn’t be too hard.” She said leaving her phaser on her lap “Fix him.” She said again “Then I stand down.” She said waving off the security staff “Get out of here.” She ordered them.

Kleinhoffer (eng)

Wiles shot a look of confusion and anger at Kleinhoffer. His Starfleet security training was screaming for him to insist that cooperation would be most likely to limit additional bloodshed, especially considering the clearly stated threat from their adversary and the power she had already demonstrated. They were obviously in no position to bargain.

Holding his tongue, Ensign Osten slowly retreated and took deliberate and cautious steps toward NE Astin, kneeling when he reached her to make sure she was alright. He was not going to abandon Kleinhoffer or ignore his charge to protect engineering, but he would allow the engineer to try whatever bluff she was attempting, if only because she outranked him.

(Ensign Osten, Security Division Three Officer)

Ellie watched Osten retreat and turned her attention back to the woman “What’s your decision?” She asked “It seems like a reasonable request. You fix my chief, I stand down and you get to do what you had planned.”

<bump>

<bump>

The woman smiled. “I have a better idea.” She shifted back into the ball of light and flew away through the bulkhead and disappeared.

A few moments later, power seemed to be restoring itself and the consoles stopped blinking.

-GM SEMAJ

With the disappearance of the adversarial light-woman, Osten sprinted across engineering and slid on his knees to Orin’s side. Vital, imperative seconds had passed, but Osten couldn’t do nothing. He leaned over the fallen Lieutenant, performing CPR with the precision and determination of a man who had been trained for this and refused to fail. He continued repeating the rounds of breathing and pumping the chest without indication of stopping even if it had no effect.

NEnsign Astin had recovered and moved to join Osten at Orin’s side, poised to take a turn with the compressions should Osten need a break. Osten never paused to allow her to switch in. Astin saw the consoles around her restoring power and slapped her comm badge. =^= NEnsign Astin to Sickbay! We need a doctor in engineering, medical emergency! =^=

(Ensign Osten and NEnsign Astin, Security)

Ellie looked on in disbelief =^=Main Engineering to the Bridge, the being in main engineering has left. The Chief Engineer is disabled.=^=
