Sitting down in the center chair, Manning’s British accent boomed across the Bridge.

“Red alert.”

Instantly red warning lights flooded the Bridge as well as the rest of the ship. Amelia let the klaxons sound once before rapid firing her orders.

“Helm, lay in a pursuit course and punch it. Do not lose that ship! Tactical, load photon torpedos, full spread. I want them locked on that ship and ready to fire if we need to. Security, I want full scans of the vessel. Everything. Every energy signature currently on board, every deck, every station mapped out. I want to know the location of every single toilet. Look for Colonel Harris’s commbadge and biosigns. I want to know if he is on board. Science, what is happening outside? Any more data on that vortex? Engineering, systems report.”

Cmdr. Manning, XO

=^=Main Engineering to the Bridge, the being in main engineering has left. The Chief Engineer is disabled.=^=

Kleinhoffer (Eng)

Ensign Forgrave had sat quietly at the security console throughout the chaos of the sudden “visitors” on the bridge, the power fluctuations, and confusing comms and reports trickling in; doing his best to collate everything and make sense of the situation.

With a welcome and clear order given by the XO, Forgrave immediately started working, entering several commands and query’s into the computer as fast as he could. His first search was for all commbadges; overlaid with all bio-signs - looking for discrepancies. If the Captain’s combadge or any biosigns resembling his were aboard, they should flag immediately with the location. Secondly, he started searching for all electronic signatures; remembering the light-show that the mysterious visitor entered and departed with, he opened up the filters to look for unusual light frequencies as well. He continued working, creating a number of charts and maps in an effort to locate anything unusual on the ship. Or anything missing from the ship…

“Commander, I’m running internal scans now, and starting to compile results. I’ll have something for you shortly.” Despite Issac’s calm voice, his mind was racing now that he was waiting on the results. What the hell is going on?! Didn’t look like teleportation, and our shields are up anyways… Is the Captain supposed to be a hostage or something? He re-focused on the console, trying to refine the data that was coming in; and trying to quiet his restless thoughts.

Ensign Issac Forgrave, Security

The alien vessel was not visible on any of the sensors, and the image of the ship on the main viewer got smaller and smaller, until it vanished from sight. There was no signal from Harris’ comm badge. Internal sensors detected high levels of psionic energy where the alien beings had appeared, but there was little information aside from that to explain what had transpired.

OOC: Ah, I think I might have inadvertently caused a bit of confusion with the way I wrote my post after Harris was taken… I meant to scan the alien ship, not the Dresden, but since I didn’t even notice it at the time, I am just going to run with it. :P Also, is the Dresden not pursuing the alien vessel (since that was one of Manning’s original orders…). I’m sorry if I missed something, which might also very much be the case… – Joana

=^=Main Engineering Anyone care to tell me what is going on?=^= She asked

Kleinhoffer

The Bridge’s doors swooshed open immediately after the comm from Engineering came through and Holloway walked in with a decisive gait. Her eyes instinctively drawn to the center chair. But her gaze was met by Manning’s instead of Cal’s. And she didn’t like the emotions behind them. Her brow furrowed and her stomach churned.

First Harris, then Losc, now Holloway. The moment Harris had been taken, Manning had known this moment would come. But as her eyes caught the distinct black uniform of the Intel officer walking into the Bridge, she knew it had come way sooner than she had expected.

As both women’s gaze met, Amelia was sure that Holloway had known it. After all, reading people was part of the Intel officer’s job. Then the dreaded question came.

“Commander, where’s Colonel Harris?”

Capt. Holloway, CIO

Amelia motioned towards the viewscreen with her chin. The alien vessel still clearly visible on the display. As Holloway turned to the screen she could see the realization hitting her. Manning felt sorry for the woman as she stood up from the center chair and walked over to her.

Manning’s motion was all it took. As Molly’s eyes took in the vessel, her heart sunk into her stomach. They hadn’t even had the time to talk about what had happened during the last mission, and now, the same thing could happen to him. Who were these people? Why had they taken him?

Her mind filled with a swirl of questions as she tried to shake the thought’s away.

“We will get him back, Captain.” Amelia said softly as she placed a gentle hand on Molly’s arm.

Cmdr. Manning, XO

Holloway had been so absorbed in her thoughts that she hadn’t even noticed the Executive Officer walking towards her. The sudden touch startling her, and her eyes flashed with rage as she turned to face Manning. Whatever emotion had been behind her eyes a moment ago, it was gone, and her face was hard and somber. Her gaze screamed You better.

“I was approached by a being, seemingly made of energy. He was trying to find someone called Jackson Grey. There’s no crew member with that name. I’ll be in the back digging up what I can on that name.” Her tone was dry.

Without another word, Holloway crossed the Bridge to an empty science console in the back. Her hands moving with the speed of her thoughts, inputting search commands. Logging in her Intelligence credentials, she searched for any records that contained the name ‘Jackson Grey’, hoping to be given some clarity on what lied ahead.

Capt. Holloway, CIO

The computer returned one lone result, a link to the record of a Starfleet Officer. One Lieutenant David Michaels, and he was currently assigned as the Chief Science Officer of the USS Genesis. The name Jackson Grey had triggered this particular file, but when Holloway attempted to dig further, she was met with a security block that required an access code higher than that of which she possessed.

As the computer didn’t allow her further access, Molly’s mind crept up with fear. Whatever they were dealing with, was well above her pay grade. And that was never a good omen.

Hitting what seemed to be a dead end, Holloway tried to pull everything she could find on both Lieutenant David Michaels, including both biographical history and scientific research past and current, as well as everything she could find on the USS Genesis and her past missions. Maybe any of the ships logs would mention something similar to what they had experienced, and if they did, what had happened then.

Capt. Holloway, CIO

The file for Lieutenant David Michaels was an interesting read, as it appeared this officer had been reprimanded several times by different commanding officers. However, his personnel file was brief in nature and then ended with a notation that his file was deemed for a higher security clearance than what Molly possessed.

There were several mentions of David Michaels in the ships logs, but nothing in the search index would immediately stand out or prompt further review.

Molly sighed in frustration. Who was Jackson Grey and did it seem to be a dead end? And where was Cal? How did this all relate? If she didn’t have enough clearance to know who this guy was, how were they supposed to find him? And how were they supposed to find Cal?

Shaking her head, Holloway tried to keep her mind on task. Her eyes rereading through the search index trying to find out something that she might have missed.

As Holloway walked away, it was as if Amelia could feel all the eyes in the Bridge burning through her. Walking back to the center chair, Manning tapped her commbadge.

=/\= Manning to Main Engineering, we are in pursuit of a vessel that we believe sent the… beings… on board. Report on the status of Lieutenant Losc, and please, who am I talking to? =/\=

=^= Ensign Osten to Bridge. Thank you for the update. This is Ensign Osten, security division three officer, Commander Manning. Main engineering is secure, but Lieutenant Losc was struck by an energy blast released by an entity that appeared in engineering. He’s been beamed to sickbay for emergency medical intervention, but he was unresponsive to CPR. =^=

Cmdr. Manning, XO

Hannibal returned to the bridge. He saw Ensign Forgrave at tactical and motioned him to stay where he was.

“Commander, Damage control is underway. Where is the Colonel?” He said, looking around realizing that he wasn’t there.

-COS

Turning to face the Dresden’s Chief of Security, Manning once again was faced with answering the dreaded question.

Amelia shook her head. “He disappeared with the beings that came on board. Not sure how, why, or where. They seem to have taken him…” Manning let her sentence trail off, not wanting to say more than what had already been said.

The sensors beeped, as a scan of the area revealed the vortex had not entirely closed, and there appeared to be a weak transmission coming from inside it.

-GM SEMAJ

The security console gave a quiet ‘ping’ as it finished compiling the requests entered by the Ensign. Quickly skimming them, Issac’s fears were confirmed. Captain Harris no longer appeared to be on the Dresden. And what was that about psionic energies? I guess that may explain the unusual.... beings.

“Commander? Ah, the Computer did not return any results for Captain Harris’s Combadge or bio-signs aboard the Dresden. However, it did record high levels of psionic energy in a couple locations: the Bridge, Engineering, Counselor’s office, and briefly on uh, Deck 5, near the officer’s quarters. It’s still refining the results, but those are the… hotspots. I’ve forwarded the results to your console Ma’am.”

Manning nodded at Forgrave before taking a look at the data herself. Psionic energy… The name certainly rang a bell. Turning back to Forgrave she asked. “Keep working on it. Do we have any idea of where it may have originated from?”

Turning to the Security Chief, he quietly asked “Sir, do you think the Tactical console may have any luck scanning or tracking the other ship? Or might have recorded anything from it while it was in our vicinity? The Security console picked up these distinctive psionic energies…”

Ensign Issac Forgrave, Security

“I do, let me take a look, stay on top of the security situation.” Hannibal stated, moving to the aft tactical console. He started pulling files on Psionic energies, trying to compare these to any past events.

“Yes Sir.” Issac nodded, turning back to his console.

At the helm, NE Thunderhawk was quietly wishing he had followed his brother’s path into the SFMC, when the computer picked up a transmission from the vortex in front of them.

“Ma’am, we’re picking up a weak transmission. It seems to be coming from the vortex.”

“Patch it through, Ensign.” Came Amelia’s order.

Proud of himself for doing something important, Thunderhawk quickly tapped his console, patching the commlink through.

Cmdr. Manning & NE Thunderhawk

(Ensign Osten, Security Division Three Officer)

The transmission was very staticky but a few words jumped out… “Time agent… future… Grey… assistance… enemy.”

-GM SEMAJ

Time agent? Amelia’s brow furrowed. From the… future? It was a clear request for help, and the name… wasn’t that the same name that Holloway had mentioned a few moments before?

As the transmission came through, and the name Grey popped up, Molly turned around to face Manning. “One of the beings mentioned finding Jackson Grey.” Her voice carried through the Bridge slightly louder and a little more excitedly than she had intended, warranting her a few glances from some of the personnel manning the consoles around her. She felt the heat on her cheeks from embarrassment. Manning already knew the name because Holloway had already told her about it. Molly turned back to the terminal in front of her. Way to look professional, Holloway.

Manning glanced at the Dresden’s Intelligence Chief. Surprise clear in her face. “Anything you can tell me on Grey or on time agents, Captain?”

Time agent. The name, however, lingered in Molly’s mind. Something she had heard about a long time ago during her training at The Farm. It had been mentioned as more of a myth than anything else, but… could it be that it was true? That would certainly explain why her security clearance was not enough to see those files…

Tapping the console a few times, Molly searched the database for the term ‘time agent’, sure that once again, her clearance would not enable her to see any relevant information. But she didn’t have anything better to do, and who knew… maybe she would find something interesting.

Capt. Holloway, CIO

“Great” mumbled Hannibal, “let’s add time to these events too.”

-COS

A small mesage box appears on the security console ‘What the hell is going on? S’ sent from the transporter console in main Enginering.

Clinton “Stores” Reed, Supercargo

Issac considered the current situation; coming up at a loss to adequately describe it. He started typing into the console. =^=The beings have left the ship, as far as can be determined. Captain Harris appears to have been abducted by them; we are perusing them. We’ve gotten reports from engineering regarding Orin Losc; has the situation changed on your end?=^=

Ensign Issac Forgrave, Security

For a moment, Amelia’s mind went back to the events just before Harris had been taken. He had mentioned flying into the vortex, which to Amelia at the time, hadn’t make sense. She had had the feeling that Harris had been given some piece of information that she hadn’t, and that’s why she remembered it clearly. She remembered the woman being as confused as she was. Into the vortex?! Why would you want to… Oh, I see. There is someone else trying to shape these events. Very well. Those had been the woman’s words right before she had placed her hand on Harris’s shoulder and supposedly taken him with her. For all she knew, the woman had vaporized the Dresden’s Commanding officer, but Manning chose to believe that he had been taken instead. Was the someone the woman had mentioned this Jackson Grey person? Had she taken Harris to prevent them from going into the vortex? Leaving the Dresden with no Captain and high levels of psionic energy behind?

Psionic energy. The term kept lingering in Manning’s mind, as something she had heard a long time ago. In telepathic species the paracortex is far larger and more active. It is responsible for the creation of the psionic field that is required for telepathic senses to operate. Think of a psionic field as a less tangible version of nerve endings. Without nerve endings there would be nothing to transmit your sense of touch to your brain. Without a psionic field you can be surrounded by telepathic inputs but you have no way of registering and processing that information. The words made their way back into her mind, uttered in a familiar voice. A voice she hadn’t heard in five or six years. Avery Grant had been the Chief Medical Officer of the USS Vanguard when she had been stationed there, and a dear friend of hers. Avery had been the one discovering the existence of a paracortex within Amelia’s brain, and helping her understanding what it could possibly mean. She had left the ship shortly after, and her research into her possible telepathic ancestry came to a halt. Manning wondered for a moment how this information could help them? If the beings had left a trail of psionic energy behind, did this mean that they were telepathic beings? Or did it mean this was all in their heads? Or both?

Right now, there was no time to think about it. Clearing her throat, Manning addressed NE Thunderhawk. “Helm, lay in a course. Take us through the vortex.” With the little information they had available and a clear request for help, maybe if they assisted this Grey person, they would be able to help them find Harris.

“Aye, Ma’am.” Came Thunderhawk’s words. And with a tap of his console, he initiated the Dresden’s journey through the vortex.

Cmdr. Manning, XO & NE Thunderhawk, Helm

Ellie made her way onto the Bridge “Commander…what is going on?” She asked “Engineering is secured for the moment.” She added as she went to the engineering station.
