Harris finished punching the final orders into his console and immediately opened a CommCall.

=A= Harris to Lieutenant Kleinhoffer… could you come to my office for a moment?=A=

As he waited for her response, the Dresden’s Commanding Officer punched in the codes to replicate a solid gold pip and accompanying red velvet box. Sitting the box on his desk in plain sight, Harris grabbed the hard copy of the Promotion Order and signed it in blue ink before sealing it in a fancy Federation Blue envelope and placing it beside the velvet box.

=^=On my way sir.=^= Ellie said. A few minutes later, Ellie rang the chime on Harris’ office door and waited for him to answer. She wondered what had happened.

Harris glanced up when he heard the chime. “Come in”

The Marine’s office was it’s standard impeccable self, along with its primary inhabitant. The minute Ellie entered, she would notice the the orders folder… a standard for major changes to an officer’s career path (awards, transfers, promotions, demotions, and the like). However, the velvet box was a distinctly old-Earth military tradition that accompanied major awards and promotions. From the sight of that box alone, Ellie would know that while she was not going anywhere… she clearly got someone’s attention somewhere.

Harris, CO

Ellie eyed the box and then Harris “How can I help you Captain?” She asked leaning back in her chair and waiting to see what was going on. She knew she wasn’t going anywhere but this was not what she had expected.

“Ellie… how long have you been with us on the Dresden?” The Marine asked with a warm smile.

Harris, CO

Ellie had to actually think about it “More than five years.” She had to think about it a bit more, her daughter was not 7 “My daughter is 7, so it’s probably closer to 10 years.” She said “Why?” (OOC: Harris probably doesn’t know about her daughter)
