NE Doc yawned as the boring nature of her day continued. So used to the quiet that she didn’t notice immediately the consul flare to life with the information sent from the science labs. She jumped and began to read the details and set up the required environment in the nearby unit waiting for whoever would be arriving.

NE Doc

Anisha was the first to arrive with Meg (I assume). She looked around the strange room she had never seen before, looking somewhat lost.

Mel stepped in with Anisha and exhaled as she bounced slightly from her heels to her toes. “You know, when the captain discussed the idea of me getting back into my old career as a scientist, this wasn’t exactly how I envisioned it going,” she said aloud, so to not excluded the non-telepath in the room. “i suspect this might be better,” she said with a tiny grin.

~Melaia Reez

“Aren’t you a Starfleet Captain?” Anisha said without thinking and instantly cringed as Arun admonished her mentally. “Sorry, I shouldn’t know that. It’s my brother who read it in the files, I’m sorry.” she repeated herself.

“I was,” Mel said with a chuckle. “In another life. But being a captain of a starship isn’t exactly possible under the circumstances , so the subject of my joining the science department as a civilian scientist was broached. Jonathan is very supportive, so… we’re going to try and make that work. Somehow.” There were only 40 people on this ship, so child care was limited. But even a couple days a week in the labs would be wonderful.

A moment later, the newly prepped environment held a shimmer of light as something was beamed in. A greyish round mass about 30 cms in diameter was beamed in along with smaller egg looking things beside it. The creature had a thick looking outer skin on top and no discernible appendages or sensory organs.

Anisha’s attention was diverted by the appearance of the aliens. “That’s the mother and her eggs.” she said needlessly and instantly sent out welcoming and warm thoughts and feelings to the being.

Taking a step closer, Melaia smiled and looked at Anisha. “The captain suggested we not make contact until they were all moved here. Maybe we should wait for her mate?”

~Mischief Maker

“I’m not doing anything else than Arun and T’Pris did with her moments ago in sickbay.” she answered.

The doors whooshed open then and T’Pris made her way quickly into the ICU, her eyes already on the container that held the mother and offspring. Her empathic link had survived the beaming and she made her way over to the container and checked the settings on the system to be sure that the conditions had correctly been set up so that the creatures continued to receive the hydrogen and environment that they required. She checked on their condition to see if there had been any deleterious effects from the beam.
“Ms. Reez.” She said in greeting though it was distracted, both from her continuing to read the panels and half her attention being on her empathic contact. Her gaze flicked to Anisha once as she realized she had no idea who the woman was.

T’Pris Psychobiologist

Anisha smiled at T’Pris and it was the very same smile she had received moments ago from her twin brother, even the dimple forming on those cheeks was the same.

“I’m Anisha, Arun’s twin sister. We have a constant mind link, so I know every word you’ve just exchanged with him in sickbay. I know its a bit disconcerting… but we can’t really change that I’m afraid.” she said. Her voice had a deep timbre as well, but it was a lot softer than Arun’s. She had the same tone of blond hair, only fell past her shoulders in soft waves. All in all their look favoured the male genes. Arun would be considered dashing and handsome by many, while on Anisha it looked fine, but not really beautiful.

  • Anisha Onuru

“I do not find it disconcerting at all. Efficient actually.”T’Pris said as she continued to scan the console, making adjustments where needed. “Did I hear correctly that there is a male creature as well? Will it be coming here?”

T’Pris Psychobiologist

Anisha smiled at the comment, warming up to T’Pris. “Yes that’s correct, it will be here soon.” she kept smiling at T’Pris a bit longer and added.
“Say, you are telepathic as well? As in, without touch?” she asked carefully.

  • Anisha

“Yes. Though my people do have some with high psi quotients, I was typical telepathically wise until an unusual contact with a strongly telepathic species that unintentionally altered my paracortex. Increasing my telepathic ability and range. It has proven…a mixed gift. Tressex has postulated a way to reverse the effect but I am not certain I wish too. ” T’Pris stopped suddenly and turned to stare at Anisha. She normally wasn’t so forthright and open and wondered what about the other woman had suddenly made her so. She sensed no mental persuasion. She noted the other woman’s warm smile and wondered if it was the sense of friendliness she was emitting that had drawn it from her. Adrian Sorel would have a theory for it no doubt, she mused. She turned back to the console as there was no way she could take back what she had shared now.

T’Pris Psychobiologist

She then felt something that was by all intense and purpose a mental knock on her mind’s door so to say, clearly coming from Anisha in a very soft and tender way, ready to withdraw at a blink.
“That sounds like an intriguing story to tell, thank you for sharing that with …us. I’d love to have somebody else on the ship to whom I could talk telepathically. It’s so much faster and easier than words.” Anisha said, somewhat shyly.
