Secondary sickbay

Posted Nov. 25, 2018, 1:24 p.m. by Civilian Cai Taylor (Captain’s Brother) (Calé Reilly)

Retired cardiologist. The body scanner arrived and was positioned over Cai’s chest. An EKG setup was being assembled nearby. Drake walked over and had some difficulty getting through. “Excuse me. If the attending could get through to the patient that would be greatly appreciated.” For some reason, he felt the need to explain his thinking to the Captain, despite his frustrations with her. “Captain.” He said while he started to examine the scan “Before I came here, as soon as I had access to the files, I looked up every surgically relevant condition anyone has on this ship. I knew about Cai’s dextrocardia. But the methodology is simple. Handle the easy emergency: the arm, then play the long game. He may have heart trouble that contributed to the fall. But, we can’t accurately examine his heart if his heart rate and BP are severely elevated from extreme pain. Or if he’s on painkillers.” He looked up and over at the Captain. “You never asked my name. Doctor Drake Marshall. I’m one of Starfleet’s top surgeons.” He turned back to the scanner. “And I’ve seen much worse than this.” He focused in on the scan, poring over every detail.

-Dr Drake Marshall

Willow watched quietly. “I am aware of whp you are Doctor Marshall, I picked the team assigned to the medical staff on this ship.” She said matter of factly.

Cai for his part seemed slightly more aware now. He watched Drake work and pulled a face. “For god sake…im fine.”

“That’s what I told your sister. But she insists on a full cardiac and pulmonary workup. So we’re both stuck here. Unless you have some trick where you slide your heart a little to the left into normal position.” The EKG setup was completed and the scanner replaced by electrodes. “I’m not going to bother explaining what this is. I imagine you already know. Once the EKG is done, you get all the fun of a cardiac stress test and then a full pulmonary workup.”

-Dr Drake Marshall

Seeing the doctor’s irritation Adrian Sorel immediately backed up out of the way. He wondered for the second time if maybe he should just leave as he watched the medical team work on his friend. He didn’t want to leave his friend though, he had been so upset about the thought of surgery that he wanted to be there for him when he did finally wake up. Looking around he noted a chair sitting against the wall and quietly made his way over to it.

Adrian Sorel

Willow glanced at Adrian and with a small frown approached, leaving Drake to deal with Cai.
“Sorry about that. You must be Adrian, correct?”

Willow Taylor
CO

Cai scowled darkly at Willow’s back and rolled his head to look ar Drake. “Can you just say you did and not.”
