Suddenly, and without warning the PaDD containing the Sadee’s transcripts which she had given the teacher began emitting a very high pitched squelch. It grew louder and more intense. Sadee, turned up her music and nodded at Sorel to do the same. Finally, when the PaDD reached a peak the sound would be unbearable to anyone, deafening to anyone with sensitive ears, it began emitting sparks and smoking angrily, it grew hot and spewed flames.

-Sadee

Adrian Sorel quickly turned up the music on his own player and as it still playing what Sadee had given him it dampened the effects of the imploding padd. His eyes widened as he watched to see their new teacher’s reaction to this prank. He was a bit aghast as he had never seen this sort of behavior even on Earth. Mind you he had only attended the human school for Starfleet children on the grounds of the Academy. And it did not happen at all on Vulcan.

Cai frowned as the lads started going off and looking back at Adrian considered him then glanced at the girl. The corner of his mouth quirked into a crooked sort of half smile.

Adrian Sorel

“What is this?” The teacher did not seem fased, but it was hard to tell if this was because of her emotional stupidity or the fact she had been pranked before, either were plausible. Setting the PaDD down, she flipped it over, trying to get into the PaDD before it imploded, if Sadee had gone as far as to actually allow for it to. Hastily, she began deconstructing it, hoping to get in before there was a mess in the classroom. Alas, her engineering skills were nothing compared to her history. And that, for this moment, was not a good thing.

OOC: Leaving this relatively vague, so you can have Sadee/yourself decide what happens. :)

The flame were an issue, the ship was sensitive by nature of being a medical ship. The fire relevant systems would kick in any moment. The alarm went off warning them it was imminent and he considered. If he brought Willow down on them then he would get the blame and though it didn’t actually bother him he couldn’t be bothered with the effort it would take to argue with her.

He got to his feet, hands stuffed deep in his hoodie pocket and approaching the desk and more or less shoving his way in assessed the padd and quickly with a few deft movements stopped the programme. It was difficult and very very well done. Someone with considerable skill in engineering and with a rebellious streak. The alarm stopped and is, his fingers blackened slightly, handed the twisted remains of the PaDD to Em’ujo and walked away back to his chair.

He gave the girl a look, his pale eyes so light blue they could almost appear silver glinted as though amused but he didn’t speak simply sat, pulled his mini PaDD out and a few others from his bag and went back to the report that he had been writing the night before for a first year cadet. Alien physiology specifically the heart systems of the Andorran and it’s difference compared to other humanoid anatomy. it wasn’t that he disliked medicine in fact he did like it but he couldn’t tell willow that of course. The report was nearly done, the guy wanted a ‘high grade’ but had only paid enough for a C and wouldn’t cough up any more until he saw the goods by which time he wouldn’t need to pay.

Sadee watched the boy averted her program with a few simple key strokes. Clearly he was much more intelligent than he looked. Sadee was no programmer but she did know her way around electronics and could rig just about anything. The fact that he shut it down so quickly both annoyed and amazed her. She realized that the heat would be coming down on her soon.

“Thank goodness you took care of that,” she said to Cai though not daring to look at him directly, “a student could have been seriously hurt. If I had been a few minutes later to class,” she remarked as innocently as possible, “I could have been burned. It must be a design flaw. You should probably alert the manufacturer, Mrs. er Klingon Lady.”

Adrian Sorel had just quietly watching all this and now with a few flicks of his fingers shut his music off as he turned to look at the teacher to see her reaction. He suddenly wondered if this was a human youth ritual of some sort. Was she testing the teacher?

Adrian Sorel

Whatever she was doing, Em’ujo was about to tolerate it. Nodding to the boy, Cai she had learned his name to be, she turned to face the girl who had originally given her the PaDD. Anger was boiling beneath the surface of the Klingon woman, a rage of sheer annoyance that took all of her brute strength not to unleash upon the young teenaged girl, a response she figured Sadee was expecting. Although, the anger wasn’t completely dissipated from her features, it simmered in her eyes, casting a dark shadow over her amber gaze.

“Miss Brooks,” When she spoke, her voice did not match the looking darkness that rested behind her gaze. Instead, it seemed poised, a forced self-assurement to make it seem as though she were not truly ready to teach the girl a lesson, as she would have back on Qo’noS. Her mind screamed at her, forcing her to remember that human children could not withstand the same practices as Klingon children; Echego did not fancy losing her job on the first day. “I do not know what they teach you, where you’re from. However, on Qo’noS, and many other planets of various poeples, children are taught to respect their peers, regardless of their opinion of them.”

“Your behaviour today,” Gah! How she wished she didn’t have to be so– so… Civilised! “Was abhorrent and dishonourable to your family. I would have expected better from someone of your age. But clearly, you prefer the mannerisms of a child. Would you like to be treated as one, too?” Her voice was a low rumble, inches away from a growl. “I expect to see you after class.”

“And to the rest of you,” She turned to them. “I understand that you probably won’t like me, and there is a good chance I won’t like you either. But let me get one thing straight: I don’t give a hoot if you’re Vulcan, human or an undiscovered species from a planet fifty thousand light years away. You will respect those around you. I don’t care what you’ve been taught before, I don’t care what you’ve been told. The moment you step foot in this classroom, disrespect, discrimination and any form of demeaning, pathetic behavior will not be tolerated, and it will result in punishment. That goes for me, each of your classmates and anyone who steps foot through that door.” She glanced between them all. “Do I make myself clear?”

The Padd gave one final pop and sizzle, sending up a small puff of smoke. Sadee could no longer suppress the giggle that issued from her mouth. She quickly stifled it with her hand. “Yes, Ma’am,” she acknowledged as respectfully as possible under the circumstances.

-Sadee

“Yes, Ma’am.” Adrian Sorel said with calm equanimity then waited to see if the teacher would have anymore instructions for them.

Calmly the boy watched the woman and then began gathering his things together. “Respect is earned. Not learned.” He responded just like that he stood up and left.

Cai

Echego didn’t respond to him, choosing to address the other students. In her mind, it wasn’t worth the battle. “Thank you,” She sighed, glancing over the mainframe. “I’d like to know more about your previous educational platforms, both of you. Are you accustomed to working individually, or in a group?” Despite being cold to the touch, Echego was most concerned about getting the students a proper education, and that meant figuring out how they worked best.
