Riding the turbo lift Amari took a breath. She was making her way onto the bridge, in command for the first time. Though she couldn’t say she was pleased with the Captain’s decision to go down to the surface of Carraya IV, she understood and respected it.

The doors wooshed open and Commander Brooks strode onto the bridge. She looked around to see who was on duty and made her way to the center chair. “I have the bridge.” She called out as she took the seat. She took a moment to take it all in, her first time in the big chair. She wanted to squeal with delight but didn’t think it would be professional. “Status of the away team?”

-Lt. Cmdr. Amari Brooks, XO

The very junior officer left in charge by Brad when he stole away to check on the mission module leapt up from the center seat as if it had burned her.

“Commander!” she squeaked . “Um, they’re just fine, still - aah - meeting with the, er, clinic staff, and nothingdefinitelyhappenedupheresinceDoctorWalkerlefttenminutesago,” she said, saying the last part in a rush before taking a gasping breath and looking as if she’d rather be anywhere else, plus worried she soon would be.

“Thank you, Ensign, for that concise report,” Amari smiled. She remembered being that nervous ensign. She folded one slender leg over the other and laced her fingers over her knees. “Why don’t you take the ops station. Coordinate with the away team regarding the transfer of the supplies. I would like to make this as smooth a process as possible.” Amari flipped open her command panel and took a look.

“Yes, Commander, right away!” NE Patsy Forbrad said, making her way over to the ops station and trying desperately to look calm and collected on the way over.

Once she got there, she started reviewing who all the Captain had taken with her, trying to figure out which officer would be the best to coordinate supply transfer with. Should it be the engineers, who would be doing the installation of everything? Or Dr. Marshall? Or Commander O’Keefe? Or the Captain herself? No, surely not, she was probably busy doing Captain-y things with the people in charge…
