After having seen his quarters and changed into his new uniform, a teal medical tunic and matching lab coat, with black trousers and boots, Dr Jarvis had been escorted by NE Williams down to the ships secondary sickbay. En route he had not failed to notice his new attire did not quite match that of the other crew. Where theirs had a black body with colour over the shoulders, his was the reverse. Perhaps a way of telling new recruits apart from the established members he had pondered. However, it did not bother him more than having to wear the militaristic thing in the first place, hence why he had not voiced the question to Williams.

Stepping through the doors of the secondary sickbay he glanced around with mild interest. Having never served aboard a star-fleet ship nor been in need of medical attention while aboard one, he did not quite know what to expect. And the small reception room he had walked into would do little to change that. At least it was cleaner than the Firangi ship he had once been forced to perform surgery aboard. Striding towards the desk he caught the eye of the NE behind it and gave them a firm look.

“Dr Jarvis checking in for his boarding physical,” he said in a nasily, no-nonsense tone. “Commander Walker sent me.” He gave the NE a smile which only served to unnerve the young man somewhat.

“Right you are, Dr Jarvis. Just take a seat and I’ll have one of the medical staff see you as soon as possible.”

“Thank you,” Jasper replied before turning and heading for a seat. At least the boy had been efficient and not wasted time with twenty questions that would have ended in the same result.

Sitting down, Dr Jarivs waited for one of the medical staff to call for him.

Dr J. Jarvis, M.D.

Drake was prodded from behind by a young NE. “Doctor Marshall? There’s a crewman waiting for intake eval.” His initial response was a deep sigh. “I know, in a sickbay full of doctors and nurses, you did not just approach the only surgeon on staff for another boarding evaluation. “Um. Sir, this is a new doctor. He might start doing these instead of you, once you approve him for duty.” Drake raised an eyebrow. “Name?” The NE coughed a little. “Jasper Jarvis.” Drake spun on his heels and walked to the main floor.

“Any doctors with grand plans for genetic experiments, please report for your boarding evaluation.” The medical community talked, Jasper Jarvis was famous. Brilliant and insane.

Dr Jarvis looked up at the man who had addressed the room. Given that no one else was waiting to be seen he could only assume that the greeting had been directed at him. And he’d thought the Captain’s welcome had been… interesting. Either the Tarisan’s were not as tight-lipped about such judicial matters as he had been led to believe, or gossip spread around a star-ship faster than the tarellian plague. He allowed a few moments of silence to hang awkwardly in the air before answering.

“Are you addressing me, doctor?” Jasper said in a nasily tone. His beady eyes looked the younger man up an down as though he were scanning him. Human, late twenties and a lieutenant if he read the pips on his uniform correctly. At almost half his own age the man in front of had not even been holding a rattle when he himself first wielded a scalpel. However, he would refrain from judging his skill level until he either had a name or had seen the man in action. Although the same could not be said for his manners. They seemed to be dead on arrival. Rising from his chair he walked to stand in front of the man. He held out a pale, bony hand. “I am Dr Jarvis and whom might you be?”

Dr J. Jarvis M.D.

“Doctor Drake Marshall.” He shook the man’s hand. “I’ve been asked to do your boarding physical, because a surgeon would never have anything else to do. Have a seat at biobed 6.”

Drake retrieved a medical tricorder and PaDD. “Crewman Jasper Jarvis, M.D.” he said as he pulled up the file. “Let’s get this show on the road.” He started scanning Jarvis.

Dr Jarvis walked over to biobed 6 and sat down. So this was Dr Marshall. Pope had mentioned something about him being on board, however, he had not believed him. He had read some of Marshall’s surgical papers and found some of his theories interesting. However, the man’s supposed insistance on doing every procedure the old fashioned way left much to be desired. While he would always advocate for any surgeon to learn how to opperate without surgical frames, they had their place in any OR. Choosing not to use them bassed on ones own stubborn belief that you could perform any surgery using old methods did not sit right with him. It would be like using a tonsill guilotine instead of conducting a proper tonsillectomy. Still, he would make his own judgements on the man.

“Ready when you are, Dr Marshall,” he said with a smile. Just how old school would the doctor be in a basic physical evaluation.

Dr J. Jarvis M.D

Drake examined his tricorder as scan results came in. He was surprised the man was allowed to walk into a sickbay unattended.

(OOC: Anything interesting in Jasper’s scans?)

The tricorder results would show that Dr Jarvis’ vitals were close to textbook, however, for a man five years his junior.

Jasper looked up at Marshall. “No problems I trust, Doctor?”

Dr J. Jarvis M.D

“You’re in almost suspiciously good health.” Drake closed the tricorder and looked at Jarvis. “The kind of scan that would bore you out of your mind.” He picked up his PaDD and opened Jarvis’ medical history. Instead of just tapping [New Entry], he scrolled down through, reading through the mad scientist’s history.
