Mel moved over to Haven and shifted the bag of supplies on her shoulder. “Zoi, I’m your Science person. I do need to do a bunch of data collection for the area, and going off on my own would be bad, so want to come with?” she asked. “Once I get the lay of the land, quite literally, we can request more equipment and liaise back with the ship.”

OOC: I can start another thread for the Science exploration.

Zoi, upon seeing that the idea of looking for a suitable ground for the hospital was nixed, wondered what else she could do to occupy her time. Should she go with the group and just keep her eye out or should she stay here? Thankfully, she was saved by the former Captain. She smiled warmly. “Yes, I believe that would be an excellent idea.”

She sent a message to Rico to let him know what she was doing and then turned to Mel. “Where would you like to start?” and she gestured in a way that indicated Mel could lead and she would follow.

Looking around, Mel gestured to beyond the camp a bit. “I want to do the perimeter and then check out slightly beyond to see what’s there.” It was highly unlikely anything predatory would be hanging out along the fringes of the encampment, and they’s both sense anything living that tried to sneak up on them.

Willow nodded. “Lead On MacDuff.” She said sounding more upbeat than her expression showed. She began following the clinic CO to the camp looking back only to nod at Mel and Zoi as an affirmative to their plan and then she moved to catch up with Xerdosa. “I’m not sure how long this will take but we will do our best to get it done in a timely fashion. Tell me do you foresee issue with us asking some of the campers to move? Even temporarily?”

Xerdosa met Willow’s gaze and snorted slightly. “Possibly,” she said with a bit of tension. “These people have been through a lot. They set up this camp themselves, before we arrived. They’ve fled difficult situations and from what Lieutenant Griffith has determined, some of them are deeply traumatized. We’re doing our best, but another group arrived last week and as you can imagine it’s been poor timing given the damage the storm wrought.”

“I can imagine.” Willow shook her head. “I can only imagine.” She said honestly.

The camp itself was simply a collection of small waterproof emergency shelters that provided the most basic needs and protection from the elements. The grey buildings were arranged in small groupings that felt less sterile than rows would have, and there was a cooking pit in the middle they could use… at least when the weather cooperated.

Beyond the camp was a wide path that was hard to call a road but was definitely an access point. It wound up to the compound that could be seen at the top. Looking up, Bosede saw a Klingon woman with a walking stick coming down the hill. She raised a hand and the Klingon raised hers in reply. Xerdosa smiled softly. “That’s L’Taan, our main contact at the compound, No doubt she saw your arrival. She’s about as excited for you to be here as we are,” Xerdosa said with a chuckle, which was the first sign of anything but deep fatigue from the woman.

As they walked Willow took in the surroundings and gave a small start when she realised she had stopped walking while Xerdosa walked on. She took the three steps or so to catch up and looked at the Klingon woman her guide pointed out. “Well hopefully that will help us encourage some movement if we need it.”

Jonathan had been mostly observing as of now. His skills as a doctor could help but his primary skills didn’t really come in hand as much here. Still being on reserve wasn’t the worst thing, it gave him plenty of chances to monitor the everyone’s behaviors and gauge their needs. Tension could become high in situations like this, and Jon wanted to be able to keep the Captain up to date on these feelings. Jon saw behind Mel and Zoi together and nodded. Jon hadn’t talked to Zoi much after their date, yet he couldn’t help but find it a bit humorous of all people Mel got straddled with was her.

Pilar headed off towards the area where the medical center was currently set up. She grabbed a couple of her nurses and set them to help the doctors get things set up and organized. She had seen things in worse shape than this during the War. She needed to get things moving efficiently quickly.

Ooc:ok can everyone coming to the camp stay here, those who are going with the medical people Sam opened another thread for that and engineering :) - Cale

Rico looked over at Lt Joshi and nodded. “I’d be more interested in seeing for myself the conditions and the camp, then ask” he told him, “But the obvious first. What trouble have you had with the people here? Unrest, thefts, demands for more attention. That kind of thing?”

Lt Vanhall, CoS

Mayur looked over the camp and sort of half-shook his head. “Not so much. Some of the arrivals come in a heightened state of paranoia, but Lieutenant Griffin is typically on top of that. There’ve been a couple minor incidents involving drunkenness, but hell, I can’t blame them for that either. I’d probably drink too. Joshi did frown slightly. “The one thing that is a bit on the notable side is that when we arrived, they had already set up down here. When we asked why they didn’t set-up up on the hill at the compound, no one has really said anything, but there are some tensions between the Romulans up there and those that have fled to Carraya.”

OOC: So, after reworking things and my plan a bit, it’s Choose Your Own Adventure Time! I was trying to save you time and effort IC, but if you want to go build extra modules on top of the hospital, go for it! Your options are:
1) Remove the current clinic, clear the site and build the new hospital there.
2) Use what little free space you have left around the camp to build a treatment module (and move some of the refugee shelters, then build the hospital once the other site is clear.
3. Make room in the camp for the hospital and for sure convince people to go up to the Ogawa, then tear down the old clinic and use that space as additional

Considerations
1. The clinic is on a slight rise, not enough that the camp would flood, but it’s been beneficial for the clinic so far in the wet weather this climate experiences.
2. You have a total 5 engineers, the hospital will take 3-4 hours to build under ideal conditions.
3. Science on the Ogawa is watching a potential weather front that could hamper your efforts that you don’t know about yet IC.
4. It’s not a big site, so your space is not endless. You have jungle around you on three sides, plus one of those sides that goes soon steeply down the mountainside to the canyon, and the fourth side is a hill with an access path cut into that leads to the Klingon/Romulan Compound.

Let me know what you want to do, and we’ll move forward with this.

Willow considered as she walked around part of the camp. She had a few options before her and there was possibly fault with each one. As it stood the clinic at present, if it even could be called that, was possibly in the best location for the new hospital to be built so that would need to be cleared away first which given the state if it was possibly for the best. She glanced up at it and frowned. This would mean that those patients in the clinic and…her gaze traveled down to where a few feet away her CoS was talking to the camp residents…those who would be in need of immediate medical treatment in the camp if there was anyone would need to go somewhere in the interim.

She stopped walking as she came to the edge of the perimeter and stared into the lush jungle around them. A slight smile spread across her face as the smell of wet thriving plant life always made her feel soothed. She wanted nothing more than to close her eyes and enjoy the moment of it but experience had taught her better than to let her guard down on non federation planets with even things as inoculase as plants.

Willow hit her badge, =^= Taylor to Ogawa, how is the ship holding together number one? =^= she asked.

After she got the status report she considered her report in turn. =^= it’s a bit of a mess down here. There is one or two patients in the current clinic that are being treated and their power is out, the camp seems fairly well put together but I imagine they could use a resupply of provisions. What I want to do is prepare the secondary sickbay to receive those patients at the clinic to continue treatment. Then we are going to land one of the medical modules here at the camp and use that as our primary trade and transport post. That way we have somewhere for anyone else who becomes ill or injured to receive treatment, after engineering have built this they will start clearing away what’s left of the old clinic and begin work on building the prefab hospital at its old site. =^=

She considered again, =^= I want Brad to supervise the transport of the patients and also ensure that the clinic staff have something to eat and some rest before they come back down. They know this place and it’s people better than we do we will defer to their judgement where able. I’ll talk to the clinic Commander and let you know when we are ready to go ahead. Contact all ground teams at that point with the update Taylor out.=^=

Willow then walked back the way she had come towards Xerdosawhere she repeated her plan. After a few moments of explanation she said, “your thoughts Doctor?”

Bosede looked around and nodded. “It’s doable. The people who should definitely go up might need convincing, but I think my team can manage that.” She leaned over ad looked back at Joshi. “Mayur, maybe after L’taan gets here, you and Lieutenant…” She snapped her fingers trying to remember the security chief’s name.

“Vanhall,” Joshi replied with a smile.

“Yes, sorry,” she said with a tired smile to Rico. “You two and on of your new med folk here can go see Nerala and the ladies about getting folks to go up to the Ogawa. Nerala is the elder of the Romulan group and has come to be their defacto leader. If anyone will convince people to go up, it’s her. That and it’s her granddaughter that’s about to have a baby,” Xerdosa explained for the benefit of the Ogawa contingent. Ensign Carr and Lt. Shapiro were just hanging back, taking all the details in.
