Riding the turbo lift Amari took a breath. She was making her way onto the bridge, in command for the first time. Though she couldn’t say she was pleased with the Captain’s decision to go down to the surface of Carraya IV, she understood and respected it.

The doors wooshed open and Commander Brooks strode onto the bridge. She looked around to see who was on duty and made her way to the center chair. “I have the bridge.” She called out as she took the seat. She took a moment to take it all in, her first time in the big chair. She wanted to squeal with delight but didn’t think it would be professional. “Status of the away team?”

-Lt. Cmdr. Amari Brooks, XO

The very junior officer left in charge by Brad when he stole away to check on the mission module leapt up from the center seat as if it had burned her.

“Commander!” she squeaked . “Um, they’re just fine, still - aah - meeting with the, er, clinic staff, and nothingdefinitelyhappenedupheresinceDoctorWalkerlefttenminutesago,” she said, saying the last part in a rush before taking a gasping breath and looking as if she’d rather be anywhere else, plus worried she soon would be.

NE Patsy Forbrad

“Thank you, Ensign, for that concise report,” Amari smiled. She remembered being that nervous ensign. She folded one slender leg over the other and laced her fingers over her knees. “Why don’t you take the ops station. Coordinate with the away team regarding the transfer of the supplies. I would like to make this as smooth a process as possible.” Amari flipped open her command panel and took a look.

-Lt. Cmdr. Brooks, XO

“Yes, Commander, right away!” NE Patsy Forbrad said, making her way over to the ops station and trying desperately to look calm and collected on the way over.

Once she got there, she started reviewing who all the Captain had taken with her, trying to figure out which officer would be the best to coordinate supply transfer with. Should it be the engineers, who would be doing the installation of everything? Or Dr. Marshall? Or Commander O’Keefe? Or the Captain herself? No, surely not, she was probably busy doing Captain-y things with the people in charge…

Amari smiled as she watched the Ensign nervously attempting to follow orders. “Ensign, the away team will contact you when they are ready. I just need you to be ready, okay?” She asked kindly, attempting to be reassuring as well.

“Tactical, scan this area of space. Get a good look at the entire system. With all the talk of Klingons and Romulans it wouldn’t be wise to not know exactly what’s flying around out there. Science stations, monitor the weather patterns down on the surface. Alert me to anything out of the ordinary near the away team’s location.” She felt good about the orders she was issuing out, feeling as though she was covering her bases.

-Lt. Cmdr. Brooks, XO

“Aye Ma’am.” Said the NE at the science station. The NE was also connected with T’Pris down in the science labs so their scans and info could be coordinated.

NE Science

The XO refrained from squealing. It was a whole new ball game being in command and Amari was enjoying more than she imagined. She flipped open the command panel and took a look at the available data.

NE Phonehome looked over from comma. “Commander I have the captain.” He said and patched the channel through, Willow’s voice came on then, =^= Taylor to Ogawa, how is the ship holding together number one? =^= she asked.

The XO was relieved to hear her captain’s voice. =/\=Still in one piece, Captain. How are things on your end?=/\=

=^= it’s a bit of a mess down here. There is one or two patients in the current clinic that are being treated and their power is out, the camp seems fairly well put together but I imagine they could use a resupply of provisions. What I want to do is prepare the secondary sickbay to receive those patients at the clinic to continue treatment. Then we are going to land one of the medical modules here at the camp and use that as our primary trade and transport post. That way we have somewhere for anyone else who becomes ill or injured to receive treatment, after engineering have built this they will start clearing away what’s left of the old clinic and begin work on building the prefab hospital at its old site. =^=

As the captain spoke, Amari nodded, repeated and confirmed in her head what the CO was ordering. =/\=Understood, Captain.=/\=

Taylor’s voice seemed to stop suddenly as though she were thinking, =^= I want Brad to supervise the transport of the patients and also ensure that the clinic staff have something to eat and some rest before they come back down. They know this place and it’s people better than we do we will defer to their judgement where able. I’ll talk to the clinic Commander and let you know when we are ready to go ahead. Contact all ground teams at that point with the update Taylor out.=^=

Being in command on the bridge, it turns out, wasn’t as excited as everyone made it out to be. Waiting, waiting, and more waiting. Amari chuckled to herself. It could be worse, she thought, you could be fighting off Romulans, she laughed again. She couldn’t remember the last time the Federation and the Romulans had a skirmish. The Romulans were far too busy with more pressing matters these days.

=/\=Bridge to secondary sickbay. Prepare to receive injured and infirm from Carraya IV clinic. Standby for further details.=/\=

=/\=Bridge to Commander Walker. Report to secondary sickbay and oversee the transport of the clinic’s patients to the Ogawa. Please, play generous and gracious host to the staff as well. Make sure they are all taken care of. If you need assistance, let the bridge know.=/\=

She leaned back in the center chair. And when your done with that, wait some more, she thought, with another chuckle.

-Lt. Cmdr. Brooks, XO
