There weren’t many children or teens on the Ogawa. Those that were would probably need him more as a babysitter than as a source of conversation. He supposed it wasn’t that surprising given that both of their parent figures were in Starfleet. It really wasn’t that unusual. And he was just an ordinary kid now that his health wasn’t in so much danger. He had a future ahead of himself though no idea what he might want to do with it. : He finished chewing his bite of hamburger and took a sip of pop.”Ever think about what you might want to do when you get older?” He asked curiously. : : Adrian Sorel Cai shrugged. “ I’m not really sure, I guess it’ll depend on what I feel like. Adrian Sorel shook his head,”No, I am confused as well. My mother wishes me to go into either the sciences or medical, of course. I might do something with medical as I had learned quite a bit being around them so much. But then at other times I am so sick of it.” He shrugged.”I wish I could do something with my music, that is what I like the most. But I don’t know if it is what I want to do totally. What could I do with it?” He frowned as he considered it.

Cai considered the youth. “Music is a very difficult field to make a living in. You could travel, play music like a bard. Or start a band? I duno. If it’s medical you like however I guess you are in the right place. You could ask if you can help in sickbay.”

Adrian Sorel grimaced.”Nah, I don’t think so. Maybe science, I am pretty good there too. You said you thought you knew once, what was it?” He asked as he finished his burger and began to polish off his fries.

“Worth asking.” The boy agreed. Cai looked pensive for a moment. “I was going to be a researcher.”He said quietly his expression going stoic and his eyes looking haunted. After a few moments silence He frowned then Scowled and shook his hair out of his eyes. “ But now I’m not. Instead I spend my days on this scrap yard wannabe as a ghost writer I guess you could call it.” His tone had turned bitter, he indicated the stacks of PaDDs and texts he had been studying when the younger boy had entered. If Adrian cared to look closer he would see it was a range from history to physics and random things like cadet engineering 101.

Adrian Sorel did lean forward and noted the wide variety of subjects.”That’s pretty good if your able to do all that. I couldn’t do all those, I don’t think. Well, we’re not suppose to know yet, right?” He said with a shrug and a small wry grin before picking up his drink to finish it.

Cai shrugged, “I guess I get bored.” He said under his breath and finished his drink before looking around. “ I better go. Things to do you know?” He said and began pulling his belongings together. “ It was kool to speak to someone who isn’t either an adult or in a hurry, we could do this again maybe.” He flicked his hair out of his eyes and readjusted his ear buds under his hood.

“Sure.” Adrian Sorel said as he rose as well, picking up their dishes and walked with Cai toward the doors, detouring toward the food recycler to drop their dishes into. After this visit with Cai and the one with the Counselor he was starting to feel like he might find a place here after all. It might not be as bad as he feared.
