“We’re here to provide relief to both the patients and those currently treating them,” Brad replied coldly. “There are enough people here to cover treatment of the refugees while we arrange a hot meal and some rack time for their current providers.”

Lt. Cmdr. Dr. Brad Walker
Chief of Staff

“You make it sound like we are running a soup kitchen for the homeless, Commander,” Dr Jarvis replied. “Tell me, is it common practice for us to serve food in what is supposed to be a sterile environment?” he asked, actually interested in the reply as he had not yet started on the hefty tome regarding sick bay protocol. “I would have thought the lounge and its staff would have been better suited to that task.”

Dr J. Jarvis M.D

Brad’s eyes narrowed further. Obstinate jackass!

“The lounge is too far away for them to give input on their patients’ conditions if we need it quickly. The admin suite and conference room can be configured to host a buffet, and I know my office at least has a sofa that can be configured into a cot.”

Lt. Cmdr. Dr. Brad Walker
Chief of Staff

In transporter room 1, Dr Marshall appeared and an alarm went off. The computer said “WARNING. FOREIGN PATHOGEN DETECTED. REPORT TO SICKBAY.” The NE Transporter Chief came around to show Drake the way. “Don’t you see the damned labcoat? I’ve been there before.” He stormed out.

A few minutes later he entered sickbay. “No time to talk. Foreign pathogen.” He grabbed the tricorder off his belt and began scanning himself.

-Dr Drake Marshall

Dr Jarvis strode forward, tricorder in hand. “Unless I am mistaken, you do not get to examine, diagnose and treat yourself, Dr Marshall.” A smile tugged at the corners of his lips. “Now, hold still while I examine you.” He held the tricorder up and began to scan the man.

Dr J. Jarvis M.D

‘Oh good, it’s the other stubborn jackass,’ Brad thought, hoping there were no telepaths in the room to pick up on the sentiment.

Outwardly, he just sighed and had the computer erect a containment field around the two men.

As if to add to the annoyance, the com chimed. =^= Bridge to sickbay. Doctor Walker cafe to explain why the containment Alert is now flashing on the bridge when I am waiting for a clinics worth of rfugeees being transported aboard?=^= willows voice asked testily.

=/\=Because apparently one of the Away Team members picked up some bug on his way back to the ship, not naming names, of course, but I’ve had to isolate Dr. Marshall until we clear whatever it is. I’ll be heading to Main Sickbay, we can take about a half-dozen of the worst cases there while Secondary Sickbay is ‘contaminated,’=/\= Brad said, already heading for the door to alert the Main sickbay crew to prepare for the unexpected arrivals.

Lt. Cmdr. Dr. Brad Walker
Chief of Staff

=^= That’s perfect.=^= she replied in a tone that made it unclear if she was being sarcastic or not. =^= thank you for the speedy solution Doctor Walker. Please ensure that, when this mission is finished, your entire staff have a full day debriefing on contaminants and exposure procedures. I will alert Commander Brookes regarding our move.=^=

The initial scan showed Walker was infected with a virus that was happily making quick speed through his system. The virus itself didn’t not ping an automatic match in the database.

OOC: Er… you mean Marshall? Or did he give it to me while storming in like an inconsiderate jerk?

Brandon

OOC: lol, yes, sorry, I meant Marshall. Brain has been a bit all over the place as I’ve been recovering. ~Linds

OOC: ‘S fine :)

-Brandon

Dr Jarvis read the tricorder reading, a slight smirk playing on his lips. “It seems that you’ve contracted a virus, Dr Marshall, and one that is quickly making its way through your system.” His smile widened. “And apparently there is no obvious match for it in our database. Not to mention the fact that you’ve brought it aboard the ship. Dear me we are in trouble.”

With the containment field now surrounding the entirety of secondary sickbay and with quarantine procedures now in place, Dr Jarvis strode over to a biobed. “Lie down, Dr Marshall.”

He set the biobed to perform a more in-depth scan to determine which areas of the doctor’s body that were most heavily affected.

Dr J. Jarvis, M.D

“You realise Jarvis, that I don’t trust you. At all. I trust you as much as I would trust a Ferengi offering to do this pro bono.” He laid down on the biobed. “I want to see every scan.”

-Dr Drake Marshall

-bump-

“As a patient, you will be kept informed to the degree that the medical staff treating you deem necessary,” Dr Jarvis replied as he ran the results of the initial scan through the database, in search of any partial matches. “Besides, Dr Marshall, you would be surprised at the quality of work a Ferengi will do pro bono… if given the right incentive.”

Dr J. Jarvis M.D

Drake stared him down. “The patient has the right to access any and all information pertinent to their case. You know that. And I’m not particularly fond of following a madman blindly. You’ll keep me informed, or you will step aside. That is an order from the head surgeon and your superior officer.”

-Dr Drake Marshall

OOC: this sim has ended as per: https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf3/ogawa/notes/38073/
But please do continue this in a side thread a bit if you want. Their interactions are fun to read!
