<snip>Cai watched Brad carefully and then gave him the sort of stare down typically associated with dogs vying for territory. “I like Doug.” He said with a sense of finality that made his sister scowl angrily at him.
Brad met his stare evenly. “Not saying I don’t, he’s a decent guy, we just don’t really run in the same circles.”
Apparently finished the boy stood and took what was left of his food away with him, “nice to meet you Brad,” He said politely and vanished back into his room.
“You too, Cai,” Brad replied with a nod.
Willow seemed to flop backwards in her seat. “I am so sorry.” She said tiredly.
“Eh, that wasn’t so bad,” Brad said, taking a long pull of his drink. “Not your fault your brother has such poor taste in men,” he added with a grin.

Willow laughed slightly and the smile didn’t fade. “ I think he thought that you coming to eat was a date.” She said. “It’s like…I can’t talk to anyone who is Male. I should really redo the birds and bees talk with him…I don’t think he gets it.”
“You could traumatize him and get a Vulcan to do it,” Brad suggested. “I had one as a Health teacher in high school, and we spent an entire class period getting lectured about the logic over ‘ensuring both, or all, partners in a sexual interaction receive the satisfaction they came into the engagement expecting.”

Chief of StaffWillow laughed. “Perfect do you think T’Pris in science would be up for that? Or should i ask Nurse Elkins? Shes part Vulcan.”

CO“Doesn’t T’Pris have a boy about Cai’s age? Maybe they could both do with a refresher,” Brad suggested. “Especially now that there’s a new girl their age on board. The last thing any of us need is any relationship that may develop there going badly.”

Chief of StaffWillow’s eyes widened, “Oh god no…I didn’t think about that.” The joke seemed less funny now, “you don’t think they would…I mean Cai’s like 16…he was a toddler seven minutes ago.” She rubbed her eyes with one hand. “He’s more sensible than that he’s the eldest.” She thought back to what she was doing as a 16 year old and stood to get more beer. “I need another drink.” She said.

Brad shrugged, leaning back in the chair. “I’m not implying anything, just saying from what I’ve heard about Ms. Brooks she and Cai would probably get on like a house on fire,” he said. “And with both you and her mom rather busy, they’ll have plenty of time unsupervised to get up to… shenanigans. And I for one would prefer any shenanigans to be of the clothes on variety, because those are so much less embarrassing to treat when they go wrong.”
