=/\=Crap. Alright, watch him closely, you’ve got my backing to do what you need short of killing him,=/\= Brad replied.

“I would have thought Doctor Holt would have been doing this surgery. Isn’t he the general specialist?” the intern asked, even though there was no Doctor Holt on board.

“Who?” NE That Guy asked.

Lt. Cmdr. Dr. Brad Walker/NE That Guy
Chief of Staff/Random Dude

“Dr. Holt,” the intern re-stated. “You know, head of the General Surgery department?” She looked around to see that people were picking up the thread of her thought.

“I was unaware that there was a General Surgery department on board,” Dr Jarvis replied offhandedly. He had little time to think on the comment as the surgery still required his full attention. However, it did strike him as odd. As far as he was concerned, the only proper surgeons on board were himself and Dr Marshall.

The intern looked slightly surprised. “Uhh, okay. A starbase this big does sort of make it necessary. I mean, there are four thousand people on board,” she said with a giggle before remembering she was talking to a more senior staff member and looked down with embarrassment.

Ignoring the back and forth between the chief of staff and chief of surgery, Dr Jarvis finished with the vascular regenerator and held it out for the nurse to take. “I was unaware that we had a Dr Holt on board, however, it is possible that I have not encountered him yet. Regardless, Nurse, I am the one performing this surgery,” he emphasised, alluding to the nonsense going on between the senior officers. If this was going to be the reaction every time he tried to save someone’s life, he would not be surprised to find himself in the brig sooner or later. “Nurse, hand me the anabolic protoplaser. We can now begin repairing the damage to the organ itself.”

Bump for Harley and Linds.

Meanwhile outside of the surgery Cai sat looking a little lost and more than a bit shocked considering his sort of, but not in that way, friend had collapsed in front of him and the doctors had all rushed off to deal with it. He watched Drake on the other side of sickbay and looked around. There were a lot of people he didn’t know in sickbay....he hated sickbays. This posting was the worst of all the ships Willow had dragged him to because it was basically one giant sickbay. The teenager shuddered, a clamp sort of sweat breaking out across his forehead and closing his eyes willed the nauseated feeling to go away.

Drake didn’t want to interact with the Captain’s brother again, but he has been taught that there are certain things you just do. He walked over and sat down. “She’s going to be fine. You on the other hand, look like crap. What’s the deal?”

-Dr Drake Marshall

Opening his eyes he looked at Drake and gave the required scowl of angsts teens. “I don’t like sickbays. When they are empty and it’s quick it’s fine but full like this it gives me the creeps ok. Can you go away and deal with someone else.”

“Well you also look like you’re about to hurl on my sickbay floor. And the guy I would typically put on mop detail is in surgery. So, how about you tell me what’s really going on? Then I’ll medicate you and you can tell me to go to hell. Deal?” Drake had been Cai ten years earlier, minus the blue hair. He understood hating the world because it felt like nothing but pressure in a place where no one really cared. Cai had the advantage of not being in his first year at the Medical Academy at the time. He just needed something beyond the metal music and pissing off his sister to do that he cared about.

-Dr Drake Marshall

Just then, Melaia and Jonathan entered the med bay with the twins in tow and Mel looking like she was trying her best to hide her pain. Quickly she surveyed the the place and knew that her injury was minor and low priority, so she simply moved over to the waiting area. “You can leave the kids here and go. I know they probably need you,” she told Jonathan.

OOC: I’m sorry for the delay. I was wondering, however, if we should split this thread. It’s a bit confusing as there are really two locations going on here, the main area of sickbay and the surgical suite. I’ll change the location for my reply and those in the surgical suite can reply. If you are in sickbay, go back one post and reply to that one.

IC: Sadee’s vitals began to stabilize, and her color was slowly returning to normal.

-Sadee

The intern handed over the instrument, but the tray wobbled slightly. Fortunately for all of them, nothing fell over. Behind her mask, her cheeks flushed three shades darker.

Anabolic Protoplaser in hand, Dr Jarvis began the process of repairing the girl’s spleen. Glad that something on the other side of the OR door’s had drawn Dr Marshall’s attention away. The man was quickly becoming an exceptionally disagreeable shadow. At least now he could complete the surgery in relative peace. Assuming, of course, his nurse did not decide to drop something else.

Dr J. Jarvis M.D

The repairs to the spleen went well. It looked as though Jarvis was able to save the organ.

-Sadee, open on the table.

OOC: She’s not a nurse, but a surgical intern (as far as you know). I just assumed that when I brought her in that the nurse Jarvis was referring to was an NE of yours. Just to make sure things are clear.
IC:
The intern leaned over slightly and peered at the spleen as it was being repaired. “That’s a nice line of repair, Doctor,” she said, smiling behind her mask.

OOC: sorry, linds, my bad.

IC:
“It was nothing difficult, my dear. However, it is nice to know that someone appreciates my work around here.” He held out the Anabolic Protoplaser for her to take. “The organ tissue seems to have regenerated sufficiently and the blood vessels repaired. Now, hand me the Celular Microsuture so I can finish the internal repair, then we can close.”

Dr J. Jarvis M.D

The intern took the one instrument and handed Jarvis the next one.
