“That’s kool.” Cai relented in response to the comments about her father. The wistful expression seemed to make a similar response grow in the teen.
Drake noticed Cai relaxing in Mel’s company. As he worked, he realised Crap. She’s a scientist. Active duty- USS Ogawa. Photographic memory my ass. “Of course, you’re just returning to the sciences yourself. I just… don’t happen to know what specialty. Physics seems his speed.” Nice save, genius. When Drake’s confidence failed him, it did so in spectacular fashion.

“I sort of puttered between biochem and stellar sciences,” Reez replied simply. “But I never really got to specialize per say, since I was a cadet during the war and had a field graduation. My studies were a little… different than the norm. Afterwards, I kept to more general studies and decided to pursue command after awhile.”
Cai looked at Marshall “I’ve seen some of your surgery recordings.” He didn’t state how or why he had seen these. “You don’t use the frame…why?”
Cai
Drake smiled a little. “I don’t want to be dependent on it. The more I rely on skill alone, the more I’m forced to improve. If you want to be the best, you have to always continue learning. And I can’t afford to make a mistake because a computer won’t catch it and fix it for me. So I learn to do better, work around problems.” He glanced at Cai. “Watching surgical recordings? Just curious in general or because I put your arm back together? If you want something interesting, Praxia IV-22 May 2393. John Markus, spinal fracture and rupture, complete. He can walk now. And he didn’t get a transplant.”

Mel could read the emotions going on with the other two, but as she often did, she made no indication that that was the case.
Cai listened as Drake explained his reasons. It made sense, he could respect that. As the Doctor continued the teen shrugged. “Something to do. Not like this place is a hub of activity.” He caught himself. “Thank you though, I guess I could check that out.” He couldn’t tell drake of course that the idea of the surgery was actually fairly exciting.
Cai
“Last time I fractured something, it healed well but required a mild amount of PT. Are we looking at similar here?” Reez asked the doctor.
~Melaia Reez
“We should be pretty much done with the actual healing. Given that you fractured your wrist, a few weeks PT, nothing serious, but better to ease it back into full function. Rule of thumb, if it hurts; don’t do it. Anything else before I go?”

Melaia smirked. “No, thank you. And I’ll try my best not to overdo it.” How she’d manage that with twins moving about, well, her and Jon would just need to figure it out. She flexed her hand and turned the wrist, feeling that she had full motion. “It feels good, thanks again.”

Drake nodded. “If you want someone to check the kids, Dr Scott is upstairs, and Dr Lemann should be somewhere in all of this mess. Paediatric surgery is more my speed than paediatric medicine.” He looked at Cai, “Young Master Taylor, you were by the door for a while, anything interesting come in while we were here?”
