Scott made his way from main engineering back towards the turbolift and paused outside the door, looking at his PaDD of the McCoy-class schematics.

“Whats the difference between primary and secondary sickbay?” he stood to the side and flicked between the two options weighing the chances of going to the wrong place. “Well dental is nice… I could use a tooth check perhaps. So that is secondary.” He flicked his thumb again back to the entry for the primary sickbay, “On the other-hand, this one is smaller and where the CMO’s office is. Maybe this is the outpatient clinic? Or is it the VIP suite?”

The engineer wrestled with the choice between the two and finally made the choice to go to the primary sick bay. Absolute worst case he could say he was checking in with the XO, he reasoned.

Lt. Woods.
Engineer

A towering black hooded form seemed to suddenly appear from nowhere standing beside the engineer and looked down from its seven foot height, it’s bone white skull grinned at him (since that’s all it could do). It appeared to be eating a bagel, however the jaw didn’t move, just brought the bagel up to the teeth and then a chunk was gone from the bread item.

SORRY…YOU SEEM A LITTLE LOST. CAN I HELP YOU FIND SOMETHING? it asked Scott.

“Oh yes…” Scott said without looking up, eyes glued to the ships schematic. “I am trying to decide which medical.. fa..cil…” it is at this point the timid engineer looked up to see the dentist his eyes going wide before the man returned his gaze to his PaDD.

Joe, it seemed was used to this sort of reaction. He ignored it and peered down at the schematics himself. Hmmmm he said, reaching a boney hand up to scratch his chin. It sounded like rakes over dry earth.

“I mean the main one on Deck 1 is probably quieter, right? A physical there isn’t going to be that obtrusive, but what about the second one? Is that the Main Sick bay for crew? If so why is it labeled secondary?” The Engineer tried his best to avoid eye contact with the dentist but continued his prattling about mundane engineering decisions of central command.

Lt. Woods
Engineering

I BELIEVE THAT THE PRIMARY SICKBAY IS FOR LESS INVASIVE AND EMERGENT CASES, TRIAGE AND SUCH WHILE SECONDARY IS WHERE SURGEONS AND SUCH ARE. I SHOULD NOT THINK THAT IT MATTERS WHICH YOU CHOOSE EACH HAS COMPETENT MEDICAL STAFF TO MEET YOUR NEEDS. he tilted his head and the blue pinpricks of lights deep in his sockets seemed to glow bright under the hood of his robe. His tone became more excitable TELL ME HOWEVER, WILL YOU BE IN NEED IF A DENTAL CHECK UP?

Dr Yelchin walked up behind the pair. He had grown used to the dentist’s appearances in sickbay, not comfortable with them, just used to. “Are you being in need of medical care?” The young Russian asked.

-NE Dr Yelchin

DOCTOR.* Joe acknowledged.
