Pilar nodded “My daughter has a brain injury that was caused by an unfortunate run in with some Cardassians. I need to know that we can continue working on her treatment now that Ally and Jonathan had left the ship. She felt slightly off put, but it was what it was.

“I don’t see any reason why we couldn’t, aside from the need to assign a new attending,” Brad said. “Of course, that new attending might have his or her own ideas to contribute for the treatment plan, would you be open to that?”

OOC: This is fun, writing a bridge to something I know is already going on in another thread…

“I would be open to that.” Pilar said “I just need to look out for what is going to be best for my daughter and our family.” She said looking between the two senior officers “Understand that I will do anything for my family.” She said “So where do we start in figuring out what to do?” She asked.

Willow listened and carefully considered the options. “Of course you will Pilar. And we will help you do whatever it takes.” She looked thoughtfully at Brad. “It would be prudent to explore all options. Perhaps as Doctor Walker suggests asking for a surgical consult to see if anything can be done to repair the damage and also a consult with Doctor Darren regarding therapy moving in from that.”

Brad nodded. Strictly speaking, none of his surgeons were neurological specialists, but something like that, he knew, would never stop Marshall or Jarvis from offering to make the attempt.

Pilar nodded “We will consider all options.” She said “I would like surgery to be the last option we look at.” She said “It may need to be a combination of therapy and medical treatment. But that is based on my rudimentery knowledge of the brain and how it works.” She said.

Willow nodded. “So, moving forward what do you think would be the best plan?” She asked them both as she looked between them.

“I think the best option would be to consult Dr. Marshall,” Brad said. “Not because we want to necessarily commit to surgery, but because he might notice something the initial treatment missed.”

Lt. Cmdr. Dr. Brad Walker
Chief of Staff

Pilar nodded “I will set up a meeting with Dr. Marshall.” She said “We will look at all of the options and decide what is the best for Otana.”
