When he was satisfied, Jasper removed the stethoscope plugs from his ears. “Your heart rate is elevated, Captain,” he said in a slightly disgruntled tone. He had been hoping to find at least something wrong with her more interesting than pneumonia. “However, I do think you have a point. Perhaps we should start over, you and I.” A sly grin spread across his lips. “And what better place to start than by you undergoing a full physical exam.”

Dr J. Jarvis M.D

well duh she thought as he gave her his assessment. That is obvious since I feel like I’m breathing through a wet sponge you hack. she didn’t get a chance to respond however, as the sly grin covered his face and he seemed to cheer up immensely.

“Are you joking?” She wheezed and the air pulling in to exclaim her disgust at his conclusion caused another coughing fit. It lasted a full 40 second or so and left her feeling washed out and exhausted. She glanced almost longingly at the bed she sat on almost as though it called to her to lie down and just, sleep.

“I’m quite serious, Captain,” Dr Jarvis replied quite calmly. “Tell me, when was the last time you had a full physical examination?”

Dr J. Jarvis M.D.

Willow continued to cough lightly as she frantically cast her mind back to when she had one. She had reported for the boarding evaluation when they had boarded…that was what? A long time ago now. It was about time for her next one. She surveyed him quietly, he had been into her records that much was obvious, so he knew. It wasn’t a real question.

She had come to sickbay for some relief, ironically for care. She caught sight of the nurse returning with the Hypo sprays in hand and instead of responding to Jarvis she simply did as the biobed bid her and lay flat on her back and put an arm over her eyes. “Urgh” was all she said.

Dr Jarvis picked up the first hypospray and, without warning, administered the dosage into Willow’s neck. “If urgh is the best you can manage, Captain, then we are going to have a problem.” He picked up the second hypospray. “Shall I enlighten you as to when your last full physical examination was? And by last, I mean one in which a doctor properly examined and recorded data on you.”

Dr J Jarvis M.D.

As the medication entered her blood stream Willow pulled a face. It always gave her a fuzzy feeling that the Doctor in her knew was entirely psychosomatic. “I think we already have a problem.” She muttered in response. Louder she said “Just spit it out and give me the other shot…”
The biobed registered a slight increase in her heart rate and temperature.

Dr Jarvis deliberately twidled the second hypospray in his hand. “It was while you were still living on earth at the time,” he replied, giving her a thin smile.

Willow sighed again dramatically. “Ok. What do you want Jarvis.”
