Posted by Civilian Melaia Reez (Scientist) in Deck 3 - Reez Quarters, Main Sim Posted by… suppressed (8) by the Post Ghost! 👻 (snip) Anisha also zeroed in on the spot, standing face to face with Melaia and looked puzzled. I agree. It’s here, yet it isn’t. Do you believe in ghosts? she thought. Maybe we should get somebody from Science down here
  • Anisha Onuru

Perhaps. I do have a science background though. I just don’t have any equipment, but Jon keep a med kit in here at all times. I think we should notify the bridge though. If I were the Captain, I’d want to know, even if there wasn’t anything concrete, Mel replied.

But I do think it’s safe to bring the babies in and I’d like them to be where I can see them, Mel added, moving to the corridor to retrieve her children. She could at least keep them just inside the door until they figured out whatever they needed to.

Few moments passed and a door could be heard as it swooshed open. Jonathan looked a little stunned, he wasn’t sure what was going on as he entered, his eyes darting to Mel then to Anisha. “Red?” Jon asked with a worried tone to his voice.

Reez, CoP

Mel felt her husband’s presence and managed not to walk into him. “Hey,” she said, slipping past him to push the babies’ buggy back into their quarters.

“The twins apparently have had some sort of psi event this morning and both Anisha and I are picking up something. It feels like a lot like despair. I’m certain it’s not from anything in our quarters, but it’s definitely in a location near here,” Melaia said with confidence. “I think the bridge should know, but that’s just the Captain in me speaking.” In other words, she really felt like this was command decision worthy.

Jon looked taking aback, she didn’t wait to slide it into high gear. This was not what he had expected at all. “Okay…” he said, his slight psychic connection by just being bonded to Mel sometimes gave him some insight, but he doubted right now it was going to give him much of anything. He could be surprised though, “What do we know though? Presence? When did this first begin? Do we have some exact times?”

Reez, CoP

“This morning the twins were… off, before our appointments in Sickbay. The appointments were at 1000 hours and we just got back.” Mel looked at Anisha for a moment as if they might be able to describe it better, but it was still such a vague thing. “It’s not like a person’s presence, when you know someone is there but can’t see them. It feels… smaller. But like there might be some sort of emotion attached to it.” She shrugged as she looked at her husband. “It’s affecting more than one person, so yeah, someone should know I think.”
Meanwhile, the twins were oddly quiet and also alert, which Mel noticed and she gazed at them at length.

~Melaia Reez

“I can get this to the Captain, but I don’t want to leave you here alone.” Jonathan said, clearly feeling conflicted. He didn’t want to leave her alone but his duty was to the ship and alerting the Captain. He sighed as he weighed his options. Family and duty often made

“We’ll be fine. I don’t feel in danger,” Mel said confidently. “But more than one person on the ship picking up the same thing is important information, at least in this case.” She looked at the twins. “And as soon as we figure it out, the sooner they can be reassured.”

“Okay, I will get to the bridge. What do I tell her exactly? We have… an entity? She may want some more evidence to go along with this Red.” he s aid, wanting to make sure he had all the information before he left.

As Mariah made her way down the corridor toward the Reez quarters, she debated whether she should be making the trip at all. She had only seen Mel this morning and had led her to believe Grayson would wait to reach out again until Mel was comfortable, but truthfully, Mariah had been thinking about Mel ever since their conversation this morning. Post-partum challenges weren’t uncommon and were quite treatable, but dealing with that stress on top of the unexpected with her twins, no matter how minor? It was a lot to deal with, and Grayson’s gut was telling her there was no harm in reaching out sooner rather than later. It was for this reason she found herself in front of the Reez quarters, pressing the chime.

OOC Lori: I hope joining this thread is ok? Let me know if a new one is better,

OOC: Perfectly fine.

Jonathan looked at the door as he heard the page. He wasn’t sure who else would be here. “You expecting anyone love?” he said as he went to the door and opened it to see who was there.

Reez, CoP

Melaia shook her head. “No, I wasn’t expecting anyone.”

Peeking her head around Jon, Mel say Mariah there. “Dr. Grayson,” she greeted. “Is everything okay?”

~Melaia Reez

“Pleasure to meet you Doctor Grayson.” Jon nodded. “I am just about on my way, how can we help you?”

Reez, CoP

Mariah suddenly felt silly for coming by unannounced and embarrassed for interrupting Mel’s family time. “Everything’s fine,” she reassured. “After I saw you today, I just wanted to come by and check in. I see you are busy, so I can come back later if it would be better.”

Mel shook her head. “No, not at all,” she said with a slight smile. “We’re just sorting out what we think might have caused the episode the twins had earlier. Both Anisha and I are definitely getting some sort of feelings of distress. It’s close by, but not in here.”

~Melaia Reez

“It’s a pleasure to meet you too, Dr. Reez,” Mariah warmly, standing aside so he could go past her since he said he was about to go on his way. To Mel she offered, “Hmm…I’m not a psionic expert, but it occurred to me the twins could be upset by any number of things they aren’t yet old enough to process. Is it possible what’s upsetting them is something simple but hard to see?”

Anisha had been strangely quite, now she spoke up. “You don’t need to report this to the Captain anymore. My brother has already done it.” she said in a somewhat distant tone of voice.
“We both agree we haven’t felt this presence on the ship before. That makes it an alien intruder, so he had to report it.” she added, blushing slightly as she looked to the floor. It was not the first time she had to be the voice of Arun in Starfleet matters… but she was no Starfleet officer and while she knew more about Starfleet than any other civilian, thanks to their constant mind-link, she still felt slightly uncomfortable saying words with an authority that was not hers.

  • Anisha Onuru

“I’m sure we’ll get to the bottom of this,” Mariah assured Mel. Looking to Anisha, Grayson offered, “Please forgive me for failing to say hello earlier. I’m Mariah Grayson. I got to visit with Mel and her adorable little ones earlier.”
