There were three basic scenarios that the computer simulations popped out:
1) The Ogawa used a combination of an EM field and Tachyon burst from the deflector ahead of their impact with the subspace bubble barrier at their current power allocations. Result: The ship hit the barrier and managed a hole through but the subsequent damage would likely cause irreparable damage and weaken the frame of the ship,

Mark didn’t have much time. “You two… do what you can to make sure we get out of subspace in one piece. I’m going to go see what the other departments have. Good luck.”

-Lt(j.g.) Mark Pierce, CE

“Aye aye. Sir. McNalie looked over the readouts, which were fine seeing as they had just been adjusted and readjusted and4 refined and redifined then readjusted back to original default then reset to the new ready state, then once more put into a ready state. In the end she put angry Kingonis up on a monitor and slingshooted Klingons at Tellerite structures. Silly game but it passed the ftime.

The only way to get close to the parameters laid out was to Pick Option 3 (use tachyon burst only at 120% and pulled all non-essential power and directed it to the SIF and shields. They shut down the rest of the non-essential systems, reducing remaining essential systems to 25%) but to find a weaker spot in the subspace bubble that would lessen the impact the ship had to make to pierce it. Perhaps a spot that had already suffered an impact would be of use?

M’Nalie shut down the game as it really wasn’t her nature to slack off while working anyways. It had calmed some of her frustration though so that was a good thing as she was able to think clearly again.

=^= Engineer M’Nalie to Chief Engineer Pierce. We are all set here sir. She’s as prepared as she can get. But we have to exit at a spot that has already been comprimised. If we can locate where we entered in the first place thats likely our best chance. Projections indicate that if we try to exit at any spot that has the barrior fully intact we will not remain intact on the other side.=^= and she sighed and prayed to her ancestors then went back to keeping things as optimal as possible.

Woods rolled his eyes, subtly, as he read the results. “Great. I am going to cripple a star ship,” he muttered to himself. “The Old Man is going to send me to a prison colony for sure.” He looked up and tapped his badge, =/\= Engineering to science. Ensign Eshenti and I have a plan, and she is running it by the chief, but can you help us out? =/\=

Lt. Woods
Engineering

“Ensign Riggs here. What do you need?”

~Mischief Maker

=/\= Can you search out a weak spot in the bubble? If we can find some place weak enough we might be able to get through and you know…=/\= Woods let his voice trail, opting to leave out “Cripple the Owie so that all we can do is signal for help.”

Lt. Woods

M’Nalie listened to the byplay on the comms. She almost heard what the CE had left out of the com message as she was fairly sure that should they hit a hard spot there wouldnt be more than shattered wreakage and pulverised meat drifting in a slowly expanding vapor cloud. Like the CE she didn’t imagine saying so outloud would help morale.

=/\=I think I’ve found the original spot, or at least a substantially weaker spot. Might do the trick. Did you want me to forward them coordinates to the bridge?=/\=

~Mischief Maker (cross posted from Science Lab)

M’Nalie wanted to hug the scientist but of course it was hard to do over coms. Caitans were fairly open about emotional displays so she purred out, =^= This information is of best use to the command crew. Send your findings directly to the helm and inform the Captain. I will provide you with a proper meal when time permits . =^=, and she looked at Woods smiled and stated, “We may actually survive this.”, and gave the man a quick hug.

=/\=On it. Science out.=/\=

~Mischief Maker

The engineer blinked a couple of times at the embrace and patted M’Nalie, awkwardly on the back. “Uh. There there. I am sure it will be alright.” When he was released he went back to the control panel and awaited any commands from the bridge.

M’Nalie let Woods go. A bit embarrassed and wondering why she had done that. She took on the very feline I meant to do that look and turned back to her station. “Everything is ready. I for one will be happy toget into normal space and get back to warp speeds.”, she said with a hint of a purr.

“You assume we aren’t going to blow out the nacels or something else,” Scott said to Eshenti with a low grumble under his breath. “I mean this will work but I am not conviced we wont cripple the ship and leave ourselves adrift in who knows where.” His hand hovered over one of the sliders before continuing, “What if we pop out in the delta quadrant and no one around to tow us to a federation friendly base?”

Lt. Woods
Engineering

M’Nalie looked over at Woods. Lt. I think if I must admit my opinion you have had a sour confection added to your morning meal. We will just have to exit and hope that we do so where we expect to be in a condition sufficently intact to drag ourselves to a starbase. We should also hope that we are not several hundredyears displaced in time. We know close to nothing about this bubble we have byeen stuck in. We may not be able to tell till after we exit.

Ensign M’Nalie Eshenti. Engineer.

Science signalled that additional adjustments to the deflector were made and the ship was ready to go.

Then a comm came over ship-wide. =/\=Attention all crew, this is the captain speaking. We’re about to traverse the subspace barrier in hopes of exiting back into normal space. Brace yourselves for likely impact and damage.=/\=

Impulse engines were engaged and the ship began moving into the entry point.

~Mischief Maker

Scott took a deep breath and punched the buttons that engineering needed to push then closed his eyes tightly. “Eshenti, if this is the last thing I say while I am alive, it has been a pleasure. Also I am extremely allergic to cats.”

Lt. Woods
Engineering

The ship moved through the small aperture with the tachyon burst widening the hole a great deal more and at first nothing seemed to happen. But as the shielding made contact with the subspace barrier, effectively the ship became a battering ram.

The Ogawa shook violently and inertial dampeners struggled to keep the ship stable and power systems took the brunt of the impact as expected, overloading all over the ship. The shaking continued for a few more seconds as lights went dark and the emergency lighting kicked in.

Across the ship, the damage was extensive: the ship’s frame showed stress fractures but was still intact. Life support was down to 69%. 53% of the EPS relays had blown out across the ship and both impulse and warp engines were down. They were dead in the water. Subspace communications were down but they could likely cobble together enough power to send out a distress call.

But scans would show that the ship was back in regular space.

~Mischief Maker

M’Nalie blinked at Woods her ears quivered and her tail seemed to curl in a question mark. “As it happens Lt. I am likely safe for your allergies for while we may look like Terran felines in appearance genetically we are in no wY simular. If you have had symtoms it is in your head I believe the expression goes. As for working in conjunction with you. We are simular in our approach and skills and are good at getting things done. Sadly this causes some defiency in our pairing as we do not compensate for each others weaknesses.” Which she said just before they hit the barrier. She senced the resistance as the shields scrapped and suddenly hugged Woods to her just as the collision hit. Cradling him to her so that she wpuld take the hit when they both slammed into thedeck. When the ship came to a dead halt moments later the explosions stopped and gravity was restored she released woods. “I think we might of survived.”, She Wheezed out, in a it hurts to talk tone. Her fur was scorched, and a leg was at a odd angle a compound fracture caused ragged bone to protrude from her left leg. She wasn’t bleeding too much though. She sighed thinking she wasn’t going to be much use on repairs for a while, as shock started to drift towards unconciousness.

Mark entered engineering. “Someone please tell me we have a plan. Or at least know what’s wrong.”

-Lt(j.g.) Mark Pierce, CE

M’Nalie struggled to stay concious, and managed a “nggg, “, as a responce. She strugled to a three point stance as her bleeding leg with the compound fracture wasn’t going to hold her weight. Athree legged hop later on wobbly legs and she had the fire extinguisher.. point, aim below the fire. She passed out before getting to spray and collapsed over the burning console putting ou the fire by simply covering completely. A definate case of whatever works engineering in practice.
