After the events of the last few days, Pilar finally took some time to spend with her family as they made final preparations for Otana’s surgery and hopefully a better future for her. Both Pilar and Derrick knew that they would always have to deal with the brain injury and the behaviors that went with it, had they found it after she was returned to them, the problems may not have been as extensive but here they were and now that they had a course of action, Pilar felt only slightly better.Head Nurse
Pilar walked over to the bedroom door and watched her daughter for a moment and then returned to the kitchen area “We have to have her in Sickbay by 0600 hours. The surgery will take about two to three hours and she’ll have to be in sickbay for at least 24 hours maybe less depending on how she does.” Pilar explained to Derrick who was making dinner for them.
She looked at her husband “Are we doing the right thing for her?” She asked “Or should we try medication and therapy first?” She asked sitting on one of the stools next to the bar. Derrick smiled at his wife “We are doing what is best for her.” He said “She is still going to need therapy and medication even after the surgery. We just have to trust the surgeon and his skills now.” Pilar sighed knowing he was right, she just didn’t like the thought of subjecting Otana to something if it wasn’t necessary.
