Gordon stepped into the security office dressed in his working uniform, his boots although duller than a dress uniform level of shine still held a high sheen to them. His hip holster was empty and he seemed to unconsciously run his hand over it from time to time, almost like he was expecting to feel a phaser in it and its absence was unsettling to him.

A tall yet young looking enlisted Andorian waved Gordon to him from the rear of the room, he was near a gaggle of other enlisted crew who were a hub of of activity. Some weapons lay dismantled on the nearby work tops while crewmen prepped their phasers, a variety of them appeared old and battered while others seemed fresh from the replicator. Gordon swallowed nervously and walked over, extending his hand as he reached the Andorian. He was a Petty Officer First Class and although appeared near to Gordons age he appeared to hold himself with an air of confidence well beyond his years.

“Crewman Gordon Muir, sir…good to meet you…” Gordon said as confidently as he could, trying to mask the air of uncertainty that he never the less exuded. The Andorian smiled back and shook Gordons hand with a firm grip. “Telev Shran, although if the officers around its Petty Officer Shran. Here’s your weapon, I checked it out for you…”

Telev’s other hand appeared with a hand phaser along with a few additional power cells, “I trust your quite happy with how to use this....” Telev said with a slight challenge in the voice. Gordon took the weapon, cleared it then began dissembling it on the table next to them, “All good....Shran, are you okay with Shran?” Gordon replied with a quick glance towards the Andorian. Telev nodded his ascent as Gordon snapped the Phaser back together and holstered it, he debated grabbing a drink before this briefing began but decided against it.

Zoi stepped into the security office a minute or two after Muir and Shran met each other. Her intensely blue eyes were on the PaDD in her hand, but she easily navigated between people until she was at the front of the room. “Good Morning everyone.” She said as she lifted her gaze to those gathered. She knew them all by having worked along side them or having met them as the new Chief. She smiled and waited for their echoing morning responses.

“Aright. Lets settle down and get comfortable. We have no specific mission as yet for our ship as a whole. The Ogawa is almost finished with repairs. It is our duty to get it security ready so lets go over roles and expectations for this shift. Patrols: You are assigned Decks 1 through 3. I want a thorough check of every nook and cranny. Look for suspicious or unknown parts. Work with Engineering if you don’t know what something is. If it is suspicious in nature or engineering cannot determine what it is, report it to me for further investigation. Look for superfluous bags or crates. Determine if it belongs there and if it does not, make sure to get with the appropriate department to have it moved. Look for open doors that should be locked. Secure all areas. If the area is needed after today, it will have to be opened by the appropriately briefed party. Decks 4-10 will be allotted to subsequent shifts over the next two days.”

“Tactical: I want a full diagnostic run on all weapons. Start with ship weapons and defenses for this shift. Have analysis to me by the end of today. Arsenal caches throughout the ship as well as personnel weapons checks will be done in subsequent shifts over the next two days. Every weapon must be at ready to use state.... in perfect working order or it gets replaced. All personnel weapon issuances will be documented. All non phaser type weapons, specifically personal weapons of the crew will need to be documented.”

“I will be updating our records on non Federation ships, their tactical capabilities and their weapons payload. In addition, I will be bringing on a few new holo simulations for training purposes. Jungle warfare, diplomatic escorting, and some black ops sneak scenarios.” She grinned fiercely. “We will definitely have some fun training in the next few months.”

“Any questions about duties today?”
