Before her impending meeting with Willow and the Starbase command team, Dira settled into the small space that would serve as a temporary office until the ship was in a functional state. Given the circumstances, she knew that she (and everyone else) needed to be flexible. To that effect, she thought through the message she wanted to send and once satisfied, sent it off on the group list they were set up with.

By now I’m sure you’ve heard the rumours that the Ogawa has been assigned a new XO. I am that person. I’ve only had a chance to have a fairly brief conversation with Captain Taylor, and would like to take the opportunity to get to know everyone. With these unusual circumstances, and being on the Starbase for the next while, I’d like to set up meetings with each department. It can be a one-on-one with the department head, or I’m happy to sit down with your entire team. The overall size of the crew means this is more doable than it would be on other ship, but I will let you all decide what you feel works best.
As I’m eager to officially get to work, I’ll also be arranging appointments in the Infirmary and with Psychiatry with Ogawa crew to satisfy my boarding requirements, so these will be in addition to the department meeting as necessary.
Please reply back with what sort of meeting you’d prefer and any current needs facing your department. My job is to facilitate the needs the crew as much as I can, so please don’t hesitate to let me know what those may be.

First impressions were not the ned of the galaxy but with the additional stresses the crew had been under, it was important that they understood she was here to join their team. She would do her best to smooth things along as best she could, but she had to admit she was in certain danger of getting exactly what she asked for and then regretting it. Ah well, whoever said the life of an XO was easy?
