Dira sipped her drink in a silent toast and nodded. “Oh, I wouldn’t worry too much. There are enough changes that it’ll be a good opportunity for me to get to know people under less than ideal circumstances. Trust me, that’ll actually be pretty useful. But what about R&R? When ‘s the last time the crew had any real opportunity for it? From what I read it didn’t look like there was time for it very much. You might all be overdue.”
”we are way overdue.” Willow nodded.
“But I was thinking of calling departmental meetings. We’ll have use of some of the conference rooms, I’m sure. Should be doable to get groups together and do some meet and greet situations.” At least for Dira, it would give her a good idea of what they were dealing with. It was a small enough crew to be able to get to know each and every person, but that would still take time. And it looked like time was something they had plenty of.

”sounds like a plan. I have a meeting first thing tomorrow morning at 0900 hours with the base commander and Admiral Davies, perhaps you’d care to join me?” she asked.

CODira nodded. “I’ll be there,” she said before knocking back the rest of her drink. Eyeing Willow, she smiled. “Well, I should turn in. I’ll see you first thing in the morning, and I’m planning on inviting the department heads over to whatever my temp office is to say hello. And I’m sure we’ll have plenty of opportunities to get to know each other better.”

Willow nodded. ”Tomorrow morning it is.” she agreed and standing made to show Dira out like a good host, she smiled. ”Normally id say welcome onboard but I guess welcome to the team will have to suffice for now.”

COMoving to the door, Myqian paused as the door slipped open. She gazed deeply at Willow for a moment and smiled softly. “These are rather unusual times, but from what I’ve managed to figure out so far the Ogawa has very adaptable crew and captain. But do me a favour?”

Willow raised her eyebrows. ”certainly if it is within my power to do so.” she said and waited for the woman to continue.

CODira’s smile never wavered. “Give yourself a break, Willow. You’re allowed one, even if you don’t feel you deserve one.” A simple truth, but one she felt was needed at the moment. It can’t have been easy for the CO, but Myqian was determined to make sure that Taylor knew she had support and that she wasn’t planning on going anywhere.

Willow smiled warmly. “I’ll try to remember.” She said with a small dip of her head. Somehow, she had the feeling she would enjoy working with this woman.
