Achilleas nodded while he reached for and received Ria’s hand. “I think that’s a wonderful idea. A happy middle ground to see if we’d enjoy it but not pressure you into making an important decision like that now.” He looked up and met her look with a silly grin, “I’m probably going to say and do stupid things from time to time. Are you sure you want to be with me while knowing that?”CSO Petrakos
“Yes, I do,” Ria said tenderly, yet with conviction. “I probably will as well and I know that I’m not always an easy person to be around. If it ever gets too much, you can tell me. I’ll understand.” She then placed her other hand on his cheek and once again leaned forward and kissed Achilleas gently on the lips.

“I’ve not had any doubts about my wanting to be with you. I’ll tell you if that changes, and I want you to do the same, but right now I will just trust that you will accept all of me as I accept all of you. The good will come with the bad, but I’m better with you in my life and I wouldn’t change that for anything.” Achilleas returned the gentle kiss with equal tenderness. He also lightly drug his fingertips down the back of her neck.

“I will,” Ria whispered with her lips still against his. As she felt his fingertips dig gently into her skin, goosebumps rose on her skin. Letting go of his hand, she placed hers on his back and pulled him closer towards her as she started to kiss him more fiercely and passionately again. For a while she continued to caress his back and face while kissing him. After some time, and she couldn’t even tell how much time had actually passed, she slowly slid her hand from his cheek down his chest till it came to rest on his waistband. She slowly opened the button, but didn’t do anything else. For now…

The next morning and with not a care in the world Achilleas slept blissfully. He often had an energetic outlook on life and approached each day in wonder and curiosity, but he wasn’t without worries and cares. He wondered if he’d been a good department head, if his family was doing well, if the ship would continue to be safe, if the Captain would separate them, or if he’d ever let Ria down. All these things weighed on him despite his naturally optimistic outlook. This evening lightened a good deal of his worries and allowed him to truly rest peacefully and with contentment. At a time before his alarm went off, he stirred from his slumber. He felt a pair of arms wrapped snugly around his chest and his own arms holding onto those. It took a few moments before wakefulness was achieved and he smiled with the realization that what happened last night wasn’t a dream and that Ria was still with him.

Always a light sleeper, Ria woke up as she felt Achilleas stir next her. A small, sleepy smile tucked at the corners of her lips and eyes and after kissing him lightly on the shoulder blade, she whispered, “Good morning love. How are you?” It was only now that she was waking up that she realised that the arm Achilleas was lying on had started to go a little numb. And while she enjoyed their closeness, that feeling was getting a little uncomfortable. So while keeping her other arm wrapped around him and her body basically molded against his, she carefully pulled her arm out underneath his chest.

Feeling Ria trying to extricate her arm, Achilleas released his hold on her, made some space so that she could pull it back, then carefully rolled around so that they were now facing each other. He answered her with a kiss full of tenderness then smiled before saying, “Good morning to you as well my love. I am fantastic and so happy. I thought last night was all a dream until I awoke and felt you still here with me. Thank you for a wonderful evening and for giving me your love.”

Ria returned the kiss with equal tenderness and then replied with a soft, “Always.” As she thought of last night her cheeks turned pink and her expression suddenly turned slightly bashful and there seemed to be a hint of a renewed shyness about her. In part to hide her face, she buried her face against the side of his neck after placing a few soft kisses there. You’d think that after last night there was close to nothing left between them that would make her feel shy and bashful, but somehow in the morning light, so to say, some of her insecurities regarding being with him came back. Though not as strong as before. It was more in the form of wondering if they had rushed things and if she had been too bold. Not that she regretted anything that happened last night, though.

Achilleas reached a hand to slowly rub the back of Ria’s neck. He didn’t really understand her actions but just figured she wanted to be close again, which was perfectly fine with him. The glow and contentment from the previous night was making him especially cuddly so to enjoy waking up with his body close against hers was the best experience he’s had.
It was then that the alarm sound began to play and instead of the typical abrasive sounds usually used in alarms, his alarm was the sound of the ocean waves hitting upon something and the sound of creaking wood. One could easily imagine that it was a sailboat moving through bright green water and the creak of the main mast as the sails shift in the wind.
