As always Tija was dressed in her uniform as she made her way towards the Infirmary. Now that the emergency with the fungi was over, she wasn’t sure if the staff would still let her come in and help. After all, she was on medical leave after having a mental breakdown on the Challenger. Not that she’d admit that publicly. Or even fully to herself. Deep down she knew of course that she needed some help, but she always been strong and independent. Even though there had been a few people in her life who took care of her, she had always felt that she had to take care of herself and be completely self-reliant. After all, things happen and people have to take care of themselves instead. You couldn’t trust that there’d always be someone you could lean on. Not to mention that from her point of view what happened on the Challenger was over and she saw no real reason why she shouldn’t be allowed back on duty. Or so she tried to convince herself as she walked down the now familiar corridor towards the Infirmary.

Stepping threw the doorway after his boarding physical Korak froze as a diminutive red headed Bajoran woman, obviously lost in thought met him and in her state of oblivion crashed into his chest. Standing there the massive Klingon looked down as her face came up with a quizzically amused look on his face. “Well met Doctor Tija”

Tija stumbled backwards and nearly lost her balance as she walked into something or rather someone. But thankfully she managed to regain her balance and remained standing. Looking up at the tall Klingon, she felt blood rush to her cheeks, turning them the faintest shade of pink. “My apologies, Sir. I should have paid more attention to where I am going. I hope I didn’t hurt you?” she asked and brushed a non-existent stray lock back behind her ear, her finger tips touching art of her scar ever so slightly as she did so.

“No, Doctor I am quite alright, and you?” As she orientated herself to the situation, the fact that their was a starfleet’s specialist uniform under the white sleeveless robe would become a clear. The look of concern and the right hand slightly extended, frozen mid act of catching her looked rather comical.

“I am, yes,” Tija replied in her curt, though not unkind tone. It was then that she spotted the uniform underneath the tunic. That certainly was different. Klingons in Starfleet weren’t very common to begin with. And Klingon Starfleet officers who weren’t with Security or Tactical even less so. And yet this was the second Klingon Starfleet officer who worked in neither of those departments she had met very recently. “You are a Starfleet officer,” she stated bluntly, yet with curiosity and fascination written all over her face. “Which department?”

~Lt. Tija, Doctor (med leave)

“Yes, Chaplain’s corps. Tho I am attached to the counseling department. You won’t hold that against me, I hope.” Stepping clear of the door way as he spoke, giving the diminutive human right of way.

The petite redhead, however, made no attempts to continue on her way into the Infirmary. One of the things she had been told was to meet with a counsellor on a regular basis, something she was not all to eager to do. Despite knowing that it was her only way forward if she ever wanted to return to active duty. ‘Maybe talking to a Chaplain would be easier,’ she mused silently. ‘And unlike the Chief of Psychiatry he is no mind-reader.’ Of course she knew that, sooner or later there was no way around to talk to the CoP as well. But maybe that could wait a bit if she talk to him first? While all those thoughts ran through her head, she kept staring up at him and when she finally spoke again her voice was slightly softer than before. “I won’t. On the contrary. Are you stationed here on the Starbase or on one of the docked vessels?”

~Lt. Tija, Doctor (med leave)

“I am attached to the USS Ogawa, Doctor. No chance to get away from me, I am afraid. As we will be serving together. Should you need me I am only a com call away.” If one were to close their eyes one could imagine the death voice of a beloved grandfather. The broad Klingon face of the reality was something different.

“That is good to know,” Tija replied and took a step or two forward before taking a deep breath and turning suddenly around again. “Actually, I-” she faltered a little, unwilling to admit that she was on medical leave. Though considering that he knew her name, he had probably read her file and her current status wasn’t classified. Taking another deep breath she continued, “I have been told that I need to see a counsellor on a regular basis before I’ll be allowed to return to active duty. The fact that you are also a chaplain is appealing.” She left it at that, wondering how he’d react as she stared up at him once again out of those green eyes.

“It is both my pleasure and my duty to serve, Doctor. So if there is anything I can do, please ask.” His manor was genuine. He was happy to be there and concerned for is fellow crew member was clear. “Now tho I am a certified counselor, I am not a licensed therapist. I can not clear you for duty. That said I can try to help you.

Tija nodded, “I understand that and I knew that at some point I’d most likely have to talk to the Chief of Psychiatry. But maybe talking to you first will make that easier.” Her expression suddenly changed to one of confusion and surprise as she realised how openly, especially for her, she was already talking to Korak even though they knew each other all of five minutes. How strange. Using this moment of braveness, she continued, “When would be a good time for you?”
