Elin stepped off the transporter pad and onto the brand new USS Ogawa. As she calmly stepped down she smiled at the transporter operator as he welcomed her aboard. He assured her that she would find her things had already been transported to her new quarters.

Carrying her PADD she set out to find her new CO’s office. The corridors were bustling with crewmembers all trying to figure out when and where they were supposed to be going. She smiled at those she passed and they found themselves slowing their frantic pace and relaxing a little without really knowing why. She had a natural way about her that brought people back to themselves, into the present, instead of in whatever emergency their brain had concocted for the moment.

In due time she found herself outside the door of the CO’s office. She pressed the chime requesting admittance and waited for a response.

Lt. (Dr.) Elin Mairwen Howell, COPsych

Inside the office Willow was carefully trying to push her fish tank into it’s new housing without causing a small tsunami. She supposed she really should have allowed the engineers to do it for her but it had looked so easy, classic mistake. When the time went she puffed her hair from her face and called “come in!” before she gave a final mighty shove with her shoulder causing the offending tank to slot into place with a slosh and a click.

“Phew..” the slightly dishevelled CO said and turned to look at whoever had entered. She smiled warmly. “Ahh you must be Doctor Howell?” she asked and held a hand out. “Captain Taylor, welcome to the Uss Ogawa.”

Elin smiled and took the proffered hand. “Must I be?” she answered with a brief chuckle and a mischievous look in her eyes, “Sometimes I wonder.” She shook her head briefly and continued. “Thank you for the welcome. I have to admit I have never seen anything like the Ogawa. She is beautiful.”

Willow laughed. “Well I certainly hope so but you never know, we have so many new crew moving around it’d be hard to tell.” she joked and then smiled warmly. “Isnt she? I’ve quite fallen in love I must say have you had time to your your facilities?”

She indicated the sofa. “Please sit. Can I get you anything from the replicator.”

Elin took a seat on the comfortable sofa, still smiling with just a hint of mischief in her eyes. “Oh, nothing right now, thank you. I’ve had a quick tour so far, but not much more then that. I have to say I am rather impressed. I definitely have some looking around and settling in to do, and you?”

Lt. Howell, COPsych

Willow got herself a peach ice tea and joined the counsellor. She nodded smiling that sort of blissfully happy smile people got when they were infatuated in something new, like a new car, a puppy, a baby or even it seemed a star ship. “We were lucky enough to get a full tour from HR before the crew started checking in. But I can imagine I’ll find myself wandering around on my off duty time. Memo rising the schematics and layouts never the same don’t you think?” she smiled.

“So tell me is this your first posting in a medical ship?”

Willow Taylor
CO

“Experience is generally much more satisfying then study, when it comes right down to it Captain.” She replied with a smile. “As for postings, yes, this is definitely a first for me. Most of my previous assignments were temporary ones, usually in a teaching capacity or crisis situation. I don’t think I’ve ever been off planet longer then three months at a time.”

Lt. Elin Howell, COPsych

Willow smiled warmly. “Well this is going to be exciting for you I’m sure. Would you like to tour your facilities together?” she asked a slight note of excitement in her tone at the prospect of wandering the ship again so soon.

Willow Taylor
CO

“I’d like that”, she paused, “If you have time and don’t mind that is. I wouldn’t want to pull you from your work, but I’d really appreciate it. I’m not very good at finding my way around yet, even with computer help.”
