Janna nodded and gave her most reassuring smile. “I’ve no doubt that will be the case.” She looked around for a moment before gazing back at Tija. “So, any good places around here? My last visit was exceptionally brief.” If she were honest with herself, Janna was nervous about being here again, as if Kivon might appear and abduct her once more. But Janna knew that to be an unfounded fear and that the only way forward was to get more comfortable with the starbase itself.

A small frown appeared on her freckled face as she pondered Janna’s question. The truth was: She hadn’t been to any of the establishment on the Starbase herself. But she had heard other officers talk about some of them. “I haven’t been there myself, but I’ve heard some good things about the Boiler Room Café, if you’re looking for a quieter atmosphere. Otherwise there is this bar …” Her frown deepened as she tried to remember the name. “The Likable … Wasp or Hornet or something. From the sound of it, it’s the opposite of the Café.”

“Hmm, I think the cafe sounds about my speed right now,” Janna said thoughtfully. Quiet. She desperately wanted somewhere quiet. “Are you free to join me, or do you have to be somewhere else soon?”

Tija almost gave snarky reply and was rather surprised by herself. That was not her normal modus operandi. Ever. Instead she said with a hint of a smile, “Thank you for the invitation. I have no where I need to be, so I’ll happily accept.” That said, she turned slightly and started to lead the way at a moderate pace towards the Boiler Room Café. She wasn’t the best at small talk, so she asked the one question that came to mind. “Do you know yet how long the Athena will be docked at the Starbase and what her next mission will be?” She had no idea about any of the events that had transpired during the Athena’s last mission and thus assumed that their stop here would be brief one before they continued on to their next mission.

Janna shook her head she headed through the Promenade towards where the Boiler Room Cafe as located. “No, actually. Based on past experience, we’ll expect to be here a little while and inevitably something will come up and off we go. Though to be fair, a ship that large demands something worthy of hauling that many people about space, so I imagine whatever the next mission is, it will be at least a little interesting,” she said with a smile.

“That sounds as if you have been on a number of … interesting missions while stationed on the Athena?” Aizala guessed, her head tilted ever so slightly, as they turned the last corner before the Café came into view. She looked closely at Janna for a moment and then offered, “I know we don’t really know each other, but if you want to talk about some of the things that happened during those missions, I’m here to listen. I find it’s sometimes easier to talk to a stranger or at least someone you don’t serve with on the same ship.”

Janna grinned. “That is certainly very true! I’m not sure how much I can say exactly”-she couldn’t quite remember if this last one was classified as well but she knew some of the others had been-“but there’s certainly been more than a few interesting ones, and those I are the ones I’ve been present for.” She was definitely tired though and it might be good to air it out a little.

Her curiosity piqued, Aizala gave Janna a warm and sympathetic smile.

As they arrive, it looked moderately busy but not packed, so it meant that it wasn’t overly noisy but also would make it easier to talk privately and not be overheard.

Looking around Aizala spotted an empty table in a slightly secluded corner of the Café that seemed to offer just the right amount of privacy. “Shall we take that table?” she suggested as she gestured towards it.
