Elin paused outside the entrance to the Psych/Couns Suites before entering for the first time. A sad smile showed briefly on her face as she wondered what Olivia would have thought of her going into Starfleet. On the one hand she knew it had been a way to run away from her loss but in reality it had turned into so much more. Once she realized the memories would not be left behind on Earth, and that if she was really honest with herself, she really didn’t want them to be, she found herself looking forward again.

Smiling, she put a cap on those thoughts and finally passed through the doors. She was ready to carry those memories forward with her now instead of trying to leave them behind.

OOC: Are you waiting for someone specific? Otherwise I could jump in here. ~Linds
OOC: Not really, you are welcome to jump in with something if you like, Otherwise I was going to continue it with some settling in stuff, just bumped it so I wouldn’t lose it

If there was one place that Dira wanted to spend a little extra time getting to know, it was the Psychiatry Deck. Outside of a hospital setting, it was rare to find an entire deck dedicated to mental health, but then again this was a floating hospital, just with different time-related priorities. Still, it was exciting to venture through the wards as staff settled in. They of course had no patients yet, but that would change probably sooner rather than later. And while she wasn’t going to be practicing here, she was going to keep her license up to date and between that and her role as XO she had to have more than a passing familiarity with their facilities. Though she now wore a red uniform, she doubted she’d ever fully let psychiatry go. It was just too ingrained in her at this point.

Venturing into the suite of offices geared for regular crew mental health practice, there was a bittersweet sensation that floated to the telepath’s mind. Moving in a little farther, it didn’t take Myqian long before she found its source and also a new crewmember she hadn’t yet met but immediately recognized form her extensive personnel file reading. “Commander Howell, welcome to the Ogawa,” she said warmly, pressing a brown hand to her chest and bowing her head.

Commander Myqian, XO

OOC: I will just pretend that she said Lt. instead of Commander :P
OOC: Was totally reading her as Lt. Commander for some reason. Carry on, lol.

“Thank you Commander,” Elin replied, still smiling, “It’s certainly lovely to be here.” She nodded her head in return and reached out a hand in greeting. “I’m afraid I arrived on the Starbase later then expected so I had little chance to meet anyone before boarding. It’s nice to finally be able to put faces to names. Have you come to admire the facilities? I was just about to have a look around myself.”

Dira didn’t miss a beat and shook Elin’s hand in the Human custom. “I did, yes, though I was hoping to catch you at an alright time to say hello. There’s so many new people and I was doing all my initial meet and greets on the starbase that it’s nice to see people in the places they’re going to be working. I’ve done a very small walk through the higher security side but I’d be glad to tour it all with you,” she said with a measure of excitement.

Commander Myqian, XO

“Shall we then?” Elin replied” I’ve a general idea of the layout from the schematics but that’s never the same as actually seeing it.” She started walking through the reception area and into the treatment areas. “I’ve worked in some amazing facilities in the past, old and modern but I expect this will beat them all.”
