OOC: This is an open thread for anyone to join in. Dira doesn’t bite… most of the time.
IC:
Given that she actually had a job to do, Dira knew it was going to take some time for her to properly get to know the whole of the ship. She was used to a larger vessel, but it had only taken her a few moments aboard the Nightingale-class to know it was something special. And it was very important for the new first officer (could she call herself that still?) to get to know as much of the crew as possible. She wanted very much to have an open door policy where anyone could come to her with issues or concerns and they wouldn’t do that if they didn’t trust her.

It was early evening and Dira was off-duty and dressed as such. Wide legged pleated trousers in a dark purple swished about her legs as she glided into the lounge, the overhead lights causing her ivory satin long-sleeved blouse to shimmer. Her mass of black corkscrew curls was left free to be its wild self. Surveying the expansive lounge with her hands on hips, Dira nodded to herself in approval.

Making her way over the bar, she smiled widely at the bartender on duty tonight, her dark eyes taking them in. The short Human male winked at her. “Welcome to the lounge Commander Myqian.”

“Memorizing the crew already. I highly approve,” she teased.

“Half the battle is knowing who it is you’re talking to.”

Dira laughed. “True that.”

“What can I get you?”

“Glass of Ktarian merlot would be lovely actually,” she said, leaning against the counter.

“Coming right up,” he said as he moved off to fill her order.

On her previous postings Aizala had never been one to just spend time in the lounge. And even for meals she had often preferred the solitude of her quarters. But after everything that had happened and with her finally working through her trauma (instead of burying it deep inside her while keeping everyone at bay so that she wouldn’t get hurt), she had decided to try and actually get to know her fellow officers. And a good starting point for that was the lounge, or so she suspected. So it was with that in mind that the petite Bajoran doctor walked into the lounge and looked around. It didn’t take her long to spot the First Officer at the bar, one of the few people who seemed to be on their own. Tugging at her uniform jacket and then running one hand over her braided hair, she walked over to Dira. With a small, but gentle smile, she asked, “Do you mind if I join you Commander?“

~Lt. Tija, Doctor

Myqian offered a warm smile to the newcomer. “Not all,” she said, taking that opportunity to slip onto a stool. “You’ll have to forgive me. With all the people coming and going and having arrived at my new posting to find ourselves at starbase, I’m still trying to get to know the faces of the crew. “I’m Dira Myqian.”

Following Dira’s lead, Aizala hoisted herself gracefully onto one of the bar stools as well and then turned slightly so that she could properly see the other woman. “There is nothing to forgive,” she replied, the smile on her face widening a little, even though she still seemed to hold some tension in her body. “My name is Tija Aizala. I’m new as well and one of the doctors on board as you probably guessed because of my uniform.” Cringing slightly at her own awkwardness, she fell silent and hoped that Dira would say something and not mind her slight lack of social skills (or what she felt was a lack of social skills).

“It was a logical deduction,” Myqian said with a warm smile.

The bartender returned and set the glass of wine in front of Dira and smiled at Tija. “Anything for, Lieutenant?” he asked.

Aizala thought about that for a short moment and then asked in return, “Could I have a hot apple cider?”

“Coming right up,” he said.

Once the bartender had left again, Aizala turned her focus back to Dira and asked, “How do you like this ship so far? Where have you been stationed before?” Wondering if she might be a little too nosy, she quickly added, “I’m sorry if I’m being too curious. You don’t have to answer any of those questions.”

~Lt. Tija, Doctor

Myqian smiled warmly. “I’m not afraid of questions. Questions have been my career,” she said with a laugh. “And I like it. I’m still getting to know the Ogawa better but so far I’m very impressed with both the working facilities as well as the recreational areas. I’ve been on other ships of varying sizes before and I’ve worked at Starfleet Medical, but this is my first actual medical vessel that I’ve served on. I think it’s going to be a fascinating experience,” she said, not hiding the thread of excitement she had been feeling all day.
