Kane walked through the doors and into the psychiatry suite and went to the desk. His hair fell over his face as he looked down at the receptionist and said “Kane. Here to see the Psych Chief.” flatly. Kane hadn’t had much use for these kind of ‘doctors’ in his previous life; and their much greater numbers in Star Fleet now made him even less of a fan.

Heather looked up from her knitting with a warm smile and a somewhat mischievous sparkle in her eye. “Of course dear, I will let her know you are here.” She paused and tilted her head to one side as she relayed and received a message in reply. “Dr. Howell is expecting you.” She gestured toward the floor where a green line lit up leading the way to the correct office.

Holo Receptionist “Heather”

Kane just shook his head slightly and walked the green line to the office. He gritted his teeth. Ever since his unexpected ‘forced relocation’, he had been to he didn’t know how many counselors, interrogators, therapists, mental health professionals, psychologists, psychiatrists… hell, he was half-convinced one time they brought in an astrologer. They asked the same questions in different ways and expected to get different answers. And they didn’t. For all of his abrasiveness and hostility… he was at least honest. Sometimes too honest, but he didn’t mince words.

Coming to the door, he pressed the chime.

The doors opened silently, revealing a room still in the midst of being rearranged and personalized. A small table with a couple of chairs was set up in a homey manner on one side of the room. Several images had been hung on one wall and a wooden bookcase stood off to one side. It was partially filled with old fashioned books and there was another stack of the same on one side of the desk. Elin turned from moving books as Kane entered. “Dr. Kane, welcome, can I offer you something from the replicator?” she asked with a gentle smile.
