Kane looked at Frigga and said “What are you waiting for?” and he jerked his thumb at the bed and Frigga jumped up and curled up next to Alexis. He bent down and said “Whatever you are working on… let me know if you figure it out.” and he kissed the side of her neck and then pulled the blanket up and turned the lights down, but not off. He went back to his bag and pulled out his tricorder. He walked back into the room and ran a scan over her to make sure she was ok, then said “Sleep, gorgeous. I’ll be here when you wake up.” and he looked at Frigga. “Next time you see that guy? F^%$ing bite the hell outta him already. Got it?”
A muttered, “Okay,” and a sigh when he kissed her neck. Before she could ask him to leave the lights on he’d already taken care of it. Frigga snorted in agreement. If he hadn’t been prepared for her, Frigga would have gladly taken a chunk out of him. “Solomon? I’m sorry, dates aren’t supposed to be like this.” T was said sleepily and there was a good bet she wasn’t aware she said it.
He walked to the door and left it open. “Well, wasn’t how I thought you’d be in my bed the first time… dammit.” and he went to the remains of dinner, cleaned up the dishes, took off his shirt and shoes and laid down on the couch.
Sleep could wait, and he fingered the phaser under his leg.
Kane
Some time in the middle of the night, Alexis woke with a start and soft cry. Frigga moved and laid across her lap. It took Alexis a moment to realize where she was and why. Something had clicked into place in her sleep, but first she needed to slow her heart rate from the nightmare she’d been having.
BonnerThe lights came up instantly and Kane was in the doorway with a phaser sweeping the room. “What is it? You okay?” he asked after he confirmed she and Frigga were the only ones there. He walked in and sat on the edge of the bed. He bare from the neck down, and now the true level of body art and scarring were clearly visible.
Kane
Alexis looked up at him as he instantly appeared in the door way. There was a way he moved or, no, it was a lack of wasted movement that spoke volumes, but her eyes were riveted on the phaser. She shook her head, and slid over slightly, making room, as he sat down. “Just a nightmare. The brain uses REM sleep to create images and sensations to allow the phsyche to process events that it didn’t in real time. Not unexpected, it could happen for the next several days.” She was still staring at the phaser. “Where did you get that phaser? Soulis has one just like it, and yes I am absolutely sure. He likes to show off with it.”
