About a day after the events with the Vulcans, around lunch time, the doors to the science labs whooshed open:

“Bonner, Riani, Petrakos, I am here!” Golfink said as he entered the science lab like a wrecking ball. For such a small man he demanded a lot of attention. “Cold logic wouldn’t woo you so now pure charisma will have to try! You will find me much harder to ignore!”

Not finding the three he was looking for dressed, made up, and nervously waiting his arrival, the elfin man lept onto a chair, “Oh Bonner! Oh Riani! Dear Petrakos! Come to Daddy Golfink! It is time for your close ups and by the Prophets I am going to get my interview!”

NE Labrat looked up from his work station and swallowed hard. Oh good Golfink wasn’t here for him. And he was more than willing to throw the others under the bus. “I don’t know about Riani and Petrakos, Sir, but Bonner is always here early. She works down the corridor in one the all purpose lab spaces. I’ll show you.” And he practically lept off his stool and led the man down the hall and to a large set of double doors. Labrat keyed the door control and stepped in, pointing to a station at the back corner. “Lt Bonner. Good luck getting her attention.” At the back station was a young woman in the beige and green uniform of science, dark auburn hair twisted up into a bun that was already coming loose, held in place by a stylus. The rest of the lab was empty, everyone else at lunch. She was intent on what she was doing, not looking up at Golfink and Labrat entered.
NE Labrat

Golfink did his best to order the other NEs as he went, barking instructions that the other two were to be brought to the general purpose lab post haste and forth with. There would be no dilly dallying as far as he was concerned. No sir! They were on the clock and picky actors had already set the production schedule back by months. MONTHS! If the science department didn’t cooperate now then who knew how long the camera crew would have to stick around.

Forever was threatened.

When they entered the lab Golfink nodded at Labrat, “You see Cadet, Ensign. General. Whatever you just have to be compelling. Think of all the great things you pay attention to. Do you pay attention to dull reports? No! You read reports of things that interest you or you find so very annoying that you must say something. I will let you decide which I am.” With that he turned and wandered up to a chair. Eyeing Bonnor he grabbed the back of it and dragged it across the floor causing a grating noise. Mixed in with this, he began to whistle the latest top charting Klingon pop music number horribly off key. After being the most annoying thing he could think of for a solid two minutes he looked the poor scientist over once and said, “We will have to compromise in a pony tail. The bun does give you that naughty librarian look though. Hmm. Let me see you with your hair down.”

OOC Adjusted because I read wrong:

As Golfink moved the chair, Bonner didn’t seem to notice. She continued to work, and after a moment of focused manipulation of the items on her table, she stood up and looked at Golfink. She pulled two small pods out of her ears and eyed him. Thank goodness for the noise cancellation. “Mr Golfink I presume? Let me make one thing absolutely clear, I have been told to answer your questions, and so I shall, but you have been told to NOT interfere with our work, and you shall not or I will call security. With proper safety precautions we are all safe. There is no need for theatrics, and I promise you I am capable of ignoring them.” She placed the flask of compound she had been working with into a secure and padded box and then locked it inside a cabinet. “You will exercise caution while inside the lab....Please.” Alexis was horrible with people but just like Borchek discovered a couple weeks ago, she would lock him in a forcefield to protect him and the crew from himself. If the man became reckless and irresponsible and stupid, inside of a working lab, and she simply could NOT allow it. Her mind continued to work the problem of the compound, giving Golfink only a portion of her attention. “Now while in the lab I will not put my hair down or leave it loose, it’s a safety hazard.” Naughty librarian? The man made her skin crawl and now she was in the lab alone with him because everyone else was at lunch and Labrat had already scurried out. But she’d been told to be…pleasant. So in quick order her hair was redone into a very high ponytail that still reached all the way to her lower back. “Now Mr Golfink what exactly is it I can answer for you? On the double please, we both have work to do, or at least, I do.”

Around this time was when Achilleas entered the sci-lab after he’d heard from some witless ensign that some horribly gauche, gnome looking man had entered and started making a ruckus. There was even mention of the overly bombastic appellation they’d given themself. Apparently their name was Golfink, but he certainly wasn’t Achilleas’ “Daddy”. He was pondering if he needed to call security and have this person removed but he saw Alexis seemed to have the situation well in hand with a no-nonsense look on her face. He was happy that Riani hadn’t been accosted by Golfink, as the witless ensign’s complexion looked horrible after what they’d seen.

Bonner’s diatribe went ignored for the most part as he continued to size her up, squinting and then touching something on the device attached to his head. “Mm. You know for science I would have thought this would be more.... Blah blah curing Tellurian Flu and less blah blah go away man who will make me famous.” He tilted his head towards Bonner half expecting a rebuttal but he turned his head sharply before she could respond, shouting into the hallway, “I was promised a CSO and another Science Ensign! Toot Sweet!”

Alexis wasn’t going to answer. If the man didn’t already know who she was she wasn’t going to inform him. She’d had her share of interviews and spot lights before, though her parents had done her best to keep them to a minimum. The man was…oily in a sickly sort of way. But she’d been ordered to answer his questions as long as it didn’t break other orders.

He turned back to Bonner, “What were we saying? Oh yes why are you working here? What makes you want to be on Ogawa? What is your drive your passion? Take as long as you need but speak from the heart.”

GM Wombat

Alexis watched and observed the man for a moment. He was awfully loud. Perhaps he was hard of hearing. She raised her voice to accommodate him so she wouldn’t have to repeat herself. “Working here? Do you mean here in this lab or here on Ogawa? Please be more specific. But since you asked about Ogawa I will answer that first and this lab second. What makes me want to be on Ogawa? It’s a hospital ship and I’m a doctor. It’s also the cutting edge of medical research. Where else could a medical research doctor find work that will challenge our skills and allow us to do good? Passion? There is no passion in science, passion blinds us to the truth of the research. Passion makes us see results that aren’t accurate. But I suppose you mean altruism. You want me to say I do this to help people and make the universe a better place. But really the body is an amazing piece of biological engineering. Given no outside forces it works perfectly with all of its integrated systems and parts; I like to make it work again when outside forces break it. As for why I am in this lab,” she glanced briefly at Petrakos, she guessed the media team knew where they were going and why. “We are on our way to provide relief and aid. I am adjusting medications to meet the physiological needs of the varying species and adjusting emergency rations to provide the correct nutritional and electrolyte needs of those same species. They will get more benefit out of it.” Hopefully she dumbed that down enough for the strange little man.

Achilleas wandered his way over to the two, not in a rush but at a leisurely pace. His being summoned in such a way chafed him a bit, so he was taking the slow walk to recenter himself and perhaps stick it to the diminutive man. He grinned at Alexis’ explanation as if she was telling it to a toddler and he sized up Golfink. He had to mentally correct himself to not think of the other person as Gimly, mainly because it would probably rude and Gimly was a cooler character. “You bellowed for me?”
