(snip, snip!)

The room she saw looked like an old fashioned clubhouse, made from a mixture of old oakwood and more modern Federation standard metals. Off to one side, there was a small bar, with a rather jovial looking Bolian bouncing from corner to corner, offering drinks and a friendly smile to the holographic patrons. At Kyle’s entrance and the whoosing sound accompanying the Holodeck arch vanishing behind them, the Bolian spun and grinned like a Chesire Cat, “Kyle! Same as usual?”
“I came prepared this time Zee, though I appreciate the offer.” Gesturing to Viasse, Kyle added, “Allow me to introduce Doctor Ruvre Viasse, my date for the evening.” At this, Zee’s grin seemed to widen even further, “Pleasure to meet you love, welcome to the Treble Clef Lounge, any friend of Kyle’s is a friend of mine,” Zee leaned into Kyle and tried to whisper, though she spoke loud enough for Viasse to hear, “Say the word Kyle, I’ll deactivate myself and leave you two lovebirds to it.” She made a cheeky clicking noise with her mouth and winked.

Ruvre absorbed the ambience, her gaze drifting along the sea of patrons and their charming domain. In the far corner, a young Bajoran touched at a piano’s ghostly keys. His eyes drifted from its old, tenderly polished wood to those attending a nearby table. Empty glasses gave way to idle chatter that permeated the air. But their voices were only a fragment of the Clubhouse’s gentle dissonance. Close, a couple exchanged deceivingly artless glances, but their smiles lit up the room. Beyond them, a middle-aged woman hovered over her drink and stared into its ambered depths, searching — or perhaps reminiscing. Ruvre could lose herself in the world before her, but she managed to pull her gaze to Kyle and the approaching woman.

“Likewise,” Viasse hummed as a delighted smile chased the wonder from her face. Her lips parted to mention the Lounge’s charm, but Zee then leaned to whisper something in Kyle’s ear. A blush soon tinted her cheeks. “May have to take you up on that offer,” her voice rang with a confidence that didn’t match her face, “but for now.. I’d love to know the best spot to share a drink.”

Zee tossed the young Doctor a rye grin and tossed a hand to the table in the centre of the room, that coincidentally had a single wax candle flickering with an off orange glow in the middle, two small glasses resting on either side, ‘Only the best for my two favourite customers,’ the Bolian hologram was pretending to gush, but Kyle couldn’t help but play along. Anders stepped over to the chair on the right hand side of the table and pulled out the chair, ‘Ladies first?’

Ruvre traced Zee’s unfolded hand to the table, a sceptical eyebrow lifting to her hairline. There wasn’t a fibre of her being that detested the candle, but she relished playing that card. Meandering over, she pressed a free hand to her chest and grinned. “Such a gentlemen,” she settled into the chair, “thank you.” Viasse tilted her head to the opposite chair and placed the whisky amid the glasses. “I can see why you ‘haunted’ this place,” she hummed, “it’s certainly got charm and the bartender is quite the character.”

Kyle grinned, swiped the Whisky off the desk and uncorked the glass bottle, sighing at the oddly satisfying pop sound the bottle made. “She’s based on the geniune article, the real Zee and I thought it would be beneficial for her to be a self aware hologram. That way, she can be a bit like whatever ship I’m on’s version of Guinan, or Quark in some cases! Well, to forging new relationships,” Kyle had bored two measures of the whiskey and raised a glass with that cheeky flirtatous grin he had seemed to be wearing all evening so far.

“Really? I’d love to hear Zee’s take on the ship’s drama,” Viasse mused, her body rocking with tempered humour. “Ah,” she snatched the glass and lifted it to his, “and to whatever adventures they bring.” With a grin dancing across her lips, she tipped it back and faced the fiery trail that left a tingle in its wake. Impressed, she studied the glass for a moment before setting it down. “Fine choice,” she hummed. “Is this a favourite of yours?” She wore a smile similar to his, but sparked with a keen interest in getting to know him better.
