Settled into quarters and office Rollin decided it was time to meet their staff. They had sent out the department-wide memo scheduling the meeting for 0900 hours in the group therapy room. “This room definitely needs to be utilized more,” Rollin said out loud. They twirled and pranced around lighting candles and oil burners. Soon the air was heavy with relaxing aromas and warm auras. In one corner of the room on a pedestal sat two medium-sized smooth stones. One white and one black, when near each other the stones reverberated ever so slightly, sending relaxing waves of vibrations through the air.

Rollin took a seat in the middle of the floor in a lotus position, the gold rings on their fingers glinting in the candlelight.

OOC: I know there are only two of us in psychiatry so if anyone wants to play an NE counselor or something feel free.

Dr. Mariah Grayson was not surprised to receive the request for a meeting. Since learning of the most recent departure, she expected Starfleet Medical to eventually send someone else to their department. She was also not surprised when such a meeting was scheduled for the group therapy room since it was one of the larger rooms within the department and could accommodate several members of the senior clinical staff. Grayson had been surprised to learn their newest arrival was a civilian and a Deltan. She hadn’t interacted with many Deltans before, so she was excited by the opportunity.

Making her way to the group therapy room, however, it didn’t take long for her to smell and then eventually see changes to the room. Fearing she had somehow miss read the message or the location, Grayson reached for her PADD to confirm the details, hoping at the same time she didn’t disturb the man who appear to be meditating in the middle of the floor.

Not moving, not evening opening their eyes Rollin spoke. “Don’t worry. You’ve got the time and place right. I just thought it might be nice to sit in peace together for a bit. After all, we are going to be working very closely together for quite some time. Before the rigors and stress of the job sets in, let’s just enjoy being in each other’s company. Please join me.” They said, indicating without indicating, the various cushions and mats on the floor. “However you are comfortable,” they said. They went back to their thoughtful meditation and waited for any others to arrive.

The response was a reminder that Deltans possessed abilities she did not as a human. She took a bit to consider what she wanted to do next. In truth, what would have made her most comfortable would have been the opportunity to speak rather than meditate, but she could also appreciate the importance of self-care and being comfortable with silence. Grayson wasn’t sure if that could be considered truly enjoying someone’s company, but she saw no reason to not do as requested, so she did exactly that, taking in the being beside her as much as taking note of the silence.
