Octavia didn’t have to do the nursing course but she had already racked up the hours and done many of the tests, tests which often mirrored her actual ambition of becoming a doctor. Nursing was different it was often the smile behind the surgeons and whether or not Octavia would eventually become a doctor she knew by becoming a nurse she was still going to help people. She’d already been told she was good with patience and a good student, after all, she would soon be going into her final year at the academy (not at the academy) and she was excited. Becoming a nurse was just another way of giving back to the Ogawa for putting up with her. She just had one final hurdle to face, she needed someone to sign off on the work she’d been doing here someone that was higher than a doctor or nurse and someone with the rank of Commander or above.

She didn’t want to bother the Captain who was more than suitable so instead, she’d decided the Chief of Staff would make a suitable candidate to hopefully singing of her course work, hours and commendations so that she could send it all off to Starfleet Medical, Starfleet Academy and Operations. She’d even filled out the paperwork to remind on the Ogawa as a nurse where she’d finish her final year as a Doctor in training before finally being allowed to wear the long white coat.

She’d set up a meeting with the Commander by sending him an invitation of the time, now and the place, his office. Standing outside the door having just pressed the chime, however, she couldn’t but feel what humans called butterflies.

  • Octavia Raain

The door slid open with it’s characteristic hiss, admitting the young Trill to Brad’s office.

The man himself was sitting at his desk at the far end, ostensibly staring at a PaDD, but really staring at nothing a thousand yards distant.
