Entering the arboretum Frigga took off into the foliage. She could be heard crashing about and then suddenly appeared in front of them again, ball in her mouth. She ran up to them and dropped the ball, tail wagging moving her whole body with it. She backed up a step from the ball and waited for someone to grab it and throw it for her.

Frigga

Bonner watched as Frigga took off and was not surprised when she returned with the ball. It was Frigga’s most prized possession. She reached down to grab it and Frigga snatched it away and dropped the ball in front of Walker and Anders. Bonner shrugged and flashed a grin at the dog, but spoke to Walker, “I said she would be happy to have someone around who throws better than me.”

Bonner, AMO

Brad picked up the ball and tossed it in the air to himself underhand a couple of times, to gauge its weight. He noticed how Frigga’s eyes tracked the ball as he did so.

“Is that so?” he asked, before pitching the ball in a lazy arc to land about 30 meters away. “Fetch, girl!”

Frigga took off after the ball, and when it landed she watched it waiting to see what direction it bounced in. When it didn’t she picked it up as she ran past it and disappeared again.

As Anders crossed the threshold into the Arboretum and watched with a wide grin as Frigga went to catch the ball, he was initially taken aback by the sheer number of plants in the room around him. Several fauna samples around the room didn’t look at all familiar to the young Yorkshireman; he wanted to ask questions, but could see how excitable Frigga was, “Happy to keep an eye on her if you want me to Lieutenant?”

Bonner shrugged with a grin. “You’re welcome to, but it’s not necessary. Frigga won’t leave the arboretum without permission. You can go where ever, she’s more likely to find you. Or go visiting and then find you.” Bonner heard someone call Frigga and off the dog went after she retrieved her ball. “The arboretum is too nice to just stand around waiting for her.”

Frigga came pelting out of the plants again from the opposite direction and dropped the ball in front of them again, picked it up and tossed it in the air, kind of, and it bounced and rolled back to them. She waited, eyes darting from Anders, Walker, Bonner, and back to the ball.

Frigga

Knowing what to listen for Alexis heard Frigga returning. “Ah, there she is. Frigga has lots of friends and lives making more. She’s pretty familiar with the arboretum. She helps with a lot of therapy sessions in here.”

Bonner, AMO

“It certainly presents a calming aura, maybe our new Chief of Psychiatry should consider holding all his meetings in here.” Kyle grinned and tossed the ball in the direction of the furthest plants on the far side of the arboretum. Just as Frigga ran after the ball, Anders’ combadge chirped, “Smyth to Anders, Lieutenant Havan would like to see you in the Security office.” Anders acknowledged his message and turned to the assembled officers, “It appears duty calls folks, so long.” And with that, he gave a friendly salute and sauntered out of the arboretum towards Deck 10.

“It does at that,” Brad agreed, taking a deep breath and relishing just a little the scent of the slightly damp soil that accompanied the life-sustaining oxygen/nitrogen mix.

Frigga returned but there was no Lt Anders and so she dropped the ball at Walker’s feet. She snatched it away when Alexis tried to grab it and then dropped it at Walker’s feet again. Alexis shook her head, “I’m only good enough to get your food, huh?” Frigga barked playfully at her.

Brad obligingly picked up the ball and pitched it back into the foliage.

Frigga bounded off after it, crashing through the plants, startling one of the arboretum staff who yelled good naturedly after the dog.

In true Alexis fashion there were topics to be discussed and arrangements made and there was no point putting them off. Myqian had told her to talk to Walker. “I don’t want to take up your personal time, Dr Walker, but I would like to arrange time to meet with you. Cmdr Myqian instructed me to speak with you.”

Bonner

“Sure,” Brad said. “I’ve got about an hour open tomorrow morning at 0930, if that works for you?” he asked. It would mean he’d need to find a different time to revise a response he was working on to a journal article, but that was easily doable.

Lt Kane pretty much let her do whatever during her shift because she always got her work done, never missed a dead line, and was where she was supposed to be when she was supposed to be there. It also helped that she never ‘snuck’ out to avoid work/to socialize. If she did he would probably confine her to Sickbay until they figured out what was wrong with her. And she had no scheduled projects for the next morning. Bonner nodded, “Yes that’s fine. Thank you, Dr Walker.”

Bonner

A pleading barking-howl was heard and a voice telling Frigga to ‘go long’ and the ball came sailing back in Walker and Bonner’s direction; Frigga chasing after it.
