Kane moved away from the landing site, Security detail in tow as he started looking for the water source so he could test samples and see what the Ogawa could do to help get liquid life up and running. Glancing back at the Security detail, he said “Gods above… try to look a bit more friendly, will ya? These people need help… not enforcers.” and he shook his head and turned back to the task at hand.

Octavia was positively bouncing behind the chief science officer, she was over the moon when the Captain had approved her request to join the away team and finally get some time off of the Ogawa. It wasn’t as if she didn’t enjoy the ship or the crew, she loved them like a family and they made her feel welcome and gave her a place to be but she also loved the smell of fresh air and the feel of a breeze against her skin that only being on a real planet could do. A smile tugged at her lips as Kanes words pulled her from her day dream state. She too had noticed their entourage of security officer were a bit what she called ‘OTT’ (over the top).

Ensign Dangbi nodded and relaxed a little at Kane’s reprimand. “I am sorry Lieutenant… It just their kind give me the willies,” he muttered looking around at the unwashed masses before receiving a sharp blow to the ribs from his partner, Ensign Rawlings.

“Don’t say that,” the woman scolded. “First it isn’t polite, second I am sure they are just as wary of us as we are of them, and third…” her eyes scanned quickly, “You never know who is, or was, Tal Shiar. I don’t fancy going missing because we insulted them.”

Kane stopped cold in his tracks and said in a low growl “What the hell did you two just say?” before he slowly turned around to look at the Security detail. His long, wild mane of hair seemed to be moved by the slight breeze and his face was momentarily free of the perpetual shroud of hair that covered his eyes. Not that that was any comfort to the security officers as the predatory glare from the heavily tattooed man indicated that he was not pleased.

Their kind? THEIR kind?” he said very loudly and with a great deal of… well… the word was agitation in polite company. “And what ‘kind’, exactly, is that Mr. Dangbi? Huh? What ‘kind’ is that that gives you the willies? Poor? Sick? Hurt? Displaced? Lost? Afraid? What kind, dammit?! What kind do you see that gives you the right to look down on them, huh?” and his head whipped to Rawlings. “And I don’t give one flying Denublian rat’s butt if they were Tal Shiar, Tal Drol, or towel dried… these are people who need help. Period. And in fact, you know what? They need help, but not from the likes of you. Get out. Back to the ship… right now. Immediately. And don’t worry about reporting to the Security Chief. I’ll handle that myself. GO!!” he yelled and waited for the pair to disappear.

Kane looked at the rest of the assembly and said “Anyone else wanna act the bigot? Tap that badge and go if you do.”
