Brad obligingly picked up the ball and pitched it back into the foliage.

Frigga bounded off after it, crashing through the plants, startling one of the arboretum staff who yelled good naturedly after the dog.

In true Alexis fashion there were topics to be discussed and arrangements made and there was no point putting them off. Myqian had told her to talk to Walker. “I don’t want to take up your personal time, Dr Walker, but I would like to arrange time to meet with you. Cmdr Myqian instructed me to speak with you.”

Bonner

“Sure,” Brad said. “I’ve got about an hour open tomorrow morning at 0930, if that works for you?” he asked. It would mean he’d need to find a different time to revise a response he was working on to a journal article, but that was easily doable.

Lt Kane pretty much let her do whatever during her shift because she always got her work done, never missed a dead line, and was where she was supposed to be when she was supposed to be there. It also helped that she never ‘snuck’ out to avoid work/to socialize. If she did he would probably confine her to Sickbay until they figured out what was wrong with her. And she had no scheduled projects for the next morning. Bonner nodded, “Yes that’s fine. Thank you, Dr Walker.”

A pleading barking-howl was heard and a voice telling Frigga to ‘go long’ and the ball came sailing back in Walker and Bonner’s direction; Frigga chasing after it.

Frigga, thera-pet

“I’ll expect you then,” Brad said, catching the ball on the rebound then stepping to the side to avoid a collision with the at-speed Frigga.

Alexis nodded, “Yes Sir.” She moved keeping an eye on Frigga but it didn’t appear the pup was going to launch herself like a torpedo at Walker. That behavior was apparently reserved.

“Hmm, maybe a closer toss, keep the botanists from getting too upset with us, and Engineering from getting upset with your Mistress for clogging up the sonic drains with all the dirt on you,” he said to her once she’d sat at his feet again. “What do you think?”

Frigga cocked her head to the side as if contemplating her answer. Then she let out a happy whine, head dropping to her front legs, tail up in the air, looking like a propeller warming up.

Frigga

Brad gave the ball a soft toss, one that would land on the path, before a bend, about six feet away from the two humans.

Frigga ran after the ball and looked at it confused as hit landed so quickly. Perhaps the man was allowed injured and was tiring. He needed to build up his strength! Yes that must be it. She picked up the ball, tail wagging, sure she had figured it out. She disappeared down the path.

She returned quickly, the ball gone replaced by a rope tug toy. She trotted up to Walker, tail wagging excitedly, offering him the other end of the toy. Tug toys were wonderful for building strength, Frigga was sure.

Frigga
Overly helpful Thera-pet

Bemused, Brad took the other end of the rope.

Taking a break from her research and her shift in the medical bay Octavia slowly made her way into the Arboretum, she enjoyed coming here from time to time and take in the different scents and sounds that the large space offered, not even the holodeck could replace the true feel and smells of the living foliage. That and she couldn’t book a slot in the holodeck, damn Michaels for block booking the whole day for some rubbish volleyball practice! she thought silently cursing him. The Trill noticed that she wasn’t aloneb. ‘Tay, her now given nickname from most of the crew had grown up in the time that she’d spent on the Ogawa she was older for one, taller and plumper so she looked more like a young adult than a young teenager. She smiled and waved at the people she noticed to be the chief of staff and the assistant chief medical officer.

  • Octavia Raain

“Afternoon, Miss Raain,” Brad said, beckoning the young Trill over.
